VHL HQ

The Victory Hockey League is one of the world's finest and most well-respected hockey league. With it's 10 teams (and it's 10 minor league teams) scattered across North American and Europe, the VHL is loved worldwide. Often forgotten in favour of the flashy players and fancy arenas is the place where the league is held together, or as it's called, VHL Headquarters.

The VHL HQ is and always has been located in New York City, USA. The HQ occupies floors 44-47 of 383 Madison Avenue, which is located on, you guessed it, Madison Avenue. Media coverage inside the offices of the VHL have always been limited and minimal, usually only focusing on the goal judging system and other aspects that are directly related to the actual hockey games. However, today, we were granted a private tour of the offices. Truthfully, we didn't expect much of this tour. We figured we would be strung along by some intern who would show us the most general of areas. That wasn't quite the case, as we were pleasantly surprised at the openness of the tour.

We started off in the waiting area, where we waited for about 45 minutes past the time we were supposed to arrive. Finally, a man emerged and greeted us. This man was none other than Mr. Chris Miller, one of the founders of Professional Business Men Inc. and a board member for the VHL. He welcomed us and ushered us inside. Directly through the doors leading to the inner office is a large bullpen that reminds you of a trading office, like the one off of Wolf of Wall Street or some shit. Who would have thought the VHL had that many phone calls?

Anyways, Miller took us through most of the first floor, all boring, and then handed us off to another guy. This guy was a frenchman, Benoit Prévost. He's known most as the General Manager of the Stockholm Vikings, but he also does a lot of contract graphic work for the league. He continued the tour where Miller left off, leading us to the second floor. The second floor is taken up mostly by the accounting department, but found deep in the depths of the hallways is one of the most notorious offices in the HQ: The office of Gorlab, the infamous salary cap watchdog. Not much to report from the second floor overall, quite boring. Prévost followed suit with Miller and handed us off to another fella before we ascended the stairs to the next floor.

Our next host, and the most exciting of them all, was Jim Gow - a recently appointed Commissioner of the VHL. He informed us that he would be handling us for the rest our tour, and they we were going to skip the third floor and go straight to the fourth. Upon arriving he showed us the board room, and then led us through a door and down a dimly lit hallway. He stopped in front of a door at the end of a hallway, and asked us to remove our shoes. We were about to enter the office of Mitch Higgins, who is apparently very particular about his carpet's cleanliness. We walked in and were introduced. Higgins was sitting behind his desk with drink in hand; his office smelled of a mixture of alcohol and the scentsy that was lit on his desk. We didn't spend much time there, which is good because it was uncomfortable.

Gow led us back the way we came and then down a different hallway. He stopped at another door and, instead of telling us to remove our shoes, told us that he couldn't guarantee that Mr. Bunclewirth was in today. He opened the door, and found nobody inside. His office was oddly empty. Everything had a layer of dust and cobweb, and there wasn't a shred of paper to be found. Just some couches, a liquor cabinet, a TV, and a desk. We left, and headed right across the hall. This was Gow's office. It looked like, well, a normal office. Pretty much what you would expect to see. He led us out once again and informed us we had one last stop.

Directly to the right of Bunclewirth's office, we entered the office of Don Draper. The office wreaked of liquor and smoke. Interestingly, there was a small hideaway bed. When we asked about it, we were told that it was there so that Draper could call his office a residence - therefore allowing him to legally smoke in it, since it would otherwise be considered a public space. After that, we left and Gow handed us off to a secretary to escort us out.

Content: 3/3 - Normally I would dock you for not including High Commissioner Munk as Kendrick suggested, but I understand not wanting to reveal that you don't have the actual power. I will assume that was the third floor.

Grammar: 2/2 - Just a few small things.

it's 10 teams... it's 10 minor = no apostrophes needed

Pretty much what you would expect to see. = fragment

office wreaked = office reeked

Presentation: 1/1 - Works for me.

Total: 6/6
