  1. A Batch of New Wild Faces It's been a busy week for Saskatoon Wild GM Shawn Gretzky. SASKATOON -- A Wild team that has already been considered a championship contender this year, has seen a recent import of new young talent within the last week. WIld fans will have to familiarize themselves with the names of Daring Do, Jake Scheel, Les Clarke, and Ryan Hamilton. Since the arrival of these four players, the team has won four out of their last seven games in high scoring fashion. A team lead by star player Bo Boeser, the new crop of forwards in Do, Scheel, and Clarke, has provided some much needed offensive support. The team lacking in defensive depth, Ryan Hamilton provides a solid defensive partner for offensive defenseman Trazan Apansson. Daring Do has shown her offensive capabilities in the early going in her seven games with the Wild so far. Leading the rookies with 11 points in seven games. Scheel, a two-way center, has impressed as well with seven points in seven games. Clarke, a power forward, is off to a slower start with four points, and the blueliner Hamilton has two assists. The offensive support from the group has given the Wild a second place position in the VHLM thus far. The forward group will be looking to the guidance of Bo Boeser, who has had quite the stellar season so far. Nearly producing two points per game, his 46 points in 24 games places him in second overall in scoring. Only Les Clarke has been placed on the same line as Boeser. However Daring Do and Scheel sharing the second line responsibilities on the team has proven to be doing wonder for both players offensively. The arrival of these new fresh faces has not taken long for the Wild home arena to be decorated in their likeness and memorabilia. Jerseys have been selling off the racks in the result of the winning results. "We like where we are right now," said winger Les Clarke. "But we know we can be better. We want to keep winning games and be the team to give Las Vegas their first loss. We think we're capable," he added. All of these four rookies are eligible for the upcoming VHL Entry Draft, with Scheel and Clarke projected to go in the first round, followed by Do and Hamilton, according to recent early scouting reports. With plenty of time left in the season, it is possible that all four players find a way to go in the first round. It'll be a huge testament to the talent being developed in Saskatoon this season. GM Shawn Gretzky may be looking to add one more piece to the puzzle that could potentially push this team even further and plant doubt into early predictions of a Las Vegas championship season. Whether or not that happens, he should be happy with the changes made so far.
  2. Scheel has been proving to be a great pick up for Sask. Glad to be on your side.
  3. Yeah man! Glad to see you still hanging around these parts.

