Game 73:

Chicago Phoenix vs. Calgary Wranglers

When Chicago and Calgary faced off, many expected a close game which was the case for much of this affair. Both teams took advantage of a powerplay in the first period, first with Sax Justice scoring for Calgary and followed up by Bo Johansson for Chicago.   There were no other goals in the first period thanks to some elite defense, which continued into the second period as well.  Both teams were held scoreless as the third period started, but the floodgates were about to open. Chicago scored a pair of goals in the first few minutes of the final period, thanks to a brace by Kakapo Bushtit.  With a 3-1 lead, the Phoenix weren't done, however.  They ended any hopes of a Calgary comeback with a final nail in the coffin by Scotty Sundin, making the score 4-1 and giving the Wranglers a nice victory

Game 74:

Seattle Bears vs. Vancouver Wolves

A game between two of the top teams in the league. Seattle looking to hand the Wolves their first regulation loss set this game up to be very intense. It turned into a defensive masterclass for both teams. The first period, the two teams combined for 10 shots. Total. Only one found the back of the net, when Yaroslav Bogatyrev put the Bears up by one near the end of the first 4 seconds into a power play. Unfortunately for Seattle, something must have happened in that Vancouver locker room. The Wolves started the second period hungry. Dogwood Maple tied the game around a minute in, and the intensity soared. Sergey Preobrazhensky and Randy Bobandy threw down a few minutes after that goal and the shots started to pile on. However both goalies stood strong. Entering the third, the teams were locked together. A power play for each team came and went with no goals, and this game was going down to the wire. That is, until Svatopluk Puk broke the deadlock and made the game 2-1. Puk had a goal and an assist as the Wolves held on to become 9-0-1.
