Tagger 2,722 Posted March 30, 2015 Share Posted March 30, 2015 While Edwin Encarnacion is only five games away from ending what will be his final season in the VHL, he certainly isn't leaving without making an impact. To this point of the season, Encarnacion has put up an incredible 269 PIMs (which puts him at around 4 PIMs per game on the season, which ranks thus far as the joint 13th best PIMing season to date in the VHL, and is only 15 PIMs behind his previous best PIMing season of 284 PIMs set in Season 39, again with the Calgary Wranglers. What makes this even more incredible than usual is that Encarnacion has put up these terrific PIMing numbers in a post-rivalry game environment, making him the first person to break into the top 25 PIMing seasons after the rivalry game purge and will also mean, barring an extraordinary PIMing performance from his rivals, that Encarnacion has recorded the two best PIMing seasons since rivalry games were abolished. While key statistical evidence is missing to prove this, we are inclined to believe that Encarnacion will become the first player in VHL history to pick up 5 PIM Championships over the course of his career. Indeed! Also, if I grab 17 hits in our remaining three games, which is certainly doable, I'll record the most hits in one season by a defenseman!
