James Platts Welfare Program, VHL Pension Plan and VHL Partnership Plan Claiming Instructions James Platts Welfare Program and VHL Pension - Claim through the automated "Claim Welfare" button on VHL Portal. VHL Partnership Plan - Claim through the "Claim Capped" button on VHL Portal, selecting "Affiliate PT" as the type and linking to a point task done in a partnered league. Eligibility requirements James Platts Welfare Program - All members All members will be eligible for the James Platts Welfare plan. The James Platts Welfare Plan allows members to claim 4 TPE/week on those weeks they do not do point tasks. They must claim during the point task week otherwise they are not eligible. Members who claim welfare will be allowed to do Fan 590s/VHL.coms and may claim job pay. VHL Pension Plan - Members who have had 2 or more players with 700+ TPE Members who have previously had two or more 700+ TPE players will be eligible for the VHL Pension Plan. The VHL Pension Plan allows members to claim 5 TPE/week on those weeks they do not do point tasks. They must claim during the point task week, otherwise they will not be eligible. Members who claim pension will be allowed to do Fan 590s/VHL.coms and may claim job pay. Note: Some older, returning members may find that the Portal only offers them 4 TPE - this can occur if one or more of your older players is not linked to you on the Portal or does not exist on the Portal. If this is the case, please contact an admin or commissioner and we will manually approve you for the VHL Pension Plan. VHL Partnership Plan - Members who do a PT in an approved partner league Members who do a PT in an partnered league (the SBA or EFL) will be eligible for the VHL Partnership Plan. The VHL Partnership Plan allows members to claim 6 TPE/week on those weeks they do not do point tasks so long as they link to a point task done in a partnered league for that week. Members who claim pension will be allowed to do Fan 590s/VHL.coms and may claim job pay.

Hello, This announcement is to let you know that there may be some downtime of the VHL Forum and VHL Portal tomorrow, May 16th, as I perform essential server maintenance. My hope is that it will be isolated to the early morning but I will update on Discord if there are delays. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding

addition to team management in portal
Will replied to Motzaburger's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
We could actually probably do it by last post using the Forum API if that is preferred to last update, whatever you want -
I'm looking into this atm but its most likely that I won't be able to get it fully restored until tomorrow evening. I am going to have to restore a backup, however I should be able get away with only restoring a partial backup of the finance tables as I did once before - that means people should be OK to continue updating without fear of data loss. But obviously GMs should not do any team management stuff in the meantime as it will be lost.

Was Portal Practice Facility a Mistake?
Will replied to Gustav's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
It's an interesting idea... I think rather than 6, I would maybe go for requiring literally any other TPE to be earned that week, perhaps with the exception of a welfare claim. That said, might be a little difficult to implement in practice..the non-practice facility TPE would still have to be approved before they claim PF and that could cause some timing issues. -
Was Portal Practice Facility a Mistake?
Will replied to Gustav's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
I do think we really ought to work on getting more information onto the Portal in terms of 'guides', the rulebook, staff list, etc - and directing people to that info when they create a player. I think it could be a far better and more manageable host of that type of stuff than the current setup (basically a bunch of scattered forum threads). Now I don't know how much that will help with what is described in OP, but I would say that my rationale for putting it through the portal was much less about the added convenience for players and more about getting one of the most standard and frequently claimed TPE activities out of the update queue. -
The power dynamic is certainly interesting because there is 0 documentation of what it should be - it basically relies on the good faith of the admins and changes quite a bit depending on the admins of the day. It was intentionally named the Board of Governors and not the Board of Directors to keep final decision power with the admins but, at least in more recent times, it seems like its become pretty common for the admins to let the majority in the BOG make the final decision on certain matters.

Ehhh I'll take it. But he's not taking my username when he joins VHL!

That's mysterious. What happens when you go here: https://vhlportal.com/players/playermgmt

I've linked Dawson to @Kendrick Also re-assigned Jesse Wilson to Kendrick so that his player page lists that account instead of this one

Yup, normally if you go to the TPE Tool, you can search for your player and 'import' them, which will populate the tool with your attributes. But I need to reset the search function as it isn't working right now but it's an easy fix and I'll do it today. You could type your attributes manually in the left-hand column in the meantime. From there, you can just change any stats you want in the 'current value' column and it'll tell you how much total TPA you would need to make that build. You can just ignore the other two columns if using the tool as a build planning tool instead of a depreciation tool.

Nope, 1 by 1 - I didn't figure out auto-creation until it was on the Portal.

Wow thanks for the shout! It's funny to think back to the very early days where we had lots of automation ideas that I didn't think were really going to be realistic given my limited coding skills. When I started working on the Portal I had 1 Intro to Programming class that I had taken in first year university and 0 web development experience. I just took it one project at a time and learned a heck of a lot over time, and I still am. It's obviously made much easier by the fact that I enjoy it and view it as a hobby but it goes to show that anyone can learn to code if you put some time into it.

Yes. Player names in particular do indeed have a alphanumeric validator on them.

He likely hadn't accepted the offer yet when you tried, if he isn't actually on a team he won't appear in the ratings update. He has accepted now, I just downloaded the ratings and he's in there. Derek Charmander from the other thread, looks like he has his name changed: https://vhlportal.com/players/playerfocus/2328 He's also in the update now

Sorry for the late reply. It's kind of tricky because the Portal has no way of knowing when the pre-season retirement starts. So I elected to just full-retire anyone that retires during off-season and leave it to admins to manually fix anyone that retires after the deadline. I should probably add a line to the retirement screen telling people to message an admin if it's after the pre-season deadline, though.
