  1. 1) Out of the players brought in through free agency/waivers post-draft (John Madden, Bobby Power, Brick Wahl, Mark Gebauer, Evgeni Komarov, Divaani Sohva, Finn Davison, Jonathon Hill, Kyson Blake), who do you think will go on to have the best career? Finn Davison, he already made an excellent choice joining Haterade 2) What are your thoughts on the player management section of the portal? Anything you'd like to see added to it? It's awesome and really looking forward to how time-saving it is in keeping me active here. 3) Who is the one member in the league who you would like to play on the same team as? Arthur, I'd love to create a good chemistry with this exceptional goalie - Tristan Iseult 4) If the VHL or VHLM were to ever expand, what cities would you like to see represented? More Europe so I can feel closer to the home. 5) Who do you think will be in the top four picks in the Season 64 Draft Class? Ryan Sullivan Jr. , Ryan Zabby, Gucci Garrop, Bo Axelsson 6) What would you say is the best graphic that you've seen on the VHL? I love the sig I got, but also the banner is really nice looking.

  3. (S64) Piotr Jerwa Defenceman Age: 19 6' 3" 218 lb. VHLM Drafted: S63 SSK 4 Polish player Piotr Jerwa was born in Kraków, in Poland. He moved to Bankhead, Alberta in 2013. Joined the VHL at the end of the S62 and was picked up on waivers by Oslo Storm to be drafted later with the 20th Overall Pick in the S63 VHLM Dispersal Draft by the Saskatoon Wild. Soon after he was chosen as Brand Executive for the Haterade. Strengths +Defence He always focused on the less glamorous end of the game. While not necessarily the strongest or the quickest man on the ice, he is certainly the smartest when it comes to positioning and quick, smart-witted decision requiring split-second reaction to prevent opposing teams from scoring. He is specializing in penalty kill minutes, preferring to rest during the power play opportunities, leaving that to more offensive-minded teammates. +Skating Jerwa was practically born in skates and living in the mountain heavy part of the country always had an opportunity to improve this skill, whether during a game of hockey or just skating on neighbouring lake. Not being overly bulky also helps his overall ability to move on the ice gracefully and find the best paths to quickly move from one side to the other and move the puck out of the blue line most efficiently. +Leadership One thing that is often overlooked when assessing prospects is how they respond to various difficulties and how they impact their teammates. If previous points weren't enough to convince you of Piotr value, this one certainly should, because of his selfless play, he is well-liked in the clubhouse. His biggest focus is always on winning and keeping a good atmosphere in the team because one with the other often goes hand in hand. He is always up for a bigger challenge, which is evident by taking a bigger role as Brand Executive at such a young age. Weaknesses -Shooting What he noticed early is that a lot of players focus solely on their shooting ability and never stop improving it during their career. While it's probably the single most important ability, if you have 5 great shooters on ice it's still far less valuable than 4 great and 1 good passer. That's why he decided to improve other facets of the game. His shot is decent, but don't expect him to score bangers from blue line often. -Checking Piotr comes from different school on defence, that isn't as physical but more sophisticated. Brutal force is often effective, but is also high-risk strategy, because of penalty risk, and what good comes out of you if you force your team into less than ideal man down situations? While he can, and sometimes does, hit people he shies away from that, prioritizing proper positioning and shot blocking. -Strength As mentioned before he is more of a finesse than a physical player, which is visible in his style of play. He rarely goes into fights or physical altercations preferring duke moves and passing the puck to a teammate in a more favourable position. Obviously, if some situation arises when he needs it (to survive the hit, or in the rare faceoff opportunity) he is in disadvantage, but more often than not his unique style of play is conducive to the team success. With Season 63 VHLM soon to be started look out for Jerwa smart defence and involving other players on offence. I'm sure if you look at more than a scoreboard you are going to see how impactful player he can be, even on the VHL level.

