I'm once again asking for your attention.

Another week has gone by in our beloved VHL. 'Theme Week' Point Tasks were made, Birthday Bonus redeemed, but in the end, it's time for something we all don't really care about. Well, I spend my time writing about it for small pay, which I immediately spend on my player, who is still skeptical about making my own list. Well, this is going up as a Media Spot this week, so... suck it? Yeah, suck it, inner voice!

Anyway, I ramble.

It has been another fascinating week for our rookies, which I hope makes a compelling read for you. Except for Bouchard... that trade to Vancouver hasn't been easy.

Let's get to it!

--

5. Pierre Emile Bouchard (Last week: 1st) ⬇️

The trade that moved Bouchard from New York to Vancouver has turned his rookie season around, but not in a good way. This last week, Bouchard played 14 games for Vancouver with a total of 4 points and a plus/minus of -23. For comparison, his total in New York was -17. Of course, this past week wasn't all bad, but it was overwhelmingly negative and led to this 4-place drop.

4. Callum Murray (Last week: 4th) ↔️

Aussie, Callum Murray! Is he glued to 4th? No. But would that be bad? No. The truth is that Callum is doing everything right but suffers from being on a bad team. But his efforts don't go unrecognized. Is our number 4, but a good 4! 10 points, 24 hits, and 47 shots blocked. These are incredible numbers themselves, but he plays for the Stars, and they are the 3rd-worst team in the league. Even so, this past week, he has a plus/minus of -3. Not too bad, Callum!

3. Red Gaming (Last week: 5th) ⬆️

Red Gaming has been a staple for the Phoenix this season. Chicago currently holds 3rd place in the North American conference, but nothing on the team screams they're exceptional. There's no overwhelming stat or player, but they've found some consistency in that madness. At the center of it all is the goaltender with the most shots against this season, Red Gaming. This past week? 14 games, with 8 wins. Save percentage? Up. GAA (Goals Against Average)? Down. What more do you want? Shutouts? 2! Could we see a late push for the Aidan Shaw?

2. Landon Wolanin (Last week: 3rd) ⬆️

The Wrangler, Wolanin. Legend says you can't take him out of the gym. Always trying to improve his game, he'd be a worthy number 1 on this list. He's maintaining his level on a Calgary team that is still struggling but slowly improving its level. Landon played 15 games this week and scored 10 points, evenly divided between goals and assists, which shows Landon's presence in team play. With a +5 on the plus/minus column and a game-winner, he deserves this number 2 spot on the list.

1. Tomas Sogaard (Last week: 2nd) ⬆️

When I looked at this guy's plus/minus for the week, I said, "Fuck!". You deserve a long paragraph for Tomas' efforts, but with that much to show, it'll be brief. Plus/minus for the week? +15. Plus/minus for the season? +26. 15 games this week, with 14 points. His 47 on the season lead all rookies. Not only is he replacing future Hall-of-Famer, Duncan Idaho, but he's also doing a brilliant job at it. That's why he's number 1.

--

Let's be clear about this, Moscow's GM hasn't paid me to put Sogaard number 1 on the list, but goddamn. He is doing a great job leading Moscow this season.

On the outside, looking in, we have the usual suspects, Leandro Goncalves, Hammar Voss, and Dusty Wilson.

Leandro and Hammar seem to have found themselves mid-season, encountering a much-needed consistency in their game that they had shown in the VHLE and VHLM the past seasons.

This past week Leandro led all rookies in goals scored with 9 goals to his name, 2 of them being game winners.

On the other hand, Hammar has found his place in Helsinki with outstanding defensive presence, 10 points, and a game-winner. But what stands out the most is his plus/minus over the last 14 games, a +8, second only behind Sogaard.

Dusty Wilson has big shoes to fill. Em Em Flex left a mark on Seattle and the league, but Dusty has been stellar, just not as good as Red Gaming. Living in Flex's shadow isn't easy, but Dusty is doing a terrific job making his own path. Not only that, but he's also improving his numbers since the beginning of the season. He could see him on that 5th spot next week.

I'm about a thirty-minute drive away from kidnapping Brandon and make you trade him to Calgary for future considerations! Don't test me!
