As a goaltender, I decided to do a little preview of what my path to the league will be. I thought others may find this interesting to see where they may be falling. I hope everyone enjoys. Helsinki Titans Helsinki has (S63) Goaltender Alexander Pepper between the pipes. This guy was picked with the 10th overall pick in the Second Round by the Titans. Pepper currently has 301 TPE and is currently active. This will likely make a goaltender something that the Titans will look away from drafting. They are set between the pipes as Pepper looks to be a fantastic pick and future goaltender for the team. Toronto Legion Toronto has 2 goaltenders on their roster currently in Johnny Havenk Carison and Shawn Brodeur. Brodeur is going to be the stop gap while Carison gets ready to man the pipes in Toronto. Currently, Brodeur has 674 TPE, but has not updated since the beginning of September while Carison has 284 TPE and did update this week. This will make the Legion likely not to pick a goaltender unless they have some doubt that Carison will stay active. Being picked with the 3rd overall pick in the S62 Draft, it is very unlikely that Carison will go inactive. I do not see a goaltender being taken here either. HC Davos Dynamo The Dynamo only have 1 goaltender currently on their roster, that is S61 Goaltender Arvid Aamo. This guy currently has 189 TPE while not updating in some time. Considering that he is their starter, this team is going to need a goalie. They may be licking their chops with the likes of Brick Wahl or Finn Davison among other goalies that will be in this draft. Is that their first need? We shall see, but this is a real shot to be a team needing a goaltender and needing one pretty fast. Quebec City Meute Quebec City has the likes of S60 Goaltender Tristan Iseult in net. They probably will not be looking to make a move for a goaltender. He updated this week as well. When you have a guy such as him, obviously, you do not move on from that. Maybe you could start looking for a future goaltender, but I doubt that this will even be an option for them. Like Helsinki and Toronto, Quebec joins the league of teams not needing a goalie. Riga Reign Riga is another team that will likely be happy where they are with their goaltender. People have compared Finn Davison to Kallis Kriketers, the goalie for this team. He was another goaltender that played for Ottawa. This guy has 379 TPE, so obviously they will not be looking to go elsewhere. Yes, I am aware he is the GM, so obviously they will not need a goalie. Calgary Wranglers I find the Wranglers in such an interesting spot for a goaltender. They took Matt Aloisi in the S62 Draft but really did not turn out to be anything at all. They currently have a stud goaltender that is in his 7th season, is this time that they'd look for a goalie to come in and be the successor to Norris Stopko? Stopko has been a 2.42 GAA all-time goaltender having one of his worst seasons yet this season. Obviously, he is only 4 games in, but it may be time to look for someone to take over? A guy that is off winning the Aidan Shaw Trophy, it is hard to say anything more about this guy. What shoes that the next goalie will have to fill, it will not be easy. They may look to take a goalie, but I have no idea. Seattle Bears Another team that likely will not be taking a goaltender with S61 Goalie, Roger Sterling between the pipes. He has 557 TPE, so obviously nothing imminent for the Bears. They could look for a backup, or someone to come in later, but they have plenty of time to wait for that, Seattle will not go for a goalie, because why would they? New York Americans New York has a goalie that is the GM of the team, I was going to go into more depth, but why would I? We all know that goalies are not going here.

1. I did sign with the Ottawa Lynx. Oslo did make a push to sign me, but I really wanted those starter minutes to improve. It is hard to know what you are doing wrong if you do not step on the ice. I would love to prove all of the other teams wrong, without question. 2. I am form the UK, so of course I am drinking beer, a lot of beer. Just do not tell my General Managers, that can be our little secret. 3. I mean, I like to be my own guy, but I am a huge fan of Tuukka Rask, but the good Rask. Not the one that chokes all the time, the better version of him. I really like his style of play being aggressive while also being in the butterfly. 4. It is working out, I very much love it. My goal is to be the #1 goalie of my draft class, I am on my way to that goal, I will not stop until I am there. 5. I do, yes. I did tear my ACL, so that definitely cut into those plans, but I do play. Thank you for those! I will answer 2 more next week! Keep them coming.

1. I do not think there really is any pressure. I am not really too well-known, so I think I will be looked at as someone that is very new. I think that has its ups and it's downs. I will likely be taken as a guy that is a new create which is perfectly fine with me. I am happy to be looked at as so. 2. Ottawa is great. All of the guys have been awesome, I really cannot complain with it at all. I am excited to get my pads and helmet in and get going. It has been a long ride from the UK to Ottawa, so I am excited just to get there. 3. There is a lot of learning that I still need to do. I would love to be known as successful, but I would hate to compare myself to him. He had a great season, if I can be put on the same pedestal as he was, I consider that to be a success. There is a lot I need to do and learn to be like that, I expect to share ice time right now, but I hope to be the starter by the end of the season. 4. Honestly, I am open to any team. I am going to be someone that is about the team, so I want someone that needs me or wants to have me on their team. I will do what was the best for the team is. When I get settled into Ottawa, I will have a chance to look more into those teams, right now, I am open to any team that needs me. 5. Haterade stepped to the plate and did sign me. I am super excited to be on board with those chaps, I can't wait to get working and moving for their brand.

I would be interested in this as well. I am always going around the forum and this would be a great way to get familiar with the VHLM and VHL.