  9. 1) The VHLM Draft has now concluded, which team do you believe had the best draft? SASKATOON WILD - They drafted me with 20th pick after all 2) Of the players that were selected, who do you think has the potential to be the biggest surprise? Piotr Jerwa - 20th pick for one of the quickest growers that will likely spend at least two seasons in VHLM 3) With the VHLM rosters starting to take shape heading into the start of the season, who do you think will be the best team this season (You can view the teams HERE) Saskatoon Wild have a nice mix of vets and new players and should be in contention. 4) What are your thoughts on your new General Manager (If you also have a VHL team, you can use this to talk about your VHL GM) He seems nice, especially since it is a new role for him. 5) How did you find out about the VHL? Through other sim leagues, mainly PBE . 6) If there was one thing in particular you would like explaining about how the VHL works, what would it be? The regression, how much, when and tips how to fight it.
  10. It's an honor and Haterade is already active in the market, expect the endorsements offers soon!

  13. I guess
  14. Username: majesiu Player Name: Piotr Jerwa Brand Preference #1: Haterade Brand Preference #2: Mike (I'm fine with others too) Why should we choose you?: I'm active in many sim leagues (PBE Commish, DSFL GM in NSFL, Top earner in SHL (and of course in PBE, NSFL), similarly to recently joined SBA (League Writer), EFL and here) and looking for new challenges, that are more laid back exactly like this one. This seems really optimal because I can easily organize time for it when I need to focus more e.g. when tinkering lines (have some limited experience with STHS) for Sponsor’s Shield tournament and organizing the initial recruitment for the Brand Team. Would be a great opportunity to learn about the league as a whole too. Love the idea in general too, really refreshing look at filling the offseason, which is usually a boring downtime for players in the sim leagues.
  15. Jerwa Continues Development After joining the VHL at the end of last season Piotr Jerwa wasn't able to play a game yet but decided to go very demanding routine spending some of the time in Oslo Storm practice facilities before going over the ocean in preparations to the upcoming S43 VHLM Dispersal draft. That routine included: - Morning mountain hike to build up endurance, while listening to motivating materials and strategy guidelines - Very energizing breakfast and watching the video of best defenders of all time, studying all the possible quirks - Hockey practice with the big focus on positioning, skating and passing. Other attributes aren't forgotten but slightly less time is spent on them like puck handling, scoring, checking or penalty shot and discipline. - Hitting the gym and using all possible equipment including Elliptical trainers, Rowing machines, Stair-steppers, Stationary bicycle, Treadmill, Ankle Weights and doing basic stuff on the exercise mat. - Regeneration phase hitting cryotherapy, sauna, massages - he plans to have a long career and you can't disregard taking care of your body even early on. Even though he joined the draft pool quite late, Piotr is sure he did everything possible in his power to raise the stock and become best possible hockey player in such a short amount time and is looking hopeful to find a new team via the upcoming draft.
  16. 1) To be honest if not for a great newsletter I'd be really lost. There are opportunities for TPE left and right and I'm used to one subforum system for point tasks, activity check and weekly training system. It's very easy to miss stuff.1) What are your thoughts on the league thus far? 2) Which VHLM team would you like to be a part of next season? (Can find the current VHLM teams here) 3) What are the long-term goals for your player? 4) Who from the NHL would you compare your VHL player to? 5) How did you arrive at your choice for your player's name? 6) What attribute(s) do you think you will be focusing on first with your player? 1) To be honest if not for a great newsletter I'd be really lost. There are opportunities for TPE left and right and I'm used to one subforum system for point tasks, activity check and weekly training system. It's very easy to miss stuff. 2) Ottawa Lynx is the only team to reach out so I'd be delighted to join them 3) To win as much as possible and leave a legacy of a team player. 4) That's hard because I hardly follow NHL outside of occasional playoffs matchup. I guess some Polish player - either Krzysztof Oliwa or Joe Jerwa. 5) Look above - just changed a name and kept the surname of historical player. 6) Defence, Skating and Passing. I'm not after big stats and these should be great in aiding team success.
