Marauders Presser week ending October 13th 2024

 

1. What is your players work out routine during the offseason?  Eat, Poop, Missing Pike, and lifting everything I see.
2. During the offseason, does your player stick to their normal meal plans or do they have more cheat days? What is their fave cheat meal? Grog eats everything he can and he drinks A LOT of ale as much as he can.

3. The team is planning an offseason team trip. What would be your ideal destination? Grog doesn't know this realm. He would chose white stone. 

4. The team is hosting a fan event before the start of next season. Are you more of an autograph person or a photo person? Grog can't write very well but with ale, he can be a great picture giant.

 

5. What is one thing you like about the Victory Hockey League? How welcoming you and others were to me.

6. What is one improvement you would suggest for the league? Honestly, from my heart and not grog, no idea. I am too new to notice this yet.

1. Adding one more high potential Defensemen would help balance how strong we are. 
2. Continuing to grow, now that I'm used to the season (as a First Gen), so much to learn about how to get TPE, apply them, and grow your player. 
3. Sadly no, France doesn't have a great pool of players
4. It's definitely a possibility given that there's no more VHE - it'll be close. 
5. This season - I think it'll be close but likely next season. 
6. Our goalie is a wall but with the disbanding of VHE, every team will have stronger players. I think a lot of high scoring games until we develop our chemistry and those defenders grow into their roles. By the time we get to halfway in the season, I think we'll have a solid team that will be competitive every night.

1. I am always for making the team better. Not against waiting it out though. 

2. Jagr just wants to win the cup. 

3. Honestly, didnt check the stats of my player. One win away from a cup though.

1. I think if we let the defence grow, there shouldn’t be a problem for the team, however, I wouldn’t be mad if the team improved  

2. I think Shaw wants to win the cup this season for sure, along with maybe getting some nice apples on the board

3. Yes sir! Shaw was apart of the JST, Pro-AM, and WJC. He did pretty well!

4. Oo I think that might be a bit though, I don’t know about first but he can definitely get up there

5. I think it’s definitely possible for Armas to get up there for sure, as long as we have a good season I think he does it

6. I think the identity this season will be based around our structural defence and speedy offence

1. I think adding players will have to be done in the flow of things, not forcing it as a necessity. The team is alright moving on with what we have.

2. Just earning TPE and improving further on last season.

3. I was selected to the Junior Showcase but I don't think it's happened yet.

4. You know what I think about penalty minutes at this point. Hopefully he won't be #1 all time

5. It's entirely possible. It is a long way to go but it's a very happy player to hit so why not.

6. Go get things done with every offensive line and stay solid on penalty kill

4.      Right now, after 6 games we only have 16 goals scored.  Do you think it’s just pre-season nerves or do we need to change things up?

5.    Is the VHL your only SIM League?  If not, what other leagues do you participate in?  What is your favorite?

1. Feels like we still need time to settle as a team. New faces, as well as needing D
2. Good question, I assume it does matter, since it's one of those explicit events. But I don't know how the sims work. IRL, I think they are critical - just don't screen the goalie

4. See #1 - we're still getting used to each other - trying to find the right line combinations, especially with all these high TPE players coming into VHLM with the VHLE disbanding. I assume we're all still getting used to the pace now.
5. Yes it's the first and only SIM league I've participated. Love to hear about others.
6. Founder's Cup hands down. Always team first.

1. Both are true. Start has been good but also there's a lot more in the tank for us over the course of a season.

2. I don't think they are underrated when it comes to the VHL, they are almost always covered in enough depth imo. In real life, it's part and parcel to the game.

3. Reapers or Kings. I seem to remember there were some better ones, but apparently not.

4. As a goaltender if you told me we'd be averaging nearly 3 goals scored as a team I'd take it every time.

5. No. I've been part of sim leagues for nearly 15 years at this point. I have also been in different roles in the SBA for six years soon, and just by association and the sport simulated it is my favourite.

