  2. Season Review Heading into the season, the self proclaimed "King", King Czar III was an unknown name, another inactive third round pick. He was an oversized, undrafted, underhyped draft pick standing 6'8 and 250 lbs. His skating wasn't great, his endurance was terrible, he missed every check he threw. And then he got drafted by the Helsinki Titans, a team he has sworn to be loyal to until the day he is forced out of this league after 8 seasons. Czar was a long shot of a pick, but I guess that is what General Managers do after the first round anyway. After having a brief conversation with General Manager Jake Wylde of the Helsinki Titans, King Czar was signed to a $3,000,000 contract which was absurd for any third round pick straight out of the draft. A week later, rumors were floating around, about the "King" staying up in the VHL to play with the big boys. The rumor was infact true, and no one knew what General Manager Jake Wylde saw in this kid. Then, they saw the first game he played, King Czar III had already made history by being the first third round pick to suit up for a VHL game in the season he was drafted in, he also broke an unofficial record that same night, when he scored his first goal on his first shot in his first game of the season. Not only that, but Czar put up a tremendous effort defensively and kept the opponents off the scoreboard. General Manager Jake Wylde had seen something in this kid that no one else had, and now he was reaping the rewards. A few games later, veteran defenseman, Mr. Svodoba, announced he would be retiring at the season's end, which put a ton of effort on the "King" to perform at an elite level as the new #3 defenseman of the team in only his first season. It didn't go very well as the Titans were kicked out in the first round of the playoffs. Be it by coincidence or just bad timing, but when Svodoba was dealt away and Czar was put in the #3 spot, Helsinki began to lose many games and dropped from the best team in the league to the 3rd and final seed. This upcoming season poses a new challenge for the "King" as he hopes to accomplish what he could not last season, and that's to successfully lead the Titans to greatness. It's been said Czar is known more for than just his play on the ice, but also the leadership skills he possesses in the locker room while still only being a rookie. This next season is to be an improved one for the young star.

  4. It's almost been a whole season since the VHL Season 40 Entry Draft had taken place on September 22, 2014. Of the first five picks, only 2 teams held the selections. The first two picks were property of the Cologne Express and the last three picks of the Top 5 were property of the Toronto Legion, two up and coming rebuilding teams. Let's check in on the Top 3 draftees in this edition and see how their doing in the VHL right now. 1) Thomas O'Malley Team: Cologne Express Position: Center Jersey Number: 14 Height: 6'2" Weight: 200 lbs Birthplace: Boston Scouting Report: Thomas O'Malley is a center that is born to score. A very fast player, on any other player, his speed would be his best attribute, but it's not. He is up there for fastest player in the VHL, and his puck handling is elite enough to stay up there with him. Of course, as a center, he can win faceoffs and pass the puck at a superb level. His shot is his best attribute and his two-way play is constantly improving day to day. 2) Mason Kahne Richardson Team: Cologne Express Position: Defense Jersey Number: 15 Height (inches): 6'4 Weight (lbs.): 216 lbs. Birthplace: Riverside, California, USA Scouting Report: Mason Kahne Richardson is a very good offensive minded defenseman. He is blessed with excellent hockey sense, confidence and coolness. Everything looks so easy and natural when Richardson has the puck under control in the offensive zone. He is a true power specialist that usually gets the puck on net and also delivers very good passes. Furthermore, he is mobile and a capable skater with good agility and technical skills. His defensive IQ is the best part of his game according to many scouts and it is spot on. Richardson is a leader on and off the ice for the Cologne Express. 3) Tyler Cote Team: Toronto Legion Position: Center Jersey Number: 19 Height (inches): 74 Weight (lbs.): 208 Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Scouting Report: Tyler Cote, a pure center, excels in all three zones, and has shown dominance in all areas through his career in the VHLM. His high-end playmaking ability and vision compliment his natural abilities as a center, but he has demonstrated, especially this season, a keen ability to put the puck in the net. To put it lightly Cote is as smart as they come in this year’s draft. Pick whatever key phrase you like " Slows the game down" "buys himself time" He is a pleasure to watch and his goal scoring ability is a treat for all to see. Cote has good size for a center and the skating ability to translate smoothly to a higher level. He needs to work on his faceoffs, but for many centers breaking into the VHL, this is something they need to fix.

