So how do the finals go?

Pittsburgh+Penguins+v+Columbus+Blue+Jack

The VHL finals are set. Helsinki against New York in the battle most people have predicted when the playoffs began is here. Both are obviously good teams with one heading to the end of their run and the other maybe in the middle of it. It's a battle of one team with two mega stars and another with depth like you wouldn't believe. The league is watching as the two teams come together for a finals. So let's take a look at the two teams as they get ready to face off.

Forwards

Helsinki is led by future hall of famer Franchise Cornerstone. He is not long for the VHL as he faces retirement but remains one of the leagues best. He is a two way forward but is always on the top of the scoring leaderboard. If he has a dominant series it would be difficult for even the best teams to stop him. He is joined by three other pretty good forwards but there's no doubt the Americans own the depth conversation. They have two elite players in Keller and Boeser as well as a veteran guy in Felix Savard. Sergei Komorov is himself is probably a first line forward on any team in the league. All that to say, it's a question of if you prefer depth or individual talents. Helsinki has maybe the best forward of the bunch but the Americans have such depth that it calls it in to question. I say in the end, the Americans edge of the Titans here, but it's not as far apart as it may appear.

Defense

On the blueline the two teams match up pretty similar to the first category. The Titans have a future hall of fame talent leading the way while he is joined by a future all star in Pablo and a depth guy Augustus Gloop. There is no debating Ay Ay Ron. He is one of the best players at his position in a very long time. Wherever he goes from here is probably already a HOF talent. Pablo still has a lot left in the tank while Gloop is a VHLMer at this point but is better then a CPU. The Americans have the twin towers in Raynes and Jones. The two are elite players not quite at Ron's level but still a very good tandem and among the leagues best. However, that is all they have. They don't have any depth options which may cost them against the Titans. I'd say it's clear the Titans win this category. With all due respect, Ay Ay Ron is a great player and could win a series on his own.

Goaltending

In this category we consider the most important people in the series, the goalies. Jacob is rated as highly as any goalie in the league while Ike Alexander has had elite play all season. For me, in a series like this Jacob will have to probably be very good to win it for the Titans. Alexander will also have to be good but I wonder which goalie will have to cary their team more. Both goalies have been stars all year for their teams but it's a whole different game now. I think the Titans win this one, but it's very close.

The Verdict

So who is going to win? It really is a coin toss. I want Helsinki to win because it's the last chance for their great core but at the same time @STZ has built a really, really good core and it would be brutal for them to wait another year. A wise man once said if you pick a team in 7 it means you don't know who is going to win, so for that reason I will say the Americans edge it out in 7, but I have no clue.
