After spending his debut VHLM season with the Halifax 21st, centreman Tommy Shelby was drafted 12th Overall to the Bratislava Watchmen in the VHLE draft. Pleased to at least be back on his home continent, there wasn't much of an adjustment with the physical move. On the ice, the adjustment to a league with a lot more experience has been more pronounced as Shelby has, at times, struggled to make an impact. But over the course of the season he has seemed to have gained some skills and confidence that have helped him become a reliable 2nd line center for the Watchmen. Shortly after the VHLE draft, Shelby was asked about his goals for the upcoming season and what he was going to focus on to both make a name for himself and prove the wisdom of New York Americans GM Vince Wong @STZ, who surprised observers when he selected Shelby in the 1st round at the VHL Entry Draft. Shelby answered that he mainly wanted to work on his shooting and defensive skills, and that he wanted to have more a presence on the ice. So how has it worked out? Well, Shelby has certainly developed through his time in Europe thus far, but there is lots of room for improvement as he makes his way to the VHL. On shooting in particular, one of the things Shelby wanted to focus on, things have not been going great. With only 8 goals in the regular season, Shelby finishes the season with one of the worst shooting percentages in the league - an abysmal 3.72%. And on defense, Shelby only recorded 13 shots blocked and 115 hits. Not much to write home about. But there are some silver linings. Shelby did continue to hone the playmaking and passing skills that he first demonstrated in the VHLM, and he carved out a place as a key member of the Watchmen powerplay where he earned over 40% of his overall points. And now as playoffs are set to begin, we have been seeing the best Shelby that we've seen to date as he seems to be finding his stride and some of his training efforts have begun to bear fruit. In a brief interview after the Watchmen's last regular season game, Shelby said he was planning some aggressive training ahead of playoffs. We'll see if it pays off for the Watchmen as they compete for the Renaissance Cup. Moving forward, as long as Shelby continues putting in the work, we see him heading back to the States next year and making his big league debut at Madison Square Garden.

Tommy Shelby +10

Hmm...I can't disagree

The incentive and such is not my department but I think the flags are pretty good idea. I'm not 100% on the Bot notifications just because a) I've always tried to avoid things that would require something running in the background (i.e. to periodically check active status) and b) I think getting a message from a GM when they notice someone going Yellow would be more impactful. But the flags would be handy and could be displayed in the team management area as well to help the GM monitor the activity of their team.

I don't like the idea but putting it behind a paywall, and I feel like most high profile people probably donate anyways But if there was a real concern about mobility, I don't think it would be crazy to change NTC's so that people would pick up to X number of teams that they can't be traded to. Probably makes more sense than a blanket NTC in the VHL where team needs can change so fast.

Tommy Shelby - Prospect Report Since coming on the scene last season, making his debut with the Halifax 21st in the VHLM, Tommy Shelby has to some extent has flown under the radar. He put up 55 points in his first VHLM season and overall his performance was nothing to write home about but he did carve out a position of a reliable 2nd line centerman. Shelby was a late-comer to his VHLM draft, and there wasn't a whole lot of scouting data available at the time. After his season with Halifax, we have a much better idea of the type of player Shelby is and what is potential is in the future. Name: Tommy Shelby Age: 22 Position: C Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 lb Pros: One thing that has become apparent is that Shelby is a strategic team player often inclined to pass the puck than take the shot. He has strong offensive vision and truly excels when his team is putting the pressure on and has the opposing team locked down in the offensive zone. This was evidenced by his leading of Halifax in powerplay assists. It is as if his stick handling and passing abilities combine to create a set-up machine. The second trait that is hard to miss is that Shelby is an excellent skater. Quick on his feet and agile, Shelby is hard to catch when he gets going. A bit of a surprise was Shelby's willingness to use the body, for a guy on the leaner side he put up some solid hits. Cons: Of course we have also had a chance to see his flaws. On the defensive side, there is much to be desired with Shelby not doing much in the way of shots blocked and when the play moves back to his end, he simply lacks the presence that he has in the offensive zone and becomes just another body. This will certainly be an important area of focus for Shelby if he wishes to ascend to the VHL. He'll also want to work on his scoring, although we noted his passing proficiency and teamwork as a positive, there is also times where it would have made sense to take the shot. Perhaps there is some reservations or lack of confidence with his own shooting, which is relatively weak in both his wrist and slap shots. And as a centreman, he will also want to focus on improving his faceoffs which wasn't overly impressive in his rookie season.

I gotta say that is not at all what I would have pictured you driving

Yeah I didn’t see the OP suggestion till’ now. I think both are good ideas and easy enough to implement. I’ll add them to my list!

highly recommend adding glass coverage if you don't have it; I know 3 people with Bronco's (including me) and all 3 of us had to replace the windshield which is like $1500 CAD. Just from flying rocks on the highway. Very common from what I see online. The almost flat windshield doesn't handle debris well, seems like it's more of a when than an if.
-
siiick, love the blue. Don’t think that was an option in 22. I’m Oxford White. have you been blessed with a cracked windshield yet?