  6. Helsinki Titans Weekly Update The Helsinki Titans faced HC Dynamo in their first game of the week and ran up the shot total very quickly on the struggling Dynamo. Goaltender of Dynamo, Lennox Moher was named the first star of the game for good reason and was the only reason the game was even close. The Helsinki Titans put up a total of 37 shots on net, Lennox stopped 36 of them. Moher didn't have a lot of help from his defense or his forwards as the Dynamo only tallied a total of 9 shots in the game. Moher played excellent and was the only reason the game wasn't a complete blowout on the scoreboard. As great as Moher played, the Titans didn't let up and Don Draper scored the game winning goal on the power play from Jake Wylde and Damon Tyrael. The Helsinki Titans faced the New York Americans in the second game of the week and it wasn't very close on the shot totals. The Americans finished the game with 37 shots on net and the Titans had 18 on net themselves and it inevitably was not enough. 4 minutes into the first period, Xin Xie Xiao of the Americans scored from Simon Tremblay and Bennet Wahl. Just a minute later, the Titans rallied back with James Faraday scored his 19th goal of the season with Chris Raymond and Jake Wylde getting the assist. In the 2nd, the Americans scored another very early goal just 30 seconds into the period with Bennett Wahl scoring his 23rd of the season with Xin XIe Xiao and Same Keeler getting the assists. The 3rd period had no goals but the Americans dominated the game giving the Titans no chance to mount a comeback. Kimmo Salo had a .946 Save Percentage and was the only reason the Titans remained this good. Brick Wahl had a very good game as well with a .944 save percentage. The Helsinki Titans faced HC Dynamo a 2nd time in the week, but the story of the game was sort of the same with the Helsinki Titans outplaying the HC Dynamo consistently throughout the game. HC did very well in the first period, matching their shots one for one and held the Titans off the scoreboard. In the second, the Titans inevitably converted with Jackson Miller scoring his 16th with assists from Willem Janssen and Don Draper and Damon Tyrael with his 28th just a minute apart from Jake Wylde and Jackson Miller. With no goals in the third, Kimmo Salo ensured a second straight shutout against the Dynamo. Lennox Moher had a .957 Save Percentage as the game ended and was again, the only reason the game was close.
  7. Catching up with the Titans It is a season to remember for the Titans fans in Helsinki as it was the true beginning of the #TitanTakeover, and is still ongoing at this point in time. The Titans are doing very well so far in the season and are atop the entire VHL at this point with 22 wins, 5 losses and 3 overtime losses for 47 points so far this season. They have scored 103 goals for this season, the highest for any team this season in the VHL, and have allowed a league best, only 51 goals against this season. They have an amazing +52 Goals Differential and the next best in the European division is Vasteras with a +12. And we're just gettting started with the #TitansTakeover, the Titans are currently on a 5 game winning streak and have played absolutely amazing in their last 10 games played with a 7-2-1 record and 8-1-1 at home ice and 8-1-1 on the road. Individual Performances Newcomer Damon Tyrael has been a veteran leader in the locker room so far and on the ice. He leads the team in goals, is top 3 in assists and leads the team in both points and hits, not to mention his +/-. He has 20 goals so far, along with 25 assists on the season with 45 points and a +31 rating. He also hit around 136 people so far this season, but has taken tons of hits and kept going with 109 hits taken so far. One thing, and the only one that he hasn't done is block shots. He has only 9 shot blocks on the season, but it won't matter, he's blocked tons of shots. The man on defense is sophmore scrub or bust, whatever you want to call the one that lost the ROTY is Don Draper himself. This is his breakout season for the young gun, and it's going absolutely amazing thus far as Draper has scored only 6 goals, only infront of Tyson Stokes and the "great" one, King Czar III. Even with scoring only 6 goals, he has an amazing 36 points on the season and if you do math and carry the 2, you can see he has 30 assists on the season and leads the best team on the VHL in assists. But, other than that, the guy's a total bum, he's hit only 8 people so far and has taken 70 blows himself. But the guy has courage, he's stepped infront of 40 shots for his goaltender. Speaking of goaltender, Seth aka Kimmo Salo hosts a 0.922 save percentage and a 1.54 GAA so far with 22 wins and 4 losses and has gotten the 1st star 3 times. Penalty shots aren't his thing though, with a 0.250 penalty shot percentage. Other big names include William Janssen with 39 points, Vojczek Svodoba with 33 points, Jake Wylde with 32 points, and James Faraday and Jackson Miller with 22 points. Tyson Stokes and Christopher Raymond are great depth guys already chipping in 20+ points. And of course the rookie sensation, King Czar III with an oustanding 2 goals and 7 points, leading the team out every night because no one tells him he can't.   9. The King called a press conference this afternoon after proclaiming himself as the 4th "A" and also giving himself more PP time in the lineups. He even called the press conference himself. When General Manager STZ and dat scrub Draper heard about it, they were not surprised, and also in no way, shape or form, did they try to stop this. Let's listen in on this conference. Q: "You've named yourself as the 4th Alternate Captain although the VHL allows only 2 Alternate Captains and Helsinki hasn't named an off-ice 3rd. How do you explain that?" The King: "I don't like the number 3, or else I would've taken that instead. The Rulebook is wrong. Czar is right. Czar is love. Czar is life." Q: "Mr. Czar, how do you think your veteran teammates feel about this?" The King: "The word "rookie" is only a word, the vets don't disagree with this, have any of them spoken up?" Q: "But sir.. we heard you silenced them when poor James Faraday tried to denoun--" The King: "We will not speak of this matter" Back to the Station We got a picture of Faraday and what the King and his minions had done to him here. Most say the Czar was generous enough to even give him the padding, so we'll take their word for it.