  17. Are they VHL Evil Empire?
  18. Both VHL and VHLM have plenty of postseason heroes already, but let's focus on the league I'm not going to be part for some time yet. A lot of players in VHL averaged over a point a game which is excellent: 1 Matt Thompson 9 22 2 Jack Shephard 9 21 3 Maxim Kovalchuk 9 18 4 Vyacheslav Smirnov 9 17 5 Keaton Louth 9 14 6 Mats Johnsson 9 14 7 Jasper Canmore 9 14 8 Gabriel McAllister 7 13 9 Niko Bogdanovic 9 13 10 The Charm 7 12 Especially top players - Matt Thompson for Seattle Bears and Jack Shephard playing for the same team taken the league by the storm. It would be really nice to join them in the future with such gaudy numbers. What is interesting that neither is a good passer and both were net negatives so far, as always there are two sides to each coin. What is really surprising to me is that we can observe two rookies following them. Maxim Kovalchuk and Vyacheslav Smirnov also play for Seattle Bears and joined the scoring spree. You won't see them in +/- category where the leader is Mats Johnsson of Calgary Wranglers. Among goalies the best one is Tristan Iseult from Quebec City Meute, leading them in Save Percentage and GAA, even recording Shutout. Other players that stand out among Quebec City Meute are two representatives leading the league in hits Sergei Komarov and Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette. Maxim Kovalchuk not only led rookies in scoring but also blocked a ton of shots - 43 so far.
  19. 1) So the VHLM Final series is here, Ottawa vs Halifax. Who do you think wins it? 2) Which player do you think will win the Playoff MVP award? 3) The VHL World Cup will take place this season, do you believe you can make it onto your country/continents respected roster? 4/5/6) For the last three questions, summarise your experience this season of the following: 4) Your VHLM team's General Manager 5) Your VHLM teammates 6) Your VHLM team's performance 1) Hard to say since I don't know the teams, but Ottawa had dominant showing so far so I'll go with them. 2) Lando Baxter he is amazing with 13 points so far 3) Not really, I'm probably on team world that should be stacked so new player isn't one to make a roster. 4) Trifecta for taking a chance on me 5) Didn't have the opportunity to play with anyone or even train yet, hopefully, it will change soon! 6) Oslo Storm put up a nice fight in the first round even though I wasn't quick enough to join it
  20. Part I - Pick em' (Pick the correct winners of all three games for 2 TPE) Game 3 - Calgary Wranglers @ Quebec Meute Game 4 - Calgary Wranglers @ Quebec Meute Game 5 - Quebec Meute @ Calgary Wranglers Part II - Predict the Score (Predict the correct score and winner of this game for 3 TPE) Game 4 - Calgary Wranglers @ Quebec Meute 2-4 Part III - Player Predictions (Predict the correct player for each category, 1 TPE for each correct answer) Series leader in points: Canmore Series leader in goals: Louth - of the Keaton variety Series leader in assists: Canmore
  21. 1) Since it's not been too long since you've joined the league, what are thoughts on the league so far as a whole? Looks really nice and I love VHL portal and updating this way. 2) Are there any areas in the league that you would like to see a change/improvement? Maybe a bit more personal engagement (which is also my fault to be honest, since my first player didn't really pan out, due to time limitations) 3) The VHLM Newsletter launched earlier this week, did you read it and was it helpful to you? It's amazing! Finally understood how the TPE cap differs and makes finding information about point tasks that much easier. 4) What are your aims this season in the VHLM? Well, the current season already ended for me before even already starting, so I'm looking towards the next one. Looking at S63 VHLM draft class being incredibly stacked I'm not after individual accolades but it would be really nice to get drafted to an active team and climb through the defensive pairing ranks. 5) With the teams starting to take shape, who do you consider to be the favourite for the VHLM Founders Cup? That's a hard question, I'm yet to take a closer look at each one of them. I'll keep cheering for Oslo next season after they took an interest in me. This year Halifax 21st looks powerful. 6a) Is there any player on your VHL team that you're particularly looking forward to playing with when you make the VHL? (For players who were also in the VHL Draft) Not yet, I need to know more about their playstyle and first and foremost get drafted! 6b) What do you think of your current VHLM team? (If you were selected in the VHLM Draft) I'm grateful Oslo took an effort to sign me for the last few days of the season. 6c) If a GM were to make you an offer, what kind of player would they be getting? (If you're currently unaffiliated). Active team to help with the first steps of my career, optimally with some decent playing time and opportunity to grow.
