  1. Woo! Win in the Semis! I scored in the shootout. Boo ya.
  2. Wow I lost every face off. I did score a shootout goal though. GO EURO.
  3. Boychuk's Training Regime The VHL for all players is a huge step in their career, no matter where you come from. It is a big push to move from the minors to the big leagues and requires a ton of heart to make it there. Just because you make it to the VHL, does not mean you will stay there. This is a challenge that all professionals hope to overcome to be truly considered one of the greats. With the amount of top talent in the league today, it is no simple task at all. For the man selected 8th overall to the Calgary Wranglers in Season 37, there is a fair amount of weight on his shoulders. The team in Calgary has much history within the organization, but these days they are not considered a competitor. The Wranglers have been a bit of a bottom feeder lately but there are high hopes of a comeback with Travis Boychuk coming into the VHL. Calgary has a reliable goaltender in net with Martin Brookside and recently acquired defenseman Godavari Yumalatopinto. With this kind of talent coming in, the Wranglers are starting to get somewhere. -------------------------------- Boychuk scores a goal for Europe in the World Cup -------------------------------- This off-season, Travis Boychuk has been training rigorously awaiting his arrival in the VHL. Every young player who leaves the minors has a certain amount of nerves going forward. This young center knows this is a big step and has been tweaking his skills accordingly. Boychuk will step in as a center to be relied on heavily in the face off circle, where there is a great deal of elite competition to be had. " I have on the ice every single day aiming to perfect my game. The talent in the VHL will be very different from what I was experiencing in the minors and I am very excited to start. My face offs I have been working on especially. " Aside from chipping away in the face off dot, Boychuk has been shooting plenty of pucks at the net. With all of his time off, he is still always present on the ice. Travis has not been known as a goal scorer throughout his career, but stepping into the pros he wants to fix that. Mainly, he has been known as a legit play maker with vision that is on another level. With a new jersey on the horizon, Boychuk has been perfecting his wrist shot. " In the past I have not had a whole lot of luck with hitting the net, but during the summer I have been working with the Calgary coaches trying to get better at it. It is somewhat a work in progress. " ---------------------------------- Boychuk hustles for the puck while playing for the Turku Outlaws ---------------------------------- Through the duration of his career in the minors, Travis has never been a clear cut superstar for any team. In Ottawa, he was in the shadow of Kostantin Azhishchenkov. KJA as he often goes by, outshone Boychuk while they were on the Lynx. In Turku, all forwards were outscored by the extremely productive defense core. Coming to Calgary, Boychuk has the chance to make a name for himself among the top in the game. " My goal this year is to get noticed. I want to bring Calgary a Cup in the long run, but I know that will not come right away. I want to make the Wranglers a team to look out for soon. " Travis Boychuk is widely considered a workhorse, and this is the kind of lifestyle fans can expect from him. If he has errors in his play, one can bet that he will aim to fix it immediately. The path of his whole career has revolved around hard work and determination. If you are a fan of the Wranglers, you can expect exciting seasons to come.

  5. I would like a new sig of Travis Boychuk to suit my next season with the Calgary Wranglers. Only preferences would be maybe to have whoever it is to be wearing a jersey with a 3 on it and Wranglers patches on the arms. For example, my current is Nichushkin who is #43. I don't know, just make it have Wranglers colours with a forward on it that looks similar to Nichushkin or Zherdev. Thank you.
  6. We lost to the Mercs because I wasn't used in the shootout. If I was used we would have won guaranteed. Svobo, where are you on all these scoresheets? I'm not doing a ton either though, so I shouldn't talk.
  7. Lost because I wasn't used in the shootout.
  8. Only 1 assist for me also. OUTLAWS, alumni! As long as our goalie keeps playing awesome.
  9. Any Outlaw is welcome with me in Calgary. I will be always be an Outlaw at heart. .....and also a Lynx.
  10. #bros4life #Svobochuk4Ever Get yo ass over to Calgary so we can stay together.
  11. I wouldn't say he "stole" it. Shots were 25-21, so it was a pretty even game. Olynick was just solid in net and Rush did jack on 8 power plays.
