I came back to this board after at least a year away (probably more), and maybe this is just because it was me, but I had absolutely no clue where to get started - everything was all over the place, and even with the VHL Rulebook, there wasn't really any "Newbies Guide" or anything. Back when I was an active member all those years ago, I made a little video tutorial on how to get started. That might be the best option. I was laying low just being Penis and such, but you started talking about that and it's a subject that really hit home with me for multiple reasons. I like the idea of "talking to people" because it's very individual, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee that you'll reach every new member. As robotic as it may seem, an "introduction" post with all the necessary links (maybe even in order of what you want to do first, second, etc.) will go a long way, and if you still want that personalized feel, get all the commishes' names in the intro posts.. Even as someone who's been around before, I didn't post anything in my first few days of re-creation just because I didn't remember what to do. If a guy who was a member for ~5 years doesn't quite know what to do, then newbies won't know either. You made it seem, possibly not intentionally, that I am blind to the issue of new members and think 2nd rounders are worth a lot. If you recall, I answered your question in those trade negotiations, and admitted they're not worth much. But, things are not worse than in the past. Honestly. 2nd rounders were just always rated high, that didn't make them more valuable than they are now. You mention the weakness of 13th overall this past draft. Go back as many drafts as you want. Apart from the freakishly good drafts, it's very rare to have quality after 10th-12th overall. Now, is this a good thing? No of course not. There is room for improvement, there always is, just as I replied to you. You've provided some good ideas for recruitment as have others. Indeed, it's easy to place the blame on me or the commishes as a whole (mainly me). But what precisely do you expect the commissioners to do? Nothing proposed really needs to be announced. Nothing requires Admin CP access either. You don't need the green light from the commishes to do every little thing. Ree wanted to create the VHL mag, so he did, he made application threads and he hired the people he wanted. You or anyone else can do the same for a recruitment graphic or video. Don't wait for me to do things when I don't know what I'm expected to do. Take initiative, no one's going to question you. If you need something specific, let me or Higgins or whoever know. PM me haha Also, Alfie I know what you are saying but me starting a recruitment drive isn't the same as a blue team doing it. I don't know if you've been in another league or not but a recruitment drive starts from the top. It won't get the response it needs unless it is initiated from up high, not me. To do that I have brought up many points in the BOG, but members want to be rewarded with TPE for their actions and I can't simply tell them they get 3-4 TPE if they make an intro video. Why? I have no authority there. Which is why I haven't done something like that, cause if I did you'd come along and tell me that I can't reward people because I have no authority. Just saying…can't really expect Myself or anyone outside the blue team to initiate something if we don't have the power to give members what they want for helping.
