Hello devoted readers of the Express Gazette, it's been a while hasn't it? Since we last spoke a few things have happened, including us losing 2 of our expected top scorers to the VHL within 24 hours of the season start date. That's ok though, I wrote a big ol' article and vented my frustration.... for better or worse.... on whoever would listen to me. I've had some talks with some higher ups since then, and I'm confident that we can expect some rule changes for next season. Now the current state of the Cologne Express is that we are tied for first in the VHLE standings! You might wonder how we got here, and well the answer is trades, trades, and more trades! After some lovely conversations with the VHLE teams that are tanking, we were able to acquire a top tier forward and an active defenseman in Bushtit and Calix Peace to help stabilize our roster. Since the acquisition of Bushtit we're on a 14 game point streak, 12-0-2 in that span, which is very very good in my humble opinion. So while we don't have any picks in the top 3 rounds of this season, I see us as the team to beat currently in the VHLE, and we really don't have any weaknesses. With Jericho in net, and of course the young Dusty Wilson getting in here and there, our goaltending is among the best in the league! We have 3 forwards and a defenseman in the top 10 in scoring, which again is very good, and hopefully we can maybe take over even more of those spots as the season goes on. I'm just really happy with how we're playing, i love the locker room dynamic, Zeph has been a great AGM, things in Cologne have been better than... ever! Signing off, Barzy
