Going with Queefson here based on the numbers. Guy balled out all playoffs long.

I see Sjin as a candidate for MVP more than here. Lead the league in points basically all season, on a team that found themselves on the top of the standings a few times so the high +/- doesn’t speak to me… sjin isn’t a two way they’re literally just goat talk and MVP caliber lolll

I don't think he is the winner of the award, but he only had 5 less hits than Williams, 33 more SB (and more than any player on this list), same amount of PIM, and both players with 3 points of another. I was just giving a shoutout since his numbers were close, even or even above in certain categories. He didn't have the hits though to be the winner, and I fully acknowledge that.🙂

Gauthier with some insane stats in the VHLM. 2.26 GAA, .917% and 8 shutouts. We had a lot of games being outshot, and without Gauthier San Diego would not have been a top tier team. He also faced the second most shots by only 20, and Halifax only had one defenseman while we ran 3-4 majority of the season. It speaks volumes, No doubt the MVP here IMO.

Big shoutout to Dodo, 100+ points as a defenseman is very impressive and just shy of 30 goals. Props also to Francis for a great season.

Sjin had 98 points, more SB than anyone on here and the best +/- in the league. He had less hits than everyone here so I can see why he would not win, but wanted to show him some love.

I will cast my vote for Sansoe. Good offensive production, hit total and led this pack in SB. Not a bad +/- ratio considering the situation either.

    Hi all,

Due to an extremely busy summer work schedule that would prevent him from properly fulfilling the duties of his role, @badcolethetitan is stepping down from his position as Mexico City GM. He has done an excellent job in this position, and we're very sad to see him go. We hope that he returns to the M as a GM in the future and wish him the best of luck with his VHL career.

We're extremely appreciative of the strong candidate pool we received for the Miami and Saskatoon openings, and have decided to select someone directly from that pool due to the time sensitivity of this position with the VHLM draft on Friday. We're excited to welcome a former GM back to the ranks:

Looking forward to the draft this Friday and the upcoming season!

Arce reacted to Daniel Janser in a tale of two Brothers // Go West!!!
    Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg
    (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats)

The news are out. Daniel Janser will dress one last time for Team Western Europe. Nico Pearce will also be on his international farewell tour and try to defend the title. There were some surprises in the nominated roster, as Gonçalves, arguably one of the best centers in the VHL was not invited to the party. We were also mildly surprised when repeat cup winner Marcel Janser was on the list for the defending Champion. The Swiss veteran defender has only played in the S83 WJHC team, which won gold. Interestingly, he played in the final against three of his later London Cup winning team mates Cat, Retoslav and Yasilievich and even scored an assist in the process.

On the other hand, there were some familiar faces, if we look back at the S86 World Champions: As already mentioned, D. Janser and Nico Pearce return to the international stage. But so do Lavelle, Jameson and Laperriere up front, Maellard, Nano and Strasmore on the blue line as well as Cole Pearce in net.

It would be amazing, if Marcel could lift another trophy this season and so win the double. He is the living, breathing evidence that one can have a respectable career, even if one is not the most talented player in the league or the roster. He has proven that with hard work, consistent play and the willingness to sacrifice your body for the team can take you a very long way, up to and including a Continental Cup win. He may have no individual awards to his name, but he won two cups, something only a tiny percentage of players can boast. In fact, there are household names and HOFer like Mike Szatkowski, Christian Stolzschweiger, David Knight and Devon Marlow-Marta who 'only' managed to get to the pinnacle of the VHL once in their illustrous careers.

The World Cup is due to start later this week. So let's have a look at the ProAM tournament which is running at the present. The Bangor Beavers are second in the standings with one point deficit against the Steelheads (but two games in hand). Daniel has picked up speed and leads almost any relevant statistics for forwards. The Rotkreuz native is top of the league in goals scored, points, shooting percentage, power play goals, hattricks, points per 20 minutes and longest nose hair. He is amongst the top ten in assists, game winning goals, shots, +/- rating and only fellow Beaver Cooke has a marginally better win rate at the draw.

So while the Janser brothers have eclipsed their zenith and are on their way out of professional sports, they are still kicking and setting an example for other aspiring Swiss youngsters. They have been tempered in hundreds of hard fought battles and found good enough to compete with the best. Once retirement comes around and it is time to say goodbye, Marcel and Dan can raise their heads high and proudly say: 'We have given our best.'

Until such sad day dawns, please find Dan's statistics for the ProAM Tournament:
    25gp, 27g, 28a, 55pts, +14, 14 PIM, 57 hits, 20sb, 3 gwg, 10ppg, 63.85FO% and 3 First Star distinctions

Arce got a reaction from Subject056 in Moscow Shakes it Up Blockbuster Style
S89 will look different for the Moscow Menace. From in between the pipes all the way out to the core of forwards Moscow has changed majorly offensively, defensively and goaltending wise. Moscow felt it needed a major shakeup after another early exit as they lost in heartbreaking reverse sweep to their rivaled HC Davos Dynamo. This after Tomas Sogaard captured the Kevin Brooks Trophy, securing 51 goals on the season. Ronan Lavelle captured the Mike Szatkowski Trophy, securing 109 points on the season. And Hammar Voss in the running for the Sterling Labatte, and Alexander Valiq trophies after recording 26 goals, 87 points, 230 hits and 155 shots blocked. Goaltender Matt Murdock had an up, and down season. Murdock was lights out the first 3 games of the Davos series, but it was a completely different story the next 4. That was Moscow's season ins a nutshell. It came to an end in frustrating fashion.