6. This is the only player I'd ever answer I would rather win the scoring race.

4.      Right now, after 6 games we only have 16 goals scored.  Do you think it’s just pre-season nerves or do we need to change things up? Some tweaks could help but I also think it takes time for people to get the necessary TPE to improve. Patience in time.

5.    Is the VHL your only SIM League?  If not, what other leagues do you participate in?  What is your favorite? no I am in SHL as well. I like both the same. But I do like in SHL player portal you can see what tpe tasks you can do, makes new players job so much easier.

1. I definitely think we have to get better, however, one player that has to get a lot better is Shaw, he’s been struggling to start the year, and I think there are some changes to be made in his game

2. As someone who had Dabnad Shaw in the past, I think I’m obligated to say yes to that question lol.

3. I really really like the Mexico City Kings logo, though I don’t know if that’s simply personal bias, or the really cool logo

4. I think it’s a mix of pre-season nerves, and a bit of improvement needed, but I definitely think we can get better soon

2.     Were 7-11 right now and despite a talented offense we are struggling to score.  What do you think is the problem? Does Simon hate Miami?

 

3.     If you could change one thing about the VHL TPE earning, what would it be?

4.     Don Jagr just moved into 8^th overall in Miami history in blocked shots with 201, passing former Miami great Lionel Collberg. Don is 192 BS away from the overall lead currently held by Xiaoping Benguin Dinghao Aland (393). You think by the end of his career he can take the record?

1. I can see why some people would have two accounts. One is enough for me to focus on building a community. It's weird if you're just in it for stats. But I also think once you have a banned account, find something else to do. Or don't do anything stupid to cause a ban!

2. I think the larger gap of TPE is causing people to try to figure out what Simon is looking for. I trust Ricer to figure it out and make the necessary moves. 

3. I'd love something to do daily that could add up to 1-2 TPE, like do something 5 out of the 7 days (so it doesn't have to be every day)

4.  Trivia is fun, as I'm First Gen and still learning the team names/history/players. 

5. Just helping the team. Not sure my stats will show it but I'm trying to create a solid 2-way winger that will help teams win.

6. Chris Kreider, consistently a plus player. Great responsible player. Reasonable offense, can surprise with a 50 goal season if things go just right

1. I don't really get it, I am mostly just a clicker and having one account is a lot.

 

2. As I am writing this we are 18-13-5. The team is doing better but I know we have a lot more to offer.

 

3. I honestly don't know what I would change. I think the TP earning is pretty fair.

5. The goal for my player is to win best defensive defensemen in the VHL (hopefully many times) and help the team win games to eventually win the cup.

1. Bone-Breaker is averaging 3 hits a game so far, he'll step up and crush that 150 hits this season!n 200 even! Write it down!
2. I have thought about it and wonder how much work it is. It looks fun but it's weird since players can just decide to stop playing/participating, as opposed to real NHL/AHL/CHL, where this is their livelihoods. It also looks like a lot of work and this is my first full season of ANY Sport SIM. Fun so far!
3. Yes. Meat between bread. Why is it not!
4. With the dissolution of the VHLE, I think there's more of a chance to get 192 over this and next season. If he stays a Marauder next season, it's close and I think he does it!
5. Armas Jortikka is definitely unique but I don't want to offend any slavic countries!
6. I wouldn't make one - I love being a glue piece. I do think it could be useful but I don't know the sim.

1. I mean hopefully, it would be disappointing if he didn’t.

 

2. Probably not, it would be fun though. It’s just not for me.

6. I mean it would be funny to see what one could do but it definitely wouldn’t be helpful to a team. Boris is close enough to an enforcer but he still helps the team defensively.

2.         If you could be a professional athlete tomorrow, what sport would it be in? 

 

 

3.        Does your player have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?

 

4.        Our goalie Draw Mac @okochastar had two shutout wins in a row yesterday and 6 shutouts in the season.  He is tied for league lead in shutouts.  Can you make a case for him to win the Benoit Devereux Trophy?  

