The Riga Reign have once again loaded their guns for another playoff run. The past three seasons have seen them do the same thing to no success. First it was Kameron Taylor and Malcom Spud who came on for two seasons, but the rest of the roster was too young and they couldn't make it past the experienced Davos team in the European conference finals.
Then last season it was Jakub Kjellberg and Niklas Valiq and the whole league thought the Reign had a great chance but once again they fell short to the Dynamo in a tough fought 7 game series which left a sour taste on the whole team's breath.
This season the Reign went even more out bringing in Niklas Lindberg, the man who's dominating the league this year, Jarkko Olsen, a proven player with lots of experience of winning and Ville Sixten, a good depth defenseman who has also been to his share of finals. With a very developed roster in the prime of their career, this puts the Reign as the best team on paper and this could finally be the year they get over the hump. With Davos in a rebuild their biggest foes are not in their way but can they get to the finals, and more importantly, the cup? Only time will tell.
