While there are not much news for Marcel, there are news for Daniel and especially for Kurt.

Kurt has taken over the Red Wolves back in Istanbul from Kaleeb The Mighty. Luckily all his belongings fit easily into his yacht, so his move to the city at the Bosphorus Strait does not pose any bigger difficulties. He dropped the keys of his cabin at the Lake Ontario for his sons, so they can use it as a fishing hut or a holiday home, as they see fit.

Daniel is dancing on two weddings at the moment, dressing for the Birmingham Tiddlywinks in the ProAm Tournament and for Western Europe in the World Cup.

The Tiddlywinks show a record of 13-11-1 after 25 matches played and sit smack in the middle of the pack with a twelve point lead of the fourth seeded Atlantic City Angus and a four points deficit to the second placed Arctic Ground Squirrels.

In the ProAm Daniel shows the following stats:

25gp, 16g, 22a, 38pts, +11, 25 PIM, 43 hits, 8sb, 1gwg, 5ppg, 64.05FO%, 4 first star nominations

The above makes him the top man at the draw as well as the fourth highest scorer overall (and only second to Johnston in his team).

With Team Western Europe the Swiss center is already qualified for the semi-finals with the tied best record of all teams (7-2-1).

Daniel's stat card reads as follows:

10gp, 4g, 8a, 12pts, +7, 4 PIM, 4 hits, 5sb, 2ppg, 51.83FO%, 1 first star distinction

It is obvious that Janser is a top dog in the ProAm, where he is in the prestigious first line with Kisslinger and Johnston on his wings. In the World Cup, the line around Pearce/Atreides/Idaho stands in the lime light.

Regardless of the above, Janser is on a good trajectory with both of his off-season teams and some welcome silverware is not impossible to achieve.

We were able to send Severiyos Aydin, our Istanbul correspondent to Kurt to get an interview. Kurt was kind enough to agree to a meeting in a seafood restaurant near the harbour.

SA: 'Kurt, your departure from the Hounds was a little abrupt and happened during a rebuild with not many picks left for your successor, Ferk.'

KJ: 'Yeah, that is certainly something I am not overly proud of. I wish I could have left the Hounds in a better shape and not throw the next man into the deep end of the pool. However, I was presented with a lifetime opportunity, which I simply could not not take.'

SA: 'So what did convince you to accept the position here in Turkey's top team? What are your goals with this team?'

KJ: 'I always wanted to bring young people the love for hockey in non-traditional hockey markets. After all the challenge to familiarize a Canadian kid with hockey is not enormous to say the least. In Turkey, where soccer is the number one sport, this is more of a struggle. Also, I felt the Canadian Winter in my bones and the milder climate in the Med is better for my back as well. As to the with the plans with the Red Wolves: It is a pity that we could not keep the core of last season's Renaissance Cup winning team together. But this is the bane of success: the teams in the VHL have taken note of the talents we have here, and if the Big Show calls, you simply cannot compete. Just to be clear: I do not complain about this situation. It is a natural process and the kids would be fools not to take the chance to make it into the VHL once such an opportunity presents itself. The goal is now to regroupe as fast as possible so we can compete for the Cup again in maybe two-three seasons.'

SA: 'Thanks and good luck.'

KJ: 'Thanks and take care.'

Until next time, when we report again from our intrepid heroes on their quest for glory.
