Help Is On the Way

The Stockholm Vikings are not good. It's that plain and simple; In 18 games, they have just two wins. They've scored the fewest goals while allowing the most. Atticus Von Braxton IV is struggling, but he really doesn't have much help in front of him. Their two rookies, Diana Maxwell and Essian Ravenwing, are showing promise, but they won't be able to do it all themselves. *The VHL script calls for this franchise to win in S51, but that would require a huge turnaround from this S50 performance they are putting on. While it may be a little overzealous for them to aim for a Continental Cup as early as next season, help is on the way.

*Vasteras won the Cup in S1, and not again until S26. Having not won since then, S51 is their next scheduled victory, now as Stockholm.

D Nikki Kissanen

The S48 draft was not necessarily a great one, and certainly not in terms of depth. Other than Titan Kronos, who wasn't even supposed to be in the draft and was later selected again in S49, no player past round one will likely make it to the VHL in their career. The ninth overall pick, Nikki Kissanen, is one of two first rounders who has not yet seen pro play, but that will change next season. Kissanen is not a workout fiend by any means, but he gets the job done, especially recently. Although Kissanen has been a bit of a project player, by next season, he will be better than any defenseman currently on the Stockholm roster. Down in the VHLM, Kissanen is looking to add a third Ryan Sullivan Trophy to his case; named the Top Defenseman in S48 and S49, Kissanen is the only player to have won the award twice and is currently the front-runner this season.

LW Jack Kraken

Like Kissanen, Jack Kraken has had some spells of limited effort and improvement. Lately, however, Kraken's motivation seems to have risen. Late last season, it seemed to be that he may have been a lost cause, but the renewed work ethic has him on track to join the Vikings next season. If he does make the team as early as then, his impact will not be immediate. He will add a solid offensive presence down the line in his career, but he won't be a rookie that the Vikings would rely heavily on. Down in the VHLM, he has 14 goals and 23 points in 18 games thus far, leading his team in both stats. He has helped the Blades to the second best record through a quarter of the season.

D Elijah Dotran

While Maxwell and Ravenwing were the star picks for the Vikings at the S50 draft, Elijah Dotran at sixth overall gives the team a defenseman they hope to be able to depend on for years to come. Dotran is a physical player, something that the Vikings are currently lacking. Although he has just ten points for the Oslo Storm, he has the second most hits in the VHLM with 91. His offensive numbers could pick up if he were to be traded to a competitive team, but he is primarily a defensive player; and defense is what the Vikings are going to need from him next season and in the future.

D Misha Tobolsk

At 12th overall, Misha Tobolsk was a very solid pick. It's not a certainty that he'll be in the VHL next season, but if the Vikings can actually manage to compete for a playoff spot, he could potentially be a deadline call-up to help them down the stretch. Currently playing alongside Kraken in Brampton, Tobolsk is a versatile defenseman. He likely won't even become a star or someone that a team is built around, but he has the potential to be a solid depth piece that teams need. Coming up with Kissanen and Dotran, the Vikings appear to be set as far as defensemen prospects go.

Review:

very solid article, I love hearing anything about my boy @linsangeles! Hopefully Kraken comes through, and just looking at this I see Tobolsk make a post so that's a positive sign! Just keep doing what you doing Stockholm.