  5. Les Clarke Hailing out of Quebec City, Quebec, hockey came naturally to the Clarke family. Les' family grew up with the WHA and NHL incarnations of the Nordiques. His parents were season ticket holders from the inaugural season. However, Les was born a year prior to the Nordiques being relocated to Colorado. As the Clarke family raised their young boy without a proper NHL team to support, (and not once considering moving over to become Canadiens supporters) it would be a tougher introduction to Les than other kids in Canada. Mr. Clarke took young Les to the newly ressurected Quebec Remparts' home games once he was old enough to sit and appreciate the game of hockey. However, without the fan fare and all-star appeal of the NHL being absent, Les was not very impressed. Perhaps hockey wasn't going to be a part of his life, they thought. Les was an average student, never wowing or impressing teachers. Despite that, his parents were proud, no matter where their boy would go. It wasn't until one day a young Les was flipping through the channels one Sunday afternoon. A Tie Domi fight that he caught a glimpse of had him trying to find that channel again. Domi's pompous and aggressive nature reeled him in, like a moth drawn to a flame. With the rough and tumble style of power forwards during the 90's, this was exactly what Les needed in order to find his niche, and his eventual career path. As Les finally fell in love with the game, he started to learn the old and new way the game is played. His adolescent years became the initial kickoff period for the faster and more skilled breed of players. Standing at 6'5", Les kept falling behind in those two departments. Many early morning and late night practice sessions with minor league coaches proved to not have much effect on his development. It was around this time when Les needed to find a position. Naturally, coaches would refer the kid to play defenseman. But his love for power forwards kept him away from truly putting in his all during games. This became evident to Les' father. One night at the rink while Les was working on shots from the point, Mr. Clarke kept a close watch on his son, noticing his less than stellar results, and the lack of motivation. Mr. Clarke made the approach to Les to begin his transition to a forward. Les was weary at first, thinking that his desire to be forward over a defenseman would deter coaches from playing him all together. When the chance to play forward was given, he ran with it, and hasn't looked back since. Watching players like Wayne Simmonds, Milan Lucic, and Brad Marchand, the young Les modeled his game after these NHL All-Star power forwards of the modern era. Trying to shake off the old fashioned way of power fowards, his game molded and morphed into the aforementioned players. His junior years were upon him, with high regard for the tough winger. Being paired with highly skilled players, the number 18 right winger was always a force to be reckoned with. He made sure his line mates were protected from other team's grinders, as he would try to do the same to the opposing team's scorers. His junior career didn't prove to impressive to many. He went two NHL Entry Drafts undrafted and overlooked. Not even a free agent contract was sent to Clarke's way. Lost and directionless, Clarke was sure this was the end of his hockey career. Perhaps his stone hands and his slow stride kept him from an NHL contract. It was probably his short fuse temper that resulted in many idle minutes in the penalty box. Despite all that, Les kept on playing, for the love of it. Out of the group of players in beer leagues, Les stood out. He was the fastest, he had the best hands, and he scored the most points. His teammates and opponents were left dumbfounded that a guy as skilled as him could be left out of the NHL. Word started to spread around town about Les Clarke, and the hidden diamond in the rough. The Alex Staal Player Agency had seen it's better years. After being inactive for nearly two years, not being able to attract any clientele, the office shut its doors and laid in waste.A beer league goalie that was beat on a breakaway by Clarke couldn't believe what had just happened. Number 33 goaltender Blaine Olynick found Clarke after the game, and wondered what he was doing in beer leagues. It was almost fate. From there, Olynick was able to call his former agent, Alex Staal, and paired the two. Both being without a vision and directionless, it started to pay off well. They were just what each other needed in order to find their step and fulfill their purpose in life. With the connections the agency has to the Victory Hockey League, Clarke was able to rejuvenate his career in ways he never thought possible. He had attended Quebec City Meute games in the past, but after his failing attempt at the NHL, he assumed the VHL would be out of reach as well. He gained lots of attention, once word had spread that the winger would be eligible for the upcoming VHL Entry Draft. VHLM teams sent offers to Clarke's camp and he settled on joining the Saskatoon Blades. In an offensive heavy league, Clarke was afraid his play would be useless. But when there's a lot of offensive, there comes a time where defense and physicality needs to be brought into play. That's what makes Les Clarke valuable to VHL teams. Clarke will most likely never shatter any records, or lead the league in goals or points. Right now, representing his country in a World Cup tournament is an afterthought to him. The opportunity to get a second chance at life is more than enough for Les Clarke. What he lacks in skill and speed, he makes up in the passion and love he shows for the game he plays every night.
  6. Les Clarke Position: RW Hometown: Quebec City, Quebec Height: 6'5" Weight: 220 lbs Shoots: Left Fresh new face on the VHLM scene Les Clarke made his announcement last week that he will be eligible for the upcoming Season 55 VHL Entry Draft. Not long after that, after mulling over offers to join several VHLM teams, Clarke decided upon joining the Saskatoon Wild. Before he steps onto the ice for his very first professional game, we'll take a look into the scouting report of the right winger from Quebec. The Positive Les Clarke has got the intangibles that any competitive team would ask for. He is an old style hockey coach's wet dream, and more. With his 6'5" frame, Clarke's office on the ice is located in front of the net. Using his height to his advantage, screening the goalie and taking up space, Clarke has become a natural net front presence. Could be guilty of a few dirty goals and pucks off the body from his teammates as well. His bread and butter. Using his long reach comes in handy during board battles and offensive rushes. The winger will use that reach of his to swipe the puck away to nearby teammates in order to keep possession. Clarke has also been seen using his big body to peel away forecheckers and protecting the puck. A bulldozing power forward. He falls into the mold of the old style power forward. Clarke doesn't shy away from using his strength to instigate and bring intimidation to the game. In high paced intense games, a big hit from the right winger could turn over momentum or wake up the home crowd. "He's a player's player," said his old high school coach. "He does all the tough stuff and plays the role that don't appeal to many kids now," he added. The Negatives Being 6'5" also has it's cons. Not the fastest player on the ice. In a sport where the skaters are only getting faster, Clarke falls behind on rushes. Don't depend on him to execute on any odd man rushes. Also falls behind when going back on the forecheck. Clarke usually finds himself balancing out how deep into each respective zones each shift. Most scouts will tell you that his discipline is the most glaring negative of his game. Clarke's temper could cost his team games sometimes. When found in one goal games, Clarke falls prone to committing penalties that could result in goals. Some call it playing with passion, but most will say it's a short temper. Proceed with caution. Loves to model his game after Brad Marchand, but doesn't quite put up the numbers that Marchand has in recent seasons. His scoring is decent at best. Early projections show his potential to fall as a complimentary scorer on the first line of a weak team, or a second liner on a strong one. He relies on highly skilled line mates in order to produce.
  7. I've got about $50 in GameStop giftcards from Christmas that I've yet to do anything with. I was thinking about using it for a Nintendo Switch, but I remembered that I'm not 10 years old. The list of games also don't really grab my attention. Any suggestions?
  8. Updated with correct attribrutes

  10. I knew my math wouldn't check out.
  11. Your presentation was mediocre at best. Left something to be desired. When I leave again in two years, I expect you to bring something better to the table.
  12. Mentally preparing myself for Everton to sell Lukaku and (maybe) Barkley. Rom could for a pretty penny. Things are looking scary for the blue side of the Mersey.

  15. Been messaged several times about returning. Didn't give it much thought, really. But I told myself, "eh, what the hell, why not?" Can't promise as much activity as before, but some of you know how my love for this league runs deep. Can't wait to catch up with you goons
  16. This wasn't easy for me. With my life making a complete 180 degree turn, I cannot dedicate the time to the league the same way I did. With me having opportunities to get my foot in the door for my future, family planning to move, work, school becoming more and more important, it's been a struggle the last few weeks for me, which explains my inactivity. In which case, after speaking to Boubabi, I've decided to retire Blaine Olynick and step away from the Cheap Kitchen Sale. I cannot say whether or not it will be temporary or permanently. If I could, I would stay. I really would. But I'm sure many of you out there can understand where I'm coming from. When and if my life ever gets easier for me, without a doubt I will plan to come back and recreate. But for now, that will be all from me for the time being. Blaine Olynick was/is a scrub, etc, etc. I love you guys. I really do. I hate that I'm doing this. - Adrian
