Dream team

So, I was debating options to talk about players I would have wanted to play or played together with in the past OR talk about players I hope I will have a chance to play with.

I decided to go with a group of players that are now retired but did not retire prior to S65. (That was the season when my player John Frostbeard was picked up in waivers and joined Philadelphia Reapers). So without much more to say, I am gonna go right in and talk about why these players are the chosen 6 to join my Dream team.

I don't think I can really go wrong with this selection. C - Ryan Kastelic. I believe that this beast who spent his whole career in Riga was an extremely important reason why Riga Reign has been so successful for so many seasons. His ability to score goals and play decent defence in my eyes is a great trait to have and added to that, knowing a little bit about Mr @Enorama (I did spend some time as a DC Dragon with John Frostbeard) I do think he not only is one of the most overlooked players of 60s Era, he also is an amazing person to have in the LR.

I don't care about anything so Podrick Cast is going to join Kastelic on this dream team. Who can really say anything against this beast of a player? One of the most dominant players of 60s, a recipient of many trophies and a winner of Continental cup. @Victor is also a seasoned STHS god who has cracked the code so I am gonna go with his wisdom on this team. Also, I do believe that Cast who spent a considerable part of his career in Riga will already have great chemistry with Kastelic and that always helps.

Matt Thompson. Many might think that it is sacrilegious to put Cast and Thompson one one team but I think that with them both on the same team they would have been the most unstoppable duo that VHL has seen in a long time. It is just sad that we never had a chance to actually see what they could do as teammates. It is already known how much @Beketov loves this player, hah - he even hasn't changed his profile picture. That said, I think that Thompson was one of the most amazing players to ever play in VHL. A true legend.

3x Continental cup champion, an amazing playoff performer and much, much more - Shawn Glade was a truly wonderful player even though his regular season numbers might now actually show the real power he had. His playoff runs with Riga, Vancouver and Seattle are all memorable and it is not a surprise that he has had 72 Playoff games in his 6 season career in VHL(Funny how he didn't even have a full career). A truly amazing player - @ShawnGlade - thanks for giving us a chance to see him play!

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen. When I was just starting to run VSN and we did Top 25 player list, we always had a question about Smitty and how high he should be rated and honestly, he could have been rated first every single time. A pure dominance on ice from this VHL legend. His ability to play strong offensive and defensive game made him a true force on ice. I don't think @flyersfan1453 really cares about that but honestly, when I was told that I am getting traded from Seattle I secretly hoped I will have a chance to play with him.

Lastly, Kallis Kriketers. In my eyes, the best goaltender of his era. Dominant, at the helm of Riga who have been making playoff like it is a stroll to go get milk. John Frostbeard spent a season with Kallis on DC but that wasn't anything to write home about, in the end, I just hope to one day share a career with @hedgehog337 maybe on Malmo on on Riga, who knows.

Well, that should be all! Good luck guys and see you next week!

The Sponsor's Shield tournament (RIP) actually had us together. It went very poorly. (Looks like Vic beat me to this point)

I actually did change it for a couple of days but then everyone complained that it was red and they didn't immediately recognize me so I changed it back.

Ah, well, I don't even remember that so it was too quickly for me to notice.

I've said if before and I'll keep saying it

People sleep on Shawn Glade OG. Didn't have insane regular season numbers, but is definitely in the conversation for best playoff performer in recent memory. Almost had a GPG pace in his playoff career, and even holds the record for most goals in a single run by a defenseman. Went to the finals in 4/6 of his VHL seasons, 6/8 seasons total. 3 cups, 72 games played. Also, remember when I got traded to Vancouver at the deadline and averaged like 13 PPG for the last week of the season? SG will go down as one of the greatest non HOFers of all time
