All-Time IIHF Rosters: USA - The Near-Misses

F - (S50) Diana Maxwell, TPE: 1,126: The only thing keeping Maxwell from being on my Team USA roster is the fact that she has 71 points less than the next-lowest forward (Gabriel McAllister - 826 points). Maxwell has a trophy case full of hardware, including 2 Continental Cups, 3 Marlow-Marta Trophies, 2 Szatkowski Trophies, 2 Brooks Trophies, and a Playoff MVP. You could easily make the case that she should be on the roster over guys like Slaughter, Baldwin, or McAllister; it's basically a coin flip.  @street

 

F - (S38) Bruno Wolf, TPE: 1,165: For a short time, Bruno Wolf was one of the most dominant forwards of the era; his trophy case includes 2 Brooks Trophies, 2 Boulet Trophies, a Marlow-Marta Trophy, and a Slobodzian Trophy. I kept him off my list though, as all of these individual trophies were won in a 2-season span (S41/S42), and I felt that despite having such a high peak, Wolf's career stats did not hold up as well to the other forwards on the roster. @Kesler

 

F - (S2) Brannan Anthony, TPE: 498: Brannan Anthony was one of the most prolific scoring American-born forwards of his time. He currently sits 50th All-Time in VHL scoring, but what hurt his chances of making my Team USA was his near-total lack of individual hardware; in his entire career, the only individual award he received was a Mikita Trophy in S7. He was a part of many successful teams however, as he was part of a dominant Seattle Bears squad in S5/S6.

 

F - (S55) Bo Boeser, TPE: 870: My decision to cut Boeser from the squad was easier than the three above players, as he had the least amount of points of anybody on the possible roster. However, Boeser only played 6 VHL seasons, and was one of the most prolific offensive forwards of his time; there is no doubt in my mind that he would have made the Team USA roster had he played a full eight seasons. @DollarAndADream

Nah, not McAllister, 4th best forward ever.

I wish I could have let Bo Boeser ride out his career. It's too bad as a GM I had to cut his career short and rebuild.