Nice I'm soft top too, what trim? Mine's just Big Bend. My old man has a manual 2 door Badlands w/ hard top, much cooler than mine I don't have any complaints about it really but I had a truck before it and didn't think I'd miss having a truck bed too much.

I have a 22’ Bronco 4 door Great ride but…I do regret trading the 2016 Tacoma that I had before. Currently considering trading for a 2024 Tacoma stick shift. I put down a refundable deposit so have until July when it comes in to decide if I want to do it or not.

Tommy Shelby Age: 22 Position: C Height: 6' 0" Weight: 190lbs Born in Birmingham, Halifax 21st centreman Tommy Shelby's life did not follow the 'typical' path of a VHLM player. In fact, he only started playing a few short years ago when he was 18. Prior to that, he had a difficult childhood and led a rather tumultuous life that is worthy of a novel or a TV series. With his father passing away at a young age, Shelby's family consisted of his mother, two brothers, and a close aunt. The family was not well off, and although his mother worked various part time jobs, they always seemed to be just scraping by. As the boys got older, the family's plight led them to developing an entrepreneurial mindset and they spent their days trying to make some extra money anyway that they could. In the beginning it was normal kid stuff like selling lemonade on the streets but over time their business practices got a little more sketchy and they began to run various hustles like stealing and reselling goods and loansharking small amounts to other kids. Their drive paid off and in addition to making a name for themselves in the local community, the money they were bringing in was making a big difference in their homelife and had lifted the family out of poverty. On account of this, their mother fully embraced her sons growing business. As these things go, their lines of business continued to expand and the amount of risk they were willing to take on continued to increase. By the time Tommy was 16, the brothers were running gambling rings and engaged in the drug trade. And through a connection with a local liquor store, they were purchasing massive quantities of alcohol an reselling it at massive markups to their underage peers. The trio had long stopped attending school at this point and were generally consumed with conducting their business and bringing in cash. Although they didn't have much time for sport, the boys would, on occasion, pull the net out of the garage and play some street hockey. When they were kids this always their go to sport when the sun was shining and although they played less as they got older, they never completely abandoned it and tended to retreat back to it when they were having a tough time with the business. Unfortunately for the brothers, the success andd profit that they had come to enjoy didn't last very long. The fact is, this isn't 1920 and these types of things don't stay secret for long in the age of cameras everywhere. In the face of insurmountable evidence against them, all 3 brothers reached plea agreements with prosecutors. The agreements called for siezure of all proceeds of their crimes, a short stint in juvenie detention and lengthy community service. In detention, the brothers once again retreated to their old past time and Tommy started a street hockey league in the yard. The league was a huge success and the winning team (which was the Shelby team) even had a match against a team of guards. When Tommy was released, he was just shy of his 18th birthday and he knew that he had a choice to make. He could revert to his old habits, make some good money for awhile but he knew that eventually he would be caught and this time he wouldn't be considered a kid. Or he could find a legal way to have the life he wanted. As part of his community service, Shelby began volunteering at the local rink and it was here that he noticed an advertisement for tryouts for a local U18 team. Despite most of hockey experience being on the street with a ball, Shelby didn't hesitate to sign up and began devoting his time to hockey. He convinced the rink manager to let him use the ice overnight and would spend hours and hours practicing. Tryout day came and, perhaps partly due to his training and partly due to low turnout, he made the team. He was no superstar when he started that season but he continued to work at it relentlessly and he would later credit his coaches and teammates from that obscure team as teaching to him to be the player he is today. By the end of the season, Tommy was the best player on the ice, every game. One of Shelby's coaches was so impressed with his progress that he set up a tryout for Shelby with a professional team the following season. It came as no surprise to the coach when Shelby made it. And it was shortly after this that Shelby's new coach introuced him to a personal friend of his - former VHL player, commissioner, and agent Don Draper. Draper had been retired and this meeting was simply meant to be an opporunity for Shelby to get some career advice. By the end of the meeting, Shelby had convinced Draper to be his agent and get him on the fast track to the VHLM. And now, partway through his first VHLM season, Shelby has his sights set on the VHL Entry Draft.

that makes 3 of us. Actually I had already finished, my high school had a system where if you chose the right classes you could have all the credits you need to graduate after first semester of your final year. So I was just fucking off until university the next year… ah simpler times I would have just joined VHL in early March…opps I missed my 10 year anniversary

Yeah I think as @Spartan said this is kind of already baked into FA although could look at adding a last update column to the list in FA. I think that would be better than including it on the main list here. I wouldn't be opposed to an Inactive flag on the main list though (similar to the 1st gen flag).
