VHLM game review will be a weekly series reviewing the next 7 days of games and projecting a winner for each one. Team Abbreviations Halifax 21st - HFX Houston Bulls - HOU Las Vegas Aces - LVA Minnesota Storm - MIN Ottawa Lynx - OTT Philadelphia Reapers - PHI Saskatoon Wild - SSK Yukon Rush - YUK Away Team vs Home Team #-# XYZ | OT/SO Games Day One Minnesota Storm vs Halifax 21st In terms of overall skill, Minnesota has the edge, but Halifax has better depth. The thing that decides this matchup for me is Minnesota's large advantage in scoring, passing, and defense. The only way I see this game going to Halifax is if Chase stands on his head. 4-1 MIN Las Vegas Aces vs Ottawa Lynx This game is over before it even starts. Some scratches on Vegas would be top 6 on Ottawa. Ottawa doesn't even have a goalie advantage. 6-0 LVA Saskatoon Wild vs Philadelphia Reapers Philadelphia's first game in their history will be an interesting one. While it looks like, on paper, that the game will be an easy win for Saskatoon, this is not the case. While Saskatoon has a full roster and is better overall, the Reapers have a more elite squad of players and the goalie advantage. Overall, this will be a close game that really depends on the fatigue of Philly. 3-2 PHI Yukon Rush vs Houston Bulls Both of these teams are relatively even, Yukon just has more filler players. A somewhat major factor of this game will be goaltending, where Houston has an advantage. 4-3 HOU | OT Day Two Ottawa Lynx vs Saskatoon Wild Like Saskatoon's first game, this game depends on Ottawa's fatigue. Another similarity is the fact that Ottawa's below average goaltending is worse than their opponent. 7-4 SSK Philadelphia Reapers vs Minnesota Storm Minnesota is just better, not much to say here. 11 average overall can't be made up by excluding 5 fillers. 6-2 MIN Halifax 21st vs Las Vegas Aces This game is one of the closest possible matchups, as both teams are very similar. Vegas has a slightly better overall roster but Halifax has Chase, the best VHLM goalie. 1-0 HFX Houston Bulls vs Yukon Rush This is one of 5 GAMES BETWEEN THESE TWO IN A ROW. I won't waste time by repeating myself 5 times and just put a score. 2-1 YUK | OT Day Three Saskatoon Wild vs Ottawa Lynx This repeat matchup is unlikely to be different from the first one. 6-5 SSK Minnesota Storm vs Halifax 21st See the day one description of this game. 3-2 MIN Day Four Yukon Rush vs Houston Bulls Cmon really... 5-4 HOU | SO Las Vegas Aces vs Halifax 21st Halifax is likely to be more fatigued due to them not getting a single day off so far. 2-1 LVA | SO Saskatoon Wild vs Philadelphia Reapers This is a similar case to LVA vs HFX. The only difference is that the team with rest won the last matchup. 5-3 PHI Day Five Houston Bulls vs Yukon Rush This system makes no sense. 2-1 YUK Las Vegas Aces vs Minnesota Storm Minnesota is just too good and more rested, enough said. 3-0 MIN Ottawa Lynx vs Saskatoon Wild Is the third time the charm? Probably since this week needs a major upset. 6-5 OTT Halifax 21st vs Philadelphia Reapers Halifax has a better goalie and a better roster. Nothing much to say here. 4-1 HFX Day Six Las Vegas Aces vs Ottawa Lynx Same game as last time. 7-1 LVA Yukon Rush vs Houston Bulls WHO COULD HAVE EVER GUESSED THIS MATCHUP! 2-1 HOU Day Seven Philadelphia Reapers vs Minnesota Storm Rinse and repeat. 8-1 MIN Saskatoon Wild vs Halifax 21st Under normal circumstances, this would be a close game. Then you look at the sieve in net for Saskatoon and then you realize it isn't. 6-3 HFX Yukon Rush vs Las Vegas Aces Yukon comes off of their 5 game series vs Houston to play a superior team in Vegas. 5-2 LVA Final Records Team Name | GP | W-L-OT | P 1. Things didn't play out the way they should have and we ended up not making the playoffs. but it is a new day. yes it is. Interesting to try to predict games as I don't think I've seen this done before nor has it been done since.