PLAYER PROFILE Player Name: Finn Davison Age: 18 Position: G Height: 75 in. Weight: 176 lbs. Birthplace: London, England Team: Ottawa Lynx (VHLM) Finn Davison is a goaltender in the Season 64 Draft signed to the Ottawa Lynx on a 1 year contract. He is a UK National who came to the VHL after playing some soccer during his childhood. STRENGTHS Hand Speed: When you look at this guy, you have to be concerned when trying to shoot glove side. His hand speed is going to be one of the strengths of his game. He may have some spots to shoot, but when you look at trying to score on a guy that is only 6'3", you will likely try to shoot high. If you want to test his glove hand, you certainly could, but I would absolutely suggest not. He is weak in other places that I will go into later, but hand speed is something that he is very good at. Some people have even called him the cat. Rebound Control: Another part of his game that pretty much goes with having great hand speed is the fact that you can control your rebounds. He is not the biggest guy in the world, so keeping the shooter to only 1 shot rather than multiple with others around him is going to be key to his success. He is someone that has worked on that and thus worked on his Hand Speed when those pucks would typically go right back out front. He has also worked on his blocker and being able to direct those pucks to the corner rather than the middle of the attacking zone. Team Player: Not exactly something that you can look at him and say, but he is someone that does what he can for the team. I think Ottawa will see this right off the bat with the fact that he will be sharing time with JB Rift who is someone that has been vying for that opening night position. He is willing to do what it takes to get better and make the team better. If that means coming off the bench, that is absolutely something he is willing to do. He will not be someone that will be in for the money, but he certainly knows his limitations and will look to others to help him. It is a guy you want in the locker room for your team without question. WEAKNESSES Agility: It is so weird to put this as a weakness when one of his strengths is reaction time, but he is someone that struggles a little bit with his agility. He has a hard time switching directions and sometimes going post to post on shots such as wrap-a-rounds. Because he exerts so much energy to get from post to post to compensate for his lack of agility, he will get tired easy. There is a question of his endurance which is great for having that second goaltender. When you think about it, he is someone you want in net, but do not overwork him, that will not end well. Puck Control: Do not trust him with the puck outside of the crease, if he comes out, please just tell him to back in his net. He causes more issues than creating things with the amount of mistakes he makes outside of the crease. This could be something that will come with time or experience, but right now, that is an extreme limitation to his game. He will absolutely have to improve on this to be someone to consider even fielding the puck outside of the blue area. Naive: This guy is someone that you will like in the locker room, but remember, he is 18 years old. He will still do dumb things. He probably will need someone that is a little more of a veteran to keep him in line and make sure that he stays on the straight and narrow. I am not sure if this is a very bad weakness, but it is something that will come with experience. If you are expecting a leader right off the bat, this is not him. He is stubborn and cocky as well as confident. Of course, how can you be a team player but cocky? When it comes to his skills, he knows that he can be great and that gets in his head. I would definitely say that he gets in his head more than he gets in other's heads. That is a very big concern, but something that will wear off in time.

London, England:: UK Goaltender Finn Davison has signed a 1 year contract with the Ottawa Lynx. He had a couple other offers, but he thought that Ottawa was the best fit for him and the success of him. He will likely split time with another S64 Draftee in JB Rift, but that is not something that he really minds at all. Davison knows that he has the ability to become the starter, so he is excited to be moving to Ottawa to start a new life there. When we caught up with Davison, this is what he had to say. Davison will be getting on the plane and getting all his stuff moved to Ottawa later in the week. He will get out with his teammates as he prepares for training camp as well as the start of the season. He is excited, so look out, Finn Davison is on his way to the VHLM.

1) The VHLM Draft has now concluded, which team do you believe had the best draft? I really like what Ottawa did with their lineup. They added a legit scoring threat in Mark Gebauer to go with a top passing center in Chance Matthews. On defense, they stuck with getting both offensive and defensive players to balance out the line. 2) Of the players that were selected, who do you think has the potential to be the biggest surprise? I really like what Mark Gebauer has to offer. This guy is a legit skater with scoring ability. I think he could be a huge surprise for Ottawa in a great way. 3) With the VHLM rosters starting to take shape heading into the start of the season, who do you think will be the best team this season (You can view the teams HERE) Obviously, Ottawa will be the best team, I have no doubt at that. I think they are building such a great team, so I have no doubt that they will be the best. 4) What are your thoughts on your new General Manager (If you also have a VHL team, you can use this to talk about your VHL GM) I really enjoyed the contract negotiation process. I thought that all of the teams were fair and honest in their negotiations. I look forward to working with my GM a lot more now that the process is done. 5) How did you find out about the VHL? They are affiliates with other leagues. 6) If there was one thing in particular you would like explaining about how the VHL works, what would it be? I think everything is clearly laid out, I am not sure I have anything else needed.

UK Goaltender, Finn Davison has stepped to the podium to answer any and all questions in which may come up. I will entertain any questions. He currently is unsigned and is in the middle of negotiation with a couple VHLM teams. Ask away.

Goaltender Finn Davison made his way to the Victory Hockey league out of his native United Kingdom. This goalie is 6'3", 176 pounds. With the amount of goalies in this draft, it is going to be hard to find a starting role for any squad in the VHL Minor Leagues. He is someone that has been working on a few attributes to be better and better. He may be someone that goes very much under the radar, but that is exactly what he is looking for. When we caught up with Davison, this is what he had to say.
