S71 Helsinki Captaincy Reveal Over the course of the weekend the Helsinki Titans organization held a player vote for team Captaincy. I was a close race out of the gate and it ended the same way with just a single vote between the names who will ultimately wear a letter. The assistant captains for season 71 are Erik Summers @Erik Summers and his defensive partner Guillaume Fonetenette @okochastar. The duo played the entirety of S70 together combining for 25 goals, 83 assists and a +37 rating. Fontenette led the VHL with 145 blocked shots. Erik Summers was the successful candidate for S71 Rookie of The Year and does not look to slow down at any point in his career. Both have a strong presence in the locker room and are very deserving of wearing an A. The captain of the Titans this season is none other than top line center Ben Hafkey @McLovin. Hafkey was the recipient of the Dustin Funk trophy last season becoming a point per game player with 36 goals and 47 assists (73 points) smashing his prior career high by 39 points. His player agent is also the Assistant GM of the Titans. Hafkey will look to lead in Borwinn's absence this season and carry the Titans to an eighth consecutive playoff berth.

The Minnesota Storm are re-tooled and ready to chase down a repeat Founders Cup in season 71. 13th overall selection (round 2 pick 1) Valtteri Vaakanainen is ready to put his name on the map before he inevitably joins the Helsinki Titans in season 72. Vaakanainen will be a staple in the Storm's top six and barring some unforeseen disaster should put up strong numbers. Minnesota topped this past regular season with a 61-8-3 record led offensively by Gabriel Gutzwiler who put up an impressive 137 points and +75 rating. Minnesota went into the playoffs as the favourite and lost just two of 14 games en route to capturing the Founders Cup. The Storm had three first round picks this past draft and brought in starting goalie Woody Mcpine, defender Latrell Mitchell and left winger Robin Winter. Expectations are high again in Minnesota and all signs point to them being a top contender once again.

This article leaves out the fact that Helsinki is drafting their GM player in the next draft. We require any first to do so. We got a roster player + a first for a first. Where that first lands has no impact on who Helsinki it drafting.

--> Titans Off-Season Presser 1 <-- Answer 3 for 1 TPE, 6 for 2 TPE! 1. What have you been working on to improve this off-season? 2. Did you attend the VHL draft? Are you pleased with the Titans haul? 3. We recently acquired Cody Smith via trade. What do you see him bringing to the lineup? 4. We recently acquired Tony Balonee via trade. What do you see him bringing to the lineup? 5. We have 4 call-ups from prior drafts (Daldo, Spaz, Tarantino, Andersen). Who do you think makes the biggest impact out of the gate. 6. We drafted Jim Bob at #6 this weekend. Does he follow in Summers footsteps for rookie of the year? How many points do you think he earns? @Jbeezy76 @McLovin @Wheaties @jRuutu @Spaz @Harpskii @Garrett @okochastar @Erik Summers @cody73 @Tbeez99 @Cusemode @MMFLEX @Gscx420 @quanack @Caboose30 @ng1291 @Bob Helminen @DrHexDex @Julian Dalvao

After having a busy draft day last season, the Titans owned just three picks this time around. Round 1 A strong crop in the first round landed the Titans Jim Bob @jRuutu who will immediately play a role in the clubs top six. Jim Bob had an impressive S70 with Ottawa in the VHLM scoring 16 goals and 76 assists; good for 92 points and a whopping +61 rating. Jim Bob also brings a big physical presence to help replace that of Julian Borwinn. The 6 foot 4, 231 pound winger landed 423 hits through 99 minor league matches. Jim Bob will likely see time on both the first and second line as the club experiments to find line chemistries early on in the season. Round 2 With the 14th selection the Titans went after a local player to hopefully one day be a fan favourite. The Finland native Bob Helminen @Bob Helminen played wing for a struggling Halifax team that won just 20 games in S70. Despite this he scored just over a point a game on average with 38 goals and 36 assists. Helminen could very well be selected tomorrow night in the first round of the VHLM draft. He will be joined at the draft by first round hopeful and countryman Valtteri Vaakanainen. Round 4 The Titans then waited 25 more picks before their final selection. Not having another goalie in their system leaned the Titans to select Hex Valentine @DrHexDex. He was also a member of Halifax in S70 and played in all 72 contests for them. Valentine's progression has stunted as of late but the Titans hold hope that he will get back on track soon. Valentine remains under Halifax's ownership for the time being.

Team Canada Roster - S70 World Cup After being away from Canada for a few seasons it feels great to be back as GM. The parity has certainly become more apparent and we should have a tight race from day one. For several of these names it will be their last chance to represent their country. Congrats to those chosen to represent Canada at the S70 World Cup! @Bushito @Steve @oilmandan @Banackock @Jubis @Tate @HulkHogan @Beaviss @MexicanCow123 @Rayzor_7 @BladeMaiden
