  1. Things have been coming together well for the Ukrainian in Travis Boychuk. With a prolonged amount of hockey in his hometown he made his way up the ladder to being claimed by a VHLM team. The Ottawa Lynx. The Ottawa Lynx have seen better days since hitting a low point this season, but with many new acquisitions the season seems to be taking a turn in the right direction. Travis Boychuk joined the team with a few others and it had a major impact towards the organization. The Ottawa Lynx had a terrible beginning to the current campaign. They started off on a 7 game losing streak. They broke it off with a win but didn't gain much momentum, while going on a 9 game losing streak shortly after. Travis Boychuk joined the team with some others, and the season has had some bright spots. Boychuk has a respectable 5 goals and 12 assists, for 17 points in his first 16 games with the club. He is also one of the few players on the team with a positive in the plus/minus category being a +2, leading his team in that regard. He is proving to be the same player he was before he came over to the VHLM, making big strides in this league. Travis Boychuk is showing to be a magnificent passer, finding his teammates in the right spots and is already gaining a great amount of chemistry with his teammates. This is an easy thing to realize once you look at his point production in goals compared to assists. The Lynx organization should look forward to a bright future for Boychuk. Not only is he providing offensively, but he is also proving to be exceptional in the face-off dot. Going up against some of the VHLM's top guys, he is boasting a 54.23% success rate in the circle. While it was something that the scouts looked forward to in their research on Boychuk, nobody was 100% sure that it would carry over to the VHLM. The strength and size of the VHLM is much more than what Boychuk has experienced in years past, but he is excelling nonetheless. Many people thought that joining a falling team like the Lynx might have a negative impact on Boychuk, and that it might put too much pressure on a player coming over to a new league. He has slashed all of the doubts in everyone's minds, and is thriving under the pressure. Travis Boychuk has found instant chemistry with the team and has been nothing but capable of handling his own. Since Boychuk has joined the team, he has helped to carry the Lynx into a playoff spot. This seemed like a bit of a long-shot after the horrid start to the campaign. We can only be positive while we dream of what lies ahead for the kid.
  2. Renter seemed to get a little blurry lol. I hate how freakin' rusty I am.
  3. I haven't used Photoshop in a long time and haven't downloaded it since getting another computer, so I switched to GIMP. GIMP just confused the heck out of me since I'm so used to PS. This sig looks like crap though.
  4. Same pic I used for my media spot. I think I'll take this one over the one someone else made me. The Benn one I have is great but I just think my guy is more Zherdev-like than Benn-like.
  5. My Canucks had a wonderful game tonight. 9-1 DUCKS! Quack! Quack! Quack!
  6. I'm trying to work on a sig of my own at the moment for the TPE, but it yours will probably be way better. Travis Boychuk. Preferably using Nikolaj Zherdev as a render, but with a #23 since my guy is #23.
  7. His many fans in the Ukraine will be ecstatic as Travis Boychuk has been claimed by the Ottawa Lynx. A newspaper reporter has been able to get in contact with Boychuk to get his thoughts on the matter: " I'm excited to join the Lynx and look forward to helping the team with their success. They have some good pieces on the team and I'm thrilled to move past juniors into a bigger league. I am positive that I will be an asset to the team and have a strong contribution to the organization. It has truly been a long road to get here and I want to do my country proud. First and foremost, I want to improve my skills as much as I get and get as many minutes that I can as well. The main goal is to help the team with the big picture and maybe catch the eye of the scouts up above. " It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Travis Boychuk, and the future is looking bright.
  8. Yeah I was definitely around back then. I've been on CDC for awhile, but usually stick to the Gaming and Canucks Talk sections. Recently, but not too recently I switched my name from trav_have to DollarAndADream.
  9. Being a Ukrainian myself......HEY! Learn the name.
  10. The journey to the VHL is a difficult one for some of the youth in Europe. Coming out of the Ukraine, it is not a common theme for stars to rise from that specific part of Europe. One 18-year-old Ukrainian has been making strides in their junior program and looks towards the big stage. The name of this player? Travis Boychuk Born in the Ukraine, Boychuk has been playing hockey since he was a child. He looks to build a stronger reputation for his country in the big leagues. Growing up, he watched plenty of hockey at home and always heard about the big names from his country. Those names being the likes of Anton Babchuk and Nikolay Zherdev. He looks to be placed alongside his countrymen as one of the greats out of the Ukraine. Through the junior ranks, Boychuk led his team in scoring, being one of the fastest on his team and a reliable centerman. He tried to build his game around his idol Nikolay Zherdev, and had a knack for the faceoff dot as well. His coaches have always said that he is one of the best skaters in his league, with very powerful strides. This young man has a major asset in vision also. He will spot his teammates up the ice and through sticks with great patience. Even more so, he is a mainstay on the junior team's power play. Constantly floating around in the open areas ready to retreive and release the puck for a scoring chance. After this year being his last in junior, Travis Boychuk has his sights set on the pro ranks. He is currently eligible to be claimed by a VHLM club and awaiting the offers. Multiple scouts truly believe his skills will translate to the VHL after some steps in the minors. After all, the VHL is a different kind of game with bigger bodies. Boychuk has bounced around the forward positions over the years, but in this past year he played the full season in the center position. Boychuk has a strong hand off the faceoff dot and seems to excel in the middle of the ice, spotting his partners up the ice. Being one of the biggest prospects out of the Ukraine in a long time, he hopes to continue to flourish up the ranks. He still believes there is much to his game to build and wants to make a name for himself in the VHLM. Rumors have it that he already has a claim on him right off the bat. Travis Boychuk is a winner. He goes on the ice to win the game, and he simply just finds the puck. Always propped into the open areas of the ice, he seems to find his wingers with ease. Without a doubt, he is a Ukrainian stud. Travis is excited to find his place on a new team and be a leader on the ice.
  11. Devils are what originally got me into hockey back in the Stevens days. When they had Gionta and Gomez, when Gomez was actually good. I was into hockey before obviously, but watching Canucks game around that time they were just terrible to watch.
  12. Yeah I've posted quite a bit on CDC over the years. 12,000 and counting. Definitely a Canucks fan myself. Devils fan also. Not just because of the Schneider trade though. I was a Devils fan before a Canucks fan actually, years and years ago.
  13. New member here. Looks like a very interesting league to me, and I'm upset I wasn't introduced to it long ago. I hail from Burnaby, BC, Canada. You know, the city right beside Vancouver.
