Should NTC for contracts be available only to those players/users that donate to the league?

Recommended Posts

We have seen time after time how selfish VHL users/players hold their organizations hostage by demanding an NTC on their contracts.  When players have NTC on their contract a lot of deals are never made, because the players have managed to sign an anchor deal that means they are not getting moved. On the surface that might not mean that much, but when we consider the number of high-profile players in VHL and the cap struggle some teams are in - can the league afford to have an unlimited number of players with NTC on their contracts?

I think it is worth considering adding the NTC option behind a paywall. If the user donates 10 or 5 dollars they are eligible to sign a NTC for their next contract. By doing so the number of NTC contracts will hopefully be reduced making trades more likely to happen, which is only a good thing for the league. At the same time, the league can collect a few more donations that can be used to promote the league and to cover the running expenses.

I don't like the idea but putting it behind a paywall, and I feel like most high profile people probably donate anyways

But if there was a real concern about mobility, I don't think it would be crazy to change NTC's so that people would pick up to X number of teams that they can't be traded to. Probably makes more sense than a blanket NTC in the VHL where team needs can change so fast.

Even better let's charge ppl real money if they want to test FA so teams don't get screwed over that drafted them initially
