Hello there @Carl Swaglin and welcome to the VHL! I’m Jables, the AGM of the Houston Bulls.

As an AGM, I want to offer you a spot on a young but growing team! A 2nd-year team that shocked the VHLM with a deep playoff run in their first season of existence is now building for the future and needs young and promising players like you!

We will not be competing for a cup this season, but are primed to be successful for many seasons to come with the number of draft picks we possess. You can be a major piece to that puzzle and one of the team leaders for this young squad already by signing with Houston. 1st line minutes are available if you are active. If you want to be a part of the Houston Bulls and continue to shock the league for many seasons to come, be sure to quote my message and write "Accepted!"

No matter which team you decide to go for - welcome to the VHL and I hope you will have a great time here!

Jables, Assistant GM of the Houston Bulls

  2. Or you can maybe try to trade down to number two and stack up on an extra first round pick next season. Let the team behind you choose one of the two and you take the other. Not sure if they’d do that, but it’s worth a shot. They may favor one of the two.

  3. Got ya. Well yeah I still stand by that then. Those guys behind Lafreniere are top 10 picks, and with Perfetti’s production this season, won’t be surprised if he’s a top 5 by the time the 2020 draft rolls around. Kakko will get you quicker success I believe, as he’ll be more acclimated to playing against men. Hughes may take a couple months to get used to it but should be pretty damn good as well. Also watching the USA vs Finland matchup today... Kakko is realllll good.

And if you take Kakko and turns out to be the lesser of the two, then you can blame me. But they’ll both be good. Can’t go wrong with either. So I say Kakko.

  4. Hmm.. that’s tough. The center pool after Lafreniere is deep.. I know Cole Perfetti is a projected elite talent at center (unless it’s different in your sim league) and you could probably snag him if you miss on Lafreniere. Byfield as well. I’d maybe go Kakko. Put him on the other side of Veleno. The center’s are deep the following draft. May not snag a big time wing. I think the best are Holtz and Raymond? Could be wrong about that though.

We recently sat down at Paddy’s Pub in Philadelphia, PA with new Philadelphia Reapers Centerman, Rhys Chism, to discuss his experience and the early goings of Philadelphia’s season so far.

So Rhys, 10 games in and the Reapers are tied for first at 8-1-1. Must make you feel good, yeah?

Rhys: Absolutely. This team has been a complete dream to play for. All of the guys are clicking. We’re cooking with gas right now. I really can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ll accomplish the rest of the way.

With all of that being said, you did just lose your first game in regulation to San Diego. Thoughts?

Rhys: Every team has an off day. If we’re gonna lose a game or two here or there I’d rather it be after a long point streak like we went on to kick off the season. We lost early, so we can correct it early. I’m 100% confident in this group. Also, San Diego is a solid team. Can’t take anything away from them.

Now you recently had a change to your line, and it seems to be a perfect fit. You put up 11 points between the three of you in the first two games you were paired up. How has it been with Gabella playing on the line with you and Frostbeard?

Rhys: First thing’s first, Hafkey’s my boy. He’s definitely doing his part and playing like a true two way forward for sure. He’s gonna get there and start putting up points in no time. Now with Gabella being moved onto our line, instant chemistry. Things have completely opened up, and just the way the team is going, we’re a dangerous club for sure, but gotta keep building on it. Like you said though, 11 points between the three of us in two games is pretty damn good. I think that speaks for itself how it’s going.

How has @BladeMaiden been as a GM to this point?

Rhys: Blade has been great. She’s a players GM. Some people may not see it because they aren’t in our locker room, but she puts in the work, and has the players backs and best interests in mind for sure. She cares about us more than herself. I can’t say enough good things. I’ve lucked out having @Sonnet as a GM to really introduce me to this league and answer any question I had without hesitation my first season, just a good dude, and now Blade who’s been every bit as awesome. I’m definitely lucky. I loved it in Houston, and now I love it in Philly.

Definitely glad to hear that. Lastly, you said your individual season goal was to play at a point per game pace. 10 games in you’re sitting at 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points. Gotta be happy with your performance so far.

Rhys: I’ve been doing alright I guess. I feel great, and playing with the guys I do doesn’t hurt. But if I’m being honest with you.. I’m just scratching the surface. You haven’t seen anything yet. Championship or bust, and I’m working my ass off to help get this team there.

    Thank you, Rhys. Cheers.

    Rhys: No prob. Cheers.
