O’Malley impresses

And just like that the season was over. Within three hours of game one we already had four games simmed and with the Reign winning all four of these with ease, the Cologne Express had to say farewell to their “magnificent” playoff run.

While Riga was expected to be the better team with the trade line acquisitions of Lindberg and Olsen, nobody saw this coming from Europe’s number two seed. For Thomas O’Malley the early playoff exit meant the end of his rookie season and he couldn’t be more than happy about his regular season performance. He made a name for himself in the VHL recordbooks in which he now futures in the most assists for a rookie and most points for a rookie record lists.

And it’s not just a meaningless low position, he managed to maneuver himself into the 7th overall slot in both of the lists. For assists he is the first rookie since Season 20 to surpass the 70 assists while in the points totals he is the first rookie since season 20 that gets 110 points or more. With this performance he ends up one place ahead of Ethan Osbourne and three places ahead of Travis Boychuk, the most recent players to enter the top 10.

It’s just a first season and a sophomore slump is looming, but O’Malley certainly impressed during his rookie season and the number 14 jerseys are showing up more and more in Cologne.

lol they are not longer. Shorter if anything.

I'm only going off of my memory, but you don't think having 2 off-season tournaments in a 3 season cycle has increased the average length of the off-season?

Not really, they still don't last 2 weeks.

It's not like we allocate time to the World or Super Cup exclusively, they run concurrently with other things.
