Davey Heads To A New Home

Davey Jones had been rumored to be headed towards free agency with his second season coming to a start. His agent, Da Trifecta, contacted the teams GM, Joey Kendrick and told him that he was hoping that the team could find a suitable trade that would send Davey to a more comfortable locker room. Joey said he would talk with other GM's and he would try and find the best possible offer that would help the future of the Cologne Express. After long searching and searching, Joey had come with the top 2 offers from the Helsinki Titans and the HC Davos Dynamo. Now he got into contact with Da Trifecta and told him that those 2 teams showed interest and that he needed him to get into contact with Davey and find out which of the 2 destinations he preferred.

Davey got a call from Da Trifecta and he asked what the current status was on the trade offers. DT would go on to say that the Helsinki Titans and the HC Davos Dynamo have expressed interest in him. Davey told DT he would get ahold of him when he decided which team he wanted to go to. He took about 2 days and he finally came up with the HC Davos Dynamo. After giving consideration to the Titans, he didn't want to be a title chaser and the only person he really was comfortable with on the team was Ethan Osbourne. Both the agents of their teams are real close friends as Davey played under GM STZ for the Bratislava Watchmen.

Now when Davey thought about who was on the Dynamo and he was ecstatic when he found out. He first smiled when he remembered his good ol' Watchmen days with Thomas Landry as his teammate. He couldn't wait to get the chance to be on his team again and they were a very formidable duo when they were in the VHLM. Learning that Odin Tordahl recently signed with the team also helped him make his decision. Tordahl is one of those players that everyone would love to team up with. His talent alone is something that should be admired. Lennox Moher was the icing on the cake. Davey was very fond of him when they were in the VHLM as they faced each other many times during both seasons.

Ultimately DT went back to Joey and told him that Davey felt most comfortable going to the Dynamo. Joey quickly made haste of contacting Victor, (GM of Davos) and they got a deal put together. Davey was very excited that he would get the chance to have a fresh start on a new team and hopefully help them make an impact. He wanted to come in and help this Davos team compete and hopefully win a cup. It all starts with him being ready for this team and let's see if he can do what he wanted to do with this team.

this was another case of a team getting two players for free so they could offer more than anyone else

It's a pretty interesting case indeed. Two teams that were on the same level last season (we were actually a bit better), but then one of the gets some help through Free Agency, which allows them to trade some futures, while the other team doesn't get anyone. And then this leads to one of our better players telling us that he would be testing the market as well because of that and basically forces us to trade him, if we don't want to be left with nothing after this season.

@Higgins: We didn't shut the Helsinki down completely if I remember correctly, or at least I didn't. We just preferred looking at some other options first because as you said, the deal wouldn't really have worked for us with Glass included.

Helsinki wanted Glass too and we couldn't offer a replacement player for both, so Cologne shut the Helsinki trade down long before accepting any other trade tbh

Higgins is correct. DA makes it seems in this article that both happened at the same time. When in fact both trade offers were given a couple days in between
