  1. 1) This is the season Groovy hits the 50 goal mark, I can feel it. 2) Really good, got some free agent additions(some new, some old) and our draft went fine! 3) Hell to the yes. 4) Absolutely, nobody has seen what Ove can do yet. 5) Need to become more consistent, no more of those "1-1 DC" sims 6) Prepare the yeetus!
  2. 1) Our Powerplay really let us down, gotta work on that harder for the next season 2) Groovy, such a fun guy to be around, motivated to perform on the ice and helping everyone off the ice. 3) I think they're doing everything fine, we have our plan and we're going for it. 4) No idea, havent looked at draft rankings yet, but I trust my GM and his vision. 5) Work hard and get better to help D.C take that extra step next season. 6) Dyrdahl really loves pizza.
  3. Not the ending I was hoping for, but I am proud of everyone on the dragons this past season, we defied expectations and almost won the entire thing, huge props to @FrostBeard and the entire Malmo organization, you guys battled hard and ultimately deserved this win. I am sure we will come back stronger than ever #GODRAFONS
  4. im in, I really like the sound of both tbh.
  5. Well Played to the entire Chicago Phoenix organization, you guys put up a great fight and that made for an awesome series to watch/follow. You guys are going in the right direction and led by the right people. on a more bias note..... LETS GO D.C DRAGONS BBYYYYYYYY!!!!
  6. We caught up with Ove Dyrdahl before game 4 against Chicago, here's what we chatted about: First of all, hello! We appreciate you taking your time to talk to, I'm sure the D.C fans are excited to finally get to know you a little bit more! "Hey, and yeah... this season has been a big rollercoaster but right now we are on the upswing and I'm happy about it, so it felt like the perfect time to properly talk to the press" Lets start with your decision to further your career overseas, surely you had an offer to stay home and play hockey there? "That's a good question and to be honest, I didn't even reach out to see if my team wanted to extend me, whenever my dad talked about how he used to play hockey and how great everything here at home is, I always wondered what the hockey overseas was, because we didn't watch much TV nor did we follow their leagues that much, so we basically had a no idea how anything worked here, some said the hockey here is much easier, some said its brutal and I wanted to experience it myself, and I am glad I did" So how would you describe the league then? Is it really brutal or was it much easier than you thought? "I'd say neither, it's a professional league where everyone wants to prove themselves, if you get lazy you can get replaced easily, so there's that added pressure, I like it, personally, I like when I have to work hard to impress my coach just so he has more reasons to include me in the next lineup, if he doesn't.... well, then I just make him regret his choice" Interesting, lets move on to your draft, many expected you to go in the first round but you slid to the middle of the second, has it impacted your perception of you as a player? "The draft day was really hectic but really exciting at the same time, here's some sneak peak at what happened - when we got there couple of hours before the draft, everyone got their instructions with the whole "stand here, look there and smile, take your jersey put it on, take the cap, put it on, look there smile" type of deal, but when all of that was happening someone accidentally bumped into me and spilled their coffee on my suit, so we had to rush and get a new one, and I still like to believe that it was destined that I landed in D.C because just when I got back in time they made their selection and picked me. That's almost like a comedy skit, must have been hilarious and stressful at the same time, no? "The boys and I laughed it off yeah, but I'd be lying if I told you I didn't get anxious when it happened" What's your impression of D.C? "I really like it here, the fans are passionate, my teammates are all supportive and really talented, our stadium is one of the best, it's always jam-packed on gamedays and it's really futuristic and has lots of fun things you can do before/after the games" It seems like we have run out of time this time, thanks for joining us and good luck in the playoffs, Ove! "Thanks for having me!"
  7. Ove was widely considered as a "safe" 1st round pick, a high floor but an unknown ceiling type player, who was ready to come up to VHL instantly. On draft day there was a rumor going around that not many GM's actually fancied Dyrdahl in the first round and some not even in the second. The draft started and the first round flew past really fast and Dyrdahl was nowhere to be seen, which made some of the norwegian fans worried.... Did he do something bad before his draft day? Did the league discover something that they didn't like about him? The 2nd round started and Dyrdahl was still not on the board, All of this meant that so many rumors/questions were thrown around by the fans and media...... at least until the 25th pick of the draft when D.C Dragons with their 1st selection of the draft selected the young norwegian defenceman. After the draft ended one of the leagues GM's was approached and he commented on this situation: "Yeah he [Ove] was on our boards, but not until the 3rd round, he is a big defenceman but.... that's about it, he looks lazy out there on the ice and sometimes he hurts his team more than he helps them, a "big risk player' is what I'd call him" All of this made his VHL debut even more interesting, especially for D.C fans, who didn't think they'd be getting Ove if you asked them before the draft.... And to everyone's surprise he looked like a completely different player, though still throwing big hits, taking "stupid" penalties, but now he was more of a refined player. All of this was achieved only because of the Dragon's coaching staff, with all their guidance they took all the raw skill Ove had and helped him better his game, in 72GP he got to 26 points, was a +30 and had 235 hits with 203PIM, so he still was who he was - a norwegian giant who loved to throw hits and fight, but now he was more of a teamplayer and a fan favorite among D.C Dragon fans. One for the future: Many Dragon's fans have noticed that maybe Ove has more of an offensive upside than people thought, he had 5 goals with only 49 shots taken, 2 of which came from the powerplay, he has an absolute rocket of a slapshot but right now he just doesn't utilize it that well, but if we know something it's that D.C's coaching staff can sure turn a player around, and everyone is silently hoping that they help Ove transition more to a two-way defenceman role.
  8. 1) Unfortunately, we didn't.... but we're coming back stronger tomorrow. 2) Wolski carrying us last couple of games, inspires everyone on and off the ice 3) Finally enjoying playoffs, haven't really gotten them that much before, feels awesome. 4) Chicken with rice all the way. 5) Ove loves listening to local norwegian folk music before the games, it energizes him and reminds him where he came from. 6) Mosty chilling, luckily it hasn't affected me or anyone around me that much.
  9. HUGE GAME 3 COMEBACK FOR THE BOYS, GO DC
  10. GG's Vancouver, really unfortunate with the re-sim, but it was an honor playing these 7 games vs you.
  11. 1) Had to trick simonT by mentioning certain keywords in our discord..... 2) Ove is really hyped for the playoffs, and he took the time to train even harder, because the road ahead doesn't get easier. 3) 4 - 1 D.C 4) Gotta wear them down, they are skilled but beatable, gotta frustrate them. 5) No, I'm ready to face everyone 6) Yeah, spent needed time with my family, hope enjoyed their holidays.
  12. dc dragons in playoffs
  13. 1) I've only ever been in 1 sim league and that is this one, I've looked at couple of others in the beginning but the automated updating system is what stood out for me, personally. 2) Yeah, never tried any other, might in the future but right now I have no interest 3) I've went through phases, in the beginning it was super easy, I'd check the site multiple times per day, then when I "burnt out" I was really inactive, maybe 1 time per day or not even that, nowadays I'm chilling and still visiting the site couple of times per day 4) C easy answer, gotta see what the analysts and league leaders are thinking about it, what a mad day that would be 5) Most of the time I'm on a desktop PC, sometimes when I wake up I check the sim results on my phone 6) D.C Dragons a Cup
  14. 1) Think we have to spy on our 2nd line guys and figure out what magic they're using, cuz they are playing unreal 2) Keep at it and we'll get there 3) I've been really impressed by our entire 2nd line, every one of them are working hard at it every day, and it really can be noticed on the ice 4) Groovy, my mans been playing insane this season 5) Arizona Coyotes, kachina 4 life 6) Doing fine, chilling mostly