  11. All the good teams in the history of the VHL have tons of skill on the back end and up front. The great teams have the same, but there hasn't been a "great" team in the VHL for a while now. For most analysts, there is no difference between good and great, except for one. The great team has an enforcer that can straight up play and knock out some teeth. Straight up goons are a dime a dozen in hockey. It takes a special player to be an enforcer. The biggest difference? Goons can chuck the knuckles, but offer little in the way of offensive upside. An enforcer, on the other hand, is feared for his ability to scrap or intimidate, but can also put the biscuit in the basket. The Helsinki Titans are on the verge of being a great team. They have the offense, they have the defense and they have the goaltending. They also have the enforcer. Standing at 6'8" and 250 lbs from Moscow, Russia hails King Czar III who scares the opponents out of their skin just by looking at them. He has been playing Top 4 minutes for the Titans this season and has not looked out of place at all, racking up 10 PIMs and 17 shots blocked, he has 5 points in 19 games thus far. The very disturbing thing about Czar is that he hasn't even gotten into a fight, most people find that funny but Czar's enemies know the true tale. No one is brave enough to face the King in one on one combat out on the ice. That's the only reason he hasn't fought in a game yet, he wouldn't want to get suspended or anything. The King made his debut this season scoring a goal in his very first game on his very first shot, that made history (unofficially). Another record broken by the Czar is that he's the first third round pick in history to force his way into the VHL by going over the TPE Cap limit and forcing the Titans to play him. In these games, Czar is playing close to 30 MPG recently and is handling himself very well for a "rookie". He hits, he scares, he shoots, and he scores goles. So far, he has played a total of 412 minutes over the season and has helped his team to a 14-3-2 record while being a +2. Czar isn't the greatest player on the team, and he never will be. He knows his role even as a King, he must embrace it. Without Czar in a couple of years with Vojczek Svodoba retiring at the seasons end, Helsinki might be in trouble as they'll need someone to step into the #3 role that may just be the King himself. For now though, the King just continues to hit scrubs and score goles.

  15. Czar and VHL 15 Don't get off to a Good Start Everyone knows about the not so new anymore next generation consoles the Czar Box One and the Czar Station 4. Well, the King after reaching the VHL, got his first paycheck and spent it wisely. He bought VHL 15 and ordered one of his minions to make a custom cover and put his face on it. The servant, aka 44, obliged. The cover can be seen below. Czar was pleased with the cover and decided not to destroy Jarome on that day. Opening up the game fast, he put it into the Czar Box One, and even though it was for the wrong console, the game worked. Only for the King. Quickly scrolling down to the Helsinki Titans in Be A Czar Mode to be himself, the King was outraged when he found out he wasn't on the list. Frustrated, he snapped his controller in half and through it through the T.V. Trying to make himself in the game, (Yes, the game still worked, even computers obey the King's commands), he was about half way done before the T.V had started short circuiting. Of course, he demanded his minions hook him up with the nearest T.V as fast as possible, or the King was going to go pay EA Sports a visit. That's a picture above of the neighbours house, let's just say.. their T.V may have mysteriously gone missing. There was no HDMI cable in the T.V and Czar got his stick out.. and, you can tell the rest. An hour later, King Czar was on the private jet plane straight to the EA Sports Headquarters to get a word with the crew about the blasphemy of leaving the all star of the VHL off the VHL 15 video game for the not so new anymore consoles. Just as he was getting off his private jet, landing it in the middle of the busy street. The King was interrupted by security, and this was supposed to be peaceful meeting the guards droned on and on, and in an attempt to frisk the King, Czar took out his stick and went to work, very good at this new skill he found that the VHL Rulebook called "Slashing." If this was a game, Czar would've gotten 2 double minors, and a game misconduct. The King backed away, very impressed with his work and proceeded to go inside the building acting as if nothing had happened. Just giving a look at the front desk staff scared them into telling them the VHL 15's developer's room number, name, house address, and personal phone number all written down neatly and quickly. The King didn't take stairs so he crowded into the elevator, his head almost hitting the top of the elevator shaft. The elevator music was driving him crazy so much that the King hit the speaker phone hard, almost stopping the elevator, but hey.. at least the music turned off. And then he arrived at the floor. *To Be Continued*