  12. Game 3: Rush vs. Royals Game 4: Rush vs. Royals
  13. I was just joking around. Calgary is lame. The city is boring as heck, there's not much to do.
  14. Calgary, #5!? Future Wrangler right here is skeptical.
  15. Boychuk's End of Season Article With the season come and gone, and the Turku Outlaws being eliminated from the post-season, Travis Boychuk looks towards the VHL. It has been a strong showing for Boychuk in the VHLM, while putting up respectable numbers on the Ottawa Lynx in his rookie season and the Turku Outlaws this year. He has experienced all the ups and downs of being in the minors while on two completely different types of clubs. One might say, he has been seasoned for the big leagues. In Boychuk's only 11 games in his VHLM Playoff career, he had accomplished 10 points. On a Turku squad that was so focused on defensive scoring, this centerman played up to par with what was expected of him even though he only scored the lone goal. In the playoffs, Travis Boychuk maintained a 60.85% in the face off circle. His head might be focused on what he did not earn this post-season, but anyone can look at him and know what he brings to the table. This season on the Outlaws will be one to remember, and his season with the Ottawa Lynx was a good thing to experience for a youngster. That should bode well for him in the VHL with the Calgary Wranglers. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ In total, Travis Boychuk scored 123 points in 128 games played. For a man adjusting to the North American game of hockey, these are magnificent numbers. Of those 123 points, 40 of them were goals. This is expected of a player with a pass-first mentality like Boychuk. The skill and precision of the pass that Boychuk possesses are one of the many reasons that he was drafted 8th overall by the Wranglers. When you look at this player, there is no in between the lines. You know from his numbers that he brings a solid game night in and out. With the season over and done for Boychuk, we have the off-season and next year's stint in the VHL to look forward to. With that in mind, we have an exclusive interview with Travis on his thoughts: Interviewer: Your season and the playoffs for Turku is now over. How do you feel right now? TB: I am very disappointed. Not to discredit the Bern Royals, but we have a great group of guys in Turku and I could not say enough about the guys here. I thought we had the will to win it all and I wish I could have done more myself. Olynick was very on his game and was unstoppable at times. We were stunned in that Game 6. Interviewer: You had a recent interview where you came out and stated you were stressed being unable to produce. Any more on that? TB: For awhile there I could not buy a goal. I wanted to come out and produce for my team. I did end up with 1 goal in the playoffs, which to me is not enough. Everyone considers me a playmaker but I have worked on my shot a lot this season but it just did not seem to work in the post-season. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Interviewer: Now that your run with Turku is done, what are you looking to do in this off-season? TB: I will continue to work as hard as I can to get better before I start in Calgary. The main goal is to get stronger and keep working on my shooting and passing. I definitely do not want to get rusty before I start in the VHL. It will be a little bit before Training Camp starts but I am very excited. Interviewer: Next season you will finally be in the VHL, the league you have been playing your whole life for. How about that? TB: I am ecstatic to start my career there. I very much want to make my mark in the VHL and I am getting my chance to do that. I am going to try my best to cash in there and help bring the city of Calgary the Cup in the long run. It will not happen next year, I know that, but everything has been a learning experience thus far and will continue to be. This is my shot to play with the big boys and I want to be a trusted centerman there. Interviewer: It is well known that your team in Turku are close, and now you will have new beginnings in a new jersey. Are you ready? TB: It will be sad to be separated from my teammates on the Outlaws. I had a very fun time on the ice and in that locker room. I will continue to keep in touch with everyone there and watch them play. Turku is a place that I became attached to and it will be difficult to leave. I'm going to try and moniter my teammates' careers and I hope to see them on the ice in the V.

  17. Travis Boychuk's Scoring Woes The VHLM Playoffs have gone underway and the Turku Outlaws have looked strong so far. The 1st Round is over and done with, and we are currently in the beginning of the 2nd Round. In the 1st Round, Turku faced off against the Bratislava Watchmen. As strong as the defending champs were, the Outlaws got by them easily in just 5 games. Scoring 31 goals in just 5 games, one of have to believe they the Outlaws had scoring from everywhere. This is not the case, as the star centerman Travis Boychuk has been struggling. Throughout the 1st Round, the 2nd line of the Outlaws came through the fold in a big way. Kinkaid, Valentini and Svensson are up top in points for Turku with their star defencemen. Boychuk on the other hand, is in the middle of the pack and all of which have come in the form of assists. Travis Boychuk has 6 points in 7 games, and is a -1 thus far. This is not what analysts were expecting of the 1st line center in the post-season. Lucky for him, the Turku Outlaws are as deep of a team as any would want to be. ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------- In the 2nd Round, the Turku Outlaws are faced up against the Bern Royals, and the series is tied 1-1 at this point. One would think, that if the Outlaws want to get far in these playoffs they will need Boychuk's help to get there. He needs to find a way to hit the net in this series. With 21 shots on goal in 7 games, he should find the net if he continues to work hard. Against the Royals, Boychuk has 1 assist in each of the games so he is still producing regardless. There are some positives in these playoffs to Boychuk's game, and that is in the face off circle. All of Travis' previous work has paid off as he is boasting a 62.92% currently. In recent articles about the player, it was mentioned in interviews that Boychuk was working extremely hard on getting better on the dot. His face off skill has noticeably improved and it seems he will only get even better. During the season, his face off percentage was in the mid-to-high 50's range and he has now hit above 60. The proof is in the numbers. On such an offensive minded team, you would expect a 1st liner to find the net eventually. As the games go on, we will be looking for Travis Boychuk to regain his form from the regular season. We have caught up with Travis with a few questions: ------------------------------- ------------------------------- Interviewer: How have the playoffs felt for you so far? Last season in Ottawa your year ended after the regular season, and now you are in the 2nd round. TB: It has been a thrilling ride so far with a lot hanging in the balance. It's a different feeling in the post-season and there is much more riding on your shoulders. With such a loud building in Turku it has been very fun. Interviewer: Any changes to your game since the season ended? There have been many eyes on you and you have not scored a goal yet. TB: Trust me, I am working on it. All I can do is keep shooting like I have all year and we will see what happens. I have played a little more defensively but that is not an excuse. I am lucky to be on such a talented squad so the spotlight is not so much on me. It seems like the bounces just are not going my way. ------------------------------ The 2nd Round of the VHLM Playoffs has been as exciting as ever, and we expect it to get better as time goes on. It will be interesting to see which juggernaut comes out on top, as many teams have looked just as tough as the next.
