One Night in NYC Part 1

This is a recollection of the fateful night as Dalton Wilcox first landed in New York as the newest member of the New York Americans.  The details of this story are true based off of Wilcox’s memory (or not).

As Dalton Wilcox got off the plane at John F Kennedy Airport in New York City after being traded from the Prague Phantoms, he texted his buddy who had been drafted earlier in the day, @Elmebeck: “I’m here.  Let’s rage.”  Elmebeck drove up to the tarmac a Lambo that @Esso2264 graciously agreed to loan him, and said “Get in.  This city is ours”.

Soon the duo made their way toward the city and embarked on a sightseeing tour.  Elmebeck, who had only been in New York for several hours before Wilcox landed acted as tour guide.  They hit up all the usual tourist hotspots: The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, etc…  As Wilcox said “It was my first time in New York, so it was pretty cool to hit up those spots.  It’s always nice to see what NYC has to offer.”

As night came, the duo decided to hit up some of the popular night life spots in town including 1 OAK and TAO.  Being the new young hockey superstars in town, they felt like rock stars.  People were buying them drinks, the ladies were giving them a lot of attention and they even met up with a couple celebrities, such as Jay-Z and Beyonce.  They were having the time of their lives.

Wilcox recalled suddenly having a great idea.  “Why don’t we take this party all around NYC?  Why restrict ourselves to just these two clubs?”  Now this is where the night starts to get a little hazy.  Wilcox said Elmebeck had to do some post draft rookie stuff the next day so he decided to call it a night.  Elmebeck went back to his new condo with a pretty young blonde and left his friend.

After his friend left, Wilcox remembers heading to the next stop, the 40/40 Club that is co-owned by his new buddy, Jay-Z.  There, Wilcox had some drinks (only a few) and some other things (what he had, he wouldn’t say), but let’s just say Wilcox had a good time.  There, he ran into Tony Stark who was out with a couple of his “Avenger” buddies.

Mr. Stark, a big hockey fan, invited the new Americans star to visit Stark Tower for a quik tour.  Wilcox, who always loved superheroes as a child, agreed.   Inside the tower, Wilcox was amazed at what weapons and vehicles the Avengers had at their disposal. When Stark wasn’t looking, Wilcox quickly put on one of Stark’s new Iron Man suits and flew out of Stark tower!

Unable to control the suit’s power (it was a beta version) Wilcox started to lose control and started spiraling in the sky.  Wilcox looked for the highest place he could land, which at this point was the Statue of Liberty.  As he was falling, luckily the defensive shield mechanisms were automatically enabled (thank you Mr. Stark) and Wilcox made a crash landing on the torch.  Seeing Wilcox making a safe landing, Mr. Stark recalled the suit and it flew away from Wilcox and back home to Stark Tower.

Having consumed a bit (okay a lot) of alcohol and feeling the effects of the other things he consumed, Wilcox passed out on the top of the torch of the Statue of Liberty.

What happened next to young Mr. Wilcox?  Stay tuned for part 2 of “One Night in NYC”.

Review:

 - Well that is certainly a ridiculous way to start out your career in NY! Wonderful, energetic, and full of pep, this story has gone from a humble rookie stepping off a plane to a superstar loose in the Big Apple. It's got everything! I would have personally centered the picture under the title but that's small stuff in the big city.

Good luck there! See you around! Can't wait to read Part 2 @Dalton Wilcox
