  1. Better be a guest appearance by @Jericho
  2. That's it for Season 64 folks - full season results to follow in a separate thread. For now, the final answers: 1. Who was the first Builder inducted into the Hall of Fame? (Question provided by @Enorama - 1 uncapped TPE to you) Slightly controversially, despite carrying the league on his back and simming for its first 14 seasons, it was not Scotty Campbell, but rather his replacement as commissioner Brett Slobodzian. Slobodzian of course started out in S1 just like Campbell and was a worthy induction but this decision never made sense to me. 2. Which player holds the record for the most points in a single postseason? Hey it's me! The early 30s, as the playoffs expanded to 3 rounds, were great for high playoff stats. First Radislav Mjers matched Scotty Campbell's record with 30 points as a defenceman in S32, then Elijah Incognito, another defenceman got in 34 in S33, before Alexander Chershenko set the still standing record of 36 points in S34. The final 2 capped TPE of S64 goes to: @Beketov @Quik @Esso2264 @Hybrid1486 @Sonnet @.sniffuM @Jubo07 @BladeMaiden @BOOM™ @Enorama @SlapshotDragon @SidTheKid87 @solas @DilIsPickle @DollarAndADream @Nykonax @hejta @GRZ @Toasty @Thranduil @LIL V O D AK @ShawnGlade @Rocketman04 @wcats @StamkosFan @Velevra @hedgehog337 @Inf1d3l @Ahma @McWolf @majesiu @Poptart @Philliefan @Tagger @SpartanGibbles @Anthony Matthews @hockeyis66 @Kirby @oilmandan @joeyboucher1 @leafsman @Dangles13 @flyersfan1453 @Devise @FacebookFighter @Josh. @Kisshan @SirRupertBarnes @Sharkstrong @Plate Nacho - who dis?? and 1 capped TPE goes to: @nethi99 @Bushito @omgitshim @FacePuncher

  4. If you cast your mind back to the S61 VHL Entry Draft, there was nearly a 3-way decision for the first overall pick. It wasn't really – Seattle was only going to draft a forward, while Quebec was pretty dead set on picking Samuel Gate, which meant it was really down between who would go first – Matt Thompson or Podrick Cast. Thompson was the leader in TPE, belonged to a league commissioner, while Cast's agent had just come back from an 8-season hiatus, so the choice was made. How does it look four seasons on? Well, Quebec certainly missed out by drafting Gate who subsequently went inactive and never looked like becoming a franchise leader. Cast now leads all S61 draftees in TPE and Thompson has also fallen behind Cast's linemate Edwin Preencarnacion, who was only drafted sixth overall. But TPE isn't everything and is quite close regardless. On the ice, both Thompson and Cast have nearly matched each other's production and are on the fast track to the Hall of Fame: Matt Thompson Podrick Cast Goals Points Goals Points S61 33 56 49 97 S62 76 150 79 174 S63 51 102 50 106 S64 56 110 48 102 216 418 226 479 Thompson had a slower start and was not quite as ridiculously proficient in the madness that was S62, but seems to be catching up, especially in goal-scoring. Thompson's S64 more or less matches Cast's S62 award-wise, as well as having the additional strength of Boulet Trophies. But it's all still to play for, although one of the two will likely be crowned best S61 player, with Preencarnacion currently projecting for third place, with increasing pressure by the late-blooming GM players Ironside and Louth. Did Seattle make the right choice four seasons ago? Based on playoff success and the fact Thompson is now heading to free agency – no. However, would the Bears have done better with a high-scoring center compared to a two-way winger? It's tough to say, especially given Thompson did his best to will Seattle to victory both in S62 and S64. Cast's playoff stats are much less impressive but do include a cup in S63. At the halfway stage, it looks like going down the wire.
  5. @Tyler

  7. Goodbye Twinger, shame you never got the individual productions you deserved here in Riga.
  8. This is one of the highest honours.
  9. I feel like S22 got a bad rap anyway. I mean it was shit but we've had worse.
  10. 1. At the time, I was surprised Materazo was protected last minute - assumed Zabby was going to become less active but still decided he was worth getting as a depth player. Obviously hasn't worked out all that well. I was also surprised Bronstein was unprotected, while Lavar Ball was by Toronto. 2. Makes sense for us cap-wise as you can control your own player better than trying to get Peace to not earn more TPE which wouldn't be fair. Sad to see Peace go because he was a key LR contributor but then players are gonna have to leave anyway sadly. 3. Yeah, based on what I've seen so far, I think there'll be more instant VHLers and should be just as deep. 4. Riga and Helsinki will be back again for sure. Seattle and Vancouver will be a bit weaker but can't be written off and will definitely be in the playoffs where as Toronto proved anything could happen. Don't expect anyone else to step up and become a serious cup contender just yet though. 5. I don't think I've been to a live draft since coming back as they've all been at night. I do remember I managed to make quite a few consecutively back in the day, especially when I was commish - I think we had a majority east coast + me population so time zones were less of an issue. But I can't give you an exact number. 6. Pretty easy yeah, minimal negotiations. I think the players I was looking at for 6th overall will probably match Gebauer over their careers but I'll be very unlucky for them to be better than him so it's a more sure thing than I'd have by keeping the 1st. Plus he was very keen on joining Moscow. 7. I hope so, depends is offense league-wide goes up. I'll be disappointed if I fall out of the top 5 performers given the TPE but how good that is is out of my control. 8. I know for a fact another expansion is in the short-term plans but the specific season is TBC. I doubt it'll be the very next season but we'll crunch the numbers during S65 and see if it would make sense or not. 9. Great question - I don't know. If you look at probable Hall of Famers, you've got Stopko, Ironside is on the right track, Arroyo still has time too, while there are other cup winners in the past with no HOFers. If you look at regular season performance, again some lower ranked teams have won it before. If you look at TPE, it's harder to compare but there's been some surprising winners before. Toronto will be near the bottom but where exactly... might be a future MS. 10. Not particularly - I'm actually quite glad he finally performed like his TPE levels. And it wasn't against us so it didn't affect me personally. Early on in S64 I was looking at his stats and thought he might struggle to get into the HOF which would have been very unfortunate, but he's pretty much guaranteed now. Of course, in terms of there being one less good opponent for us, it's good, but I wasn't waiting for it to happen.
  11. I don't think he knew, well not from me anyway.
  12. same lol. We can therefore safely term this the lost decade of the VHL.
  13. Just saw the emoji in Trifecta’s post - I do miss that perennially disappointed eagle.
  14. Spent two days recovering from the finals, poor guy.
  15. Awww I really thought Boom would stick it out on one team this time around.
  16. Cute.
  17. See ya @Peace shame we couldn't win one last season. You'll be missed in the LR.
  18. Have all the time in the world for players who want to be here, welcome to Moscow @Sova!
  19. and Davos finally won a cup again!
  20. No Thompson wasn't an unbelievable season either. But Stopko was just a good save percentage really. Thompson had more things he excelled at.
  21. Lol Beketov is no more my buddy than you are. .930 save % is good but I never look at it against other goalies in a specific season, its how good is .930 historically? And it's towards the top but not unreal.
  22. Well at least he's admitted it!
  23. You guys realise it's a regular season award right? Not sure Stopko had an unbelievable regular season.
  24. What was Chase even doing in the 1st period?
  25. Underrated signing here clearly.
