Devise 4,475
The Calgary Wranglers have finally decided to rebuild. The Wranglers won the Continental Cup in Season 44, besting a Cologne Express team who won a Championship in Season 42, and then made the finals the next two consecutive seasons. The Wranglers would repeat the feat of the Express, heading to the finals in Season 45 and 46 only to be bested by a Helsinki Titans team that would become the first to repeat since the Season 24/45 Davos Dynamo. The decision didn't shock too many people, as the Wranglers have been an elite team in the VHL for several seasons now. After they were ousted by a late third period effort from the New York Americans in the North American Conference Finals this past season, some saw the window ending for Calgary. But with one team now deciding to begin starting fresh, a new challenger from the NA Conference will emerge. That challenger is of course the Toronto Legion. Toronto fans have to be excited about Season 48, since for the first time since the days of Remy LeBeau they are going to have a solid team, a team that given the structure of the conference will more than likely make the playoffs. Toronto management has already embraced the competitive season trading for Francis York Morgan, Benjamin Zeptenbergs and Jack Kowalski from the Wranglers. They also got rid of David Hamilton, a young player just looking to crack the VHL for picks. Whether Toronto uses those picks in the draft, or as trade chips remain to be seen. While the Legion are still short a goalie and their roster is hardly the most complete, it would be unwise to sleep on this team. Max Molholt and Zach Parechkin are two underrated stars who have been very good offensive producers for the young Legion. They also are a competing team with cap space and assets to make moves. They could be active in free agency, trade deadline, the list goes on. While a full on Cup run may be out of the question, upsetting a top team in the playoffs and making some noise in Season 48 seems likely for a Legion squad ready to take the next step.