Now what? GM Euron Leonidas wasted no time getting busy in the S89 season. He feels it was time to make some big time changes to the team. Moscow made a blockbuster trade with the Prague Phantoms acquiring forward Jason, defenseman Deron Nesbitt and goaltender Clueless Wallob in exchange for forward Jason Argos, goaltender Matt Murdock, Moscow's S89 2nd rounder, and Moscow's S91 2nd rounder. Prague was looking to shed cap and get a little younger in between the pipes. Moscow was looking to stack up their forwards with Jason and get a budget friendly defenseman in Deron Nesbitt with the uncertainty with defenseman AK 92 Wit da Hoodie. It looks like with this trade Hoodie will not be in a Menace uniform in S89, making his future uncertain. Wallob and Murdock are very similar in terms of skill, with Murdock being younger. Murdock will be missed in the Moscow locker room but Wallob is a very welcomed addition and should give the Menace the same competitive edge. Jason joins a forward core of Tomas Sogaard, Ronan Lavelle, Fraser Wallace and Left Alone. Nesbitt will likely be joining a 3 defensemen system with Hammar Voss and The Mediocre One. This system has found it's fair share of success when running a high talent of forwards and having a good goaltender in between the pipes. Wallob can and will rise to the occasion. He will be backed by one of the best backup goaltenders in the business Sam Tombstone. A two goaltender system can help make or break playoff seeding. Moscow is wise to keep that in tact, rather than referring to the bot backup.

"We are going to miss Matt for sure, but we are absolutely thrilled to have Jason, Deron and Clueless on board." forward Ronan Lavelle said. "The atmosphere here is awesome, and I think they'll really enjoy it. The past 2 seasons have really been disappointing with early exits after a great regular season. We are hoping these guys can help us turn the tide." Lavelle concluded. Jason has been a 30+ goal scorer each of the last 2 seasons, and is looking to climb closer to 100 points this season. Jason is a built goal scorer, joining two others who know how to shoot the puck. This could create a real nightmare for the opposition's defense and goaltending. Deron Nesbit is coming off of his best season yet production wise. He had 76points, 64 of which being assists. With Moscow's core of forwards, Nesbitt has a chance to build off of this and set new career highs. Nesbitt is a pass first defenseman with smooth puck handling so this should make the transition up the blue lines more productive for the offensive. Clueless Wallob is coming off his best season stat wise as a goaltender. He recorded 42 wins, a .927 save percentage and a 2.53 GAA, while also recording 4 shutouts. Wallob did not have the playoff performance he would have liked against London, and will most certainly be looking to rebound in S89. With these 3 key additions, will this be enough to get Moscow over the hill they have run into the past two seasons?

    Hello all,

Now that we're in the offseason, @Gustav  and I have a fairly minor VHLM rule change to announce. However, it does affect one of the core eligibility criterion of the VHLM, so it deserves a formal announcement.

Currently, the definition of an "active" player in the VHLM is as follows:
While we strive to give every member a quality VHLM experience, we've realized that a portion of this definition allows for behavior that we feel is counter to the purpose of the VHLM. The minors are meant to engage, retain and above all, develop players so that they are prepared for the VHLE and the VHL. Currently, posting on the forums counts towards activity - so a player can choose not to earn any TPE at all as long as they're somewhat around the forums.

This will be changing to the following:
Essentially, the change eliminates forum posts as "activity" in regards to remaining on a VHLM roster. We strongly encourage all VHLM players to never stop earning to stay down intentionally, so players must update to remain eligible to play. This will help nudge players to continue earning and updating, and closes a potential loophole.

Second of all, if you were active anywhere between S67 and S72, you may remember an offseason tournament held between the VHLM commissioners at the time--@Banackock and @diamond_ace--called the Commissioners Cup. And, as Bana said in a status update from 2021 that I don't know how to link to, "Greens haven't had the drive to get er done since."

Well, good news, VHLM: @Spartan  and I are here to change that. Introducing...the revival of the Commissioners Cup, starting this offseason! The basic rules are as follows:

The Commissioners Cup is a best-of-three series featuring the best of the VHLM, facing off against each other on two teams, one drafted by each VHLM Commissioner. The two teams, TEAM GUSTAV and team spartan, will consist of 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalers each. Any player who spent the last season in the VHLM is eligible for selection. That's it! Winners receive bragging rights, and 40 of you get to see your player in a few sims this offseason.

Spartan and I will hold our draft live on stream, Wednesday night at 8:00 Eastern. Hope to see you there!
