Has Kingfisher given up on life?

Ron is a HOFer I reckon, was best dman for 2-3 seasons. What's the TPE record? Wasn't it 1400 so McAllister already beat it I thought.

Has anyone ever set out writing a Fan 590 also known as a VHL.com article also known as a XM Radio thing with the sole purpose of writing exactly one hundred and fifty (150, CL) words? Not to talk some utterly useless garbage and elongate every single word that it is possible or say the same things in a variety of different ways, or extend a sentence for no particular reason other than to extent a sentence much like I just extended that sentence about extending a sentence just then. No, not to do what I had described in the words which immediately preceded these words. But to hit precisely one hundred and fifty (ein hundert und funfzig) words, not one more, not one less. Is the minimum word count even still one hundred and fifty (cent cinquante)? It would be be very unfortunate if it in fact was not.

1. I briefly was, but it's picked up now and he's around where I would have expected - 2nd best center in the league behind Canmore. Didn't expect a repeat of last season so keeping this pace and remaining top/near the top of the S61 draft class will keep me happy this season. 2. Not really but it's more fun this way. Ideally, contenders should roll out 10 players + goalie, obviously our cap situation has allowed for more. Usually, this means we won't win the cup but it's usually the best part of the team cycle, after the rebuild, but before it gets stale. 3. Didn't know too much about him before the incident, other than rich guy who helped Leicester win the Prem, but sounds like not just a rich, but a good guy too. Very sad. 4. Depends on cap. On ability, looks like Peace, Dabarno, and Shan will be VHL eligible but can we fit them in? Hopefully, but there's also guys like Pajari and Crimson who have a bit less ice time this year and we're only losing Shephard. 5. I mean it was my suggestion so pretty pleased. Think it's a good move although I think he's swapped out for Twinger now. Regular season not a huge deal, but in the playoffs that balance could make the difference. 6. Doubt it, we used to have Team UK when the Knights were around which was basically 2 guaranteed players, but that was a bit of a spark that then went away. Team Europe is safer, any individual country fluctuates too much.

What might actually help this is going back to the ancient system we had where 6th season retirement had 15% carryover, compared to 10% in 7th season, and 5% in 8th. It was very much the thing to retire in your 6th seasons (unless, but also often even if you were having a great career) which was why the carryover structure changed. But if there's a real problem with burnout, increasing that incentive again is a simpler solution IMO.

Is there demand from people to make depth players? We've got the concept of second players but this loses sight of why people want second players in the first place and just tries to compromise based on some of the counter arguments made. I don't think anyone's interested in a compromise on second players.

If you're going to add so many restrictions, what's the point in the first place?
-
There will always be support for this because it sounds cool. Especially now with so many people who've joined after it was abolished. It just dilutes the experience, it's conceptually incompatible with the premise of this league. Create a player, not two players. Why stop at two anyway? Again, it's undeniably an appealing idea. It just doesn't last past the initial excitement. And yeah, that's addressed a bit by staggering but it was staggered last time too. The idea of a lottery just makes people sign up without thinking and then all you get is members who don't care about either of their players anymore.
-
To just add an additional point so it's not just "we tried, it failed, forget it", although to be honest that's all that needs to be said IMO... We're seeing discussion about how STHS gives you about 4-5 different player options overall, including goalies. Should we really be encouraging people smashing through those player builds at double the speed?

https://vhlforum.com/topic/30543-two-players-the-proposal-so-far/ Throwback to when I thought this was a good idea in case anyone has any doubts. There's something from Einstein about insanity and all that.

I basically made it happen last time. Molholt's idea but I did this write up and all and pushed it along. It's dead, I'm sorry, this is one mistake we should never make again. I'll be honest, it really happened because we didn't have enough active members. And I still think that it kept things moving just long enough for the league to not die. Got us a couple good drafts in a decade where most were absolutely shit (imagine if it was like S58/S59 for the entirety of the 50s) and that was important but it was just that, a stopgap solution. It's messy, it's unnecessary, and I appreciate the excitement about the concept because I have literally been in that position 2 years ago but its not a healthy addition to the league.