 

5.        We added veteran forward Marek Nowaczyk @Chillybro to the club via trade yesterday. A former Marauder, He brings some grit and offensive talent to the club and has some VHLE experience to add as well.  You think this addition puts us over the top in our tough Eastern Conference? 

 

6.        In game 7 of the Founder’s Cup would rather be the player that scored the game winning goal or the player that made the game winning assist?

4. He needs to continue to dominate as our team has gotten better. Miami has threatened a Top 3 in the League backed on Draw Mac's shutouts. Without them, we're near the bottom!
5. It's pretty tough but we just want to gel as a team before the playoffs. I don't need no regular season trophy - I just want the trophy at the end
6. Made the game winning assist - that's my strength. I would love a takeaway, drive up the ice, and find the open player for the pass to win the Cup!

5.        We added veteran forward Marek Nowaczyk @Chillybro to the club via trade yesterday. A former Marauder, He brings some grit and offensive talent to the club and has some VHLE experience to add as well.  You think this addition puts us over the top in our tough Eastern Conference? 

 

6.        In game 7 of the Founder’s Cup would rather be the player that scored the game winning goal or the player that made the game winning assist? 

1) TNT - AC/DC 

2) Hockey, NHL late 80s early 90s enforcer hayday. 
3) pregame shot of Blanton’s, neat. Just to get the juices flowing. 
4) Solid tender is the backbone of any successful team. Shutouts make it easy in the boys up front! Just score a geno and it’s a dub! 
5) Always good to add some sandpaper to the room…grit and glue…hallmarks of a team built to last. 
6) set up the goal…as a defensemen especially, my job is to feed the boys…set em op for success!

Before a match, he has a mental preparation ritual which includes listening to music to concentrate and relax. Unlike some players who follow a strict diet, Pasta also has the habit of eating a good plate of pasta before games, which he says is one of his favorite habits. He also puts a lot of emphasis on visualizing his game and movements on the ice, which helps him prepare mentally for the game ahead.

 

4. Our goalie Draw Mac @okochastar had two shutout wins in a row yesterday and 6 shutouts in the season.  He is tied for league lead in shutouts.  Can you make a case for him to win the Benoit Devereux Trophy?  
Well, at the moment I've only just joined the team, so I haven't had time to get to know my partners.

He can certainly bring experience to the dressing room and on the ice. I'm sure it will be good for us.

As a natural scorer in this situation, I'd say the one who scores the winning goal.

Miami Marauder Press Conference- Week of November 24, 2024 

 

1.        The playoffs are approaching and currently 4^th in standings in the East.  If we wree in the west we would be 1^st place.  Do you think the parody in the league is just because it’s the first season of the merge of the E?  

 

2.        Yesterday, Marek Nowaczyk @Chillybrohad his first fight as a Marauder and beat up an Ottawa player.  Do you like to see your player fight?  Do you wish it happened more?

 

3.        Huge shoutout to Draw Mac @okochastar who the all-time shutout leader in Miami history with 13.  Not much of a question but share some thougths? 

 

4.        Would you consider making an total Enforcer build with high fighting, checking, and grit?  Do you think it would help a team to have such a build?

 

5.        Who would you want to face in the first round of playoffs?

 

6.        Does pineapple belong on pizza?

1. The first season after E, GMs are still figuring it out in both the VHL and VHLM. I assume it'll take a few seasons and deeper drafts to settle out. 
2. I don't like to see my player fight but he should stand up for other players on the team. 
3. Draw Mac is our MVP, especially in this year of parity and 400 TPEs skating around. 
4. I wouldn't like it personally but I think the team should have one. Not sure what Simon thinks of it
5. Doesn't matter - we will be ready. Team gelling after the season of change and last minute trades.
6. Yes but that's not my first choice. I love the meat lovers (no pineapple), but my son likes the hawaiian (though he does bacon and pineapple)
