Wooo Eagles with another assist ?

Great game by the Marlins!
-
In last nights game vs the Saskatoon Wild, Greg Eagles registered his first ever point in his lifetime. As a goalie it is always hard to register points and throughout his career this has never happened. " I just threw it up to Clarkson off a rebound, he then launched a beautiful long pass to Tate who buried it into the net. Even though we lost I was still very excited for my first point!" Eagles said after the game. The team offered to give the puck to Greg as it was his first point ever but Greg rejected that idea and gave it to Lincoln Tate who scored his first ever goal. " He deserved it more, he worked hard to score that goal and it was his first ever. He has been working hard for our team and I thought he deserved it more, I only want the puck whenever I register my first shutout" Even though there was a lot of firsts in last nights game, The Marlins fell 5-4 in a very offensive game.

WHAT IS AFFECTING EAGLES? Hello weekly readers! Today we will focus on what could be affecting Greg Eagles play of late. I hope you enjoy this weeks article! Rough start by Eagles San Diego goaltender Greg Eagles is known for being a man of few words and many saves. He only needed three words to convey what was getting in the way of his ability to stop the puck in San Diego’s last game which they lost 5-4 “It’s all Mental.” Eagles was talking about his rough performance against the Saskatoon wild, a game that saw him let in four goals in a span of 8 minutes (2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the 1st period and 2 goals in the first 3 minutes of the second). The 18 year-old has seen a very uncharacteristic stat line in his career a 2.98 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage. From his earlier playing days he is used to being in the 1.25 – 1.50 G.AA range and a .925 save percentage range or higher. No one is doubting that Greg will rise back to his usual standards. We’ve seen him struggle and rise above it before in his junior career and really, it’s still early into the season in a brand new country on a smaller ice surface. But for now speculation is spreading far and wide as to what has been wrong with his play, so in a way it is refreshing to hear that Eagles admits to dealing with a few mental hurdles. “I don’t know it would’ve been very rare for a player to admit something like that instead of just i’ve got to work through it or the defense didn’t play well, and the usual cliches you hear from players every day. He understands his brain is getting in the way and when that happens, it’s really difficult to play the position of goalie.” Marlins Coach said after hearing Eagles comments. It was just a few weeks ago that Eagles stood on his head in a 22-save upset win against the Philadelphia Reapers, a win that saw the league take notice that the San Diego Marlins are here to play and to show that Eagles has what it takes to play in the VHLM. Eagles celebrating an upset win! That’s why it’s all the more jarring when he’s not at his best. He’s undoubtedly the main backstop of the team, which is so far exceeding expectations on what has been a surprising season so far. The Marlins sit 8th in the division, and would likely have a few more wins beside their name right now had they gotten a few more clutch saves from the man in net. “Being a goalie yeah you play hockey which is a team sport but you’re actually alone most of the game. You rarely have contact with your teammates. You make a good save, maybe they tap you on the pads, but that’s about it for the communication until the end of the period. It’s a very lonely and high-pressure position” said Eagles “It’s a tough job because you’re either the star or the reason why you lost. You’re never flying under the radar. You can’t be just OK every night, you always have to push yourself to play 110%.” We here at the Wroclaw Times hope that Eagles can get past these hurdles and play to his full potential. We will see how he rises to the occasion in the next few games.

San Diego Marlins Press Conference
Greg_Di replied to InstantRockstar's topic in Team Press Conferences
How pleased are you with your player's performance to begin this season? So far I have been very pleased. While it has been up and down for some games, there has definitely been more positives and Eagles will only get better with time. Heading into the next few games, what do the Marlins have to do to ensure victory? We definitely need to play some stronger D and I need to step up my game. We had a lot of close one goal games. Should @iRockstar be looking to switch up any of the lines? What would the benefits of doing so be? I don't think so, we have been doing pretty good for an expansion team. I just think everyone needs to keep capping out their TPE each week, which will help us all out as a team. Let's say you won an instant 20 TPE. Which attributes would you immediate put the 20 towards and why? 20 into RT, you have to get those primary stats up to 70 asap Is there anything the team as an organization could be doing differently to either improve your experience or promote your activity? Nope, I think everyone within the Marlins team is doing great. Experience has been great so far and everyone seems to be very active! What do you think of having Marlin as the Marlins mascot? Wouldn't be my first choice, we need something meaner so that teams would be intimidated playing in our arena -
Rough game but ill take my first point ever as a goalie

Hello weekly readers! Today we follow Greg Eagles and his first ever start plus his current stats. Eagles glancing up at the scoreboard During the game we noticed Greg Eagles glancing up at the scoreboard over center ice at the San Diego arena during his first ever start, and the big screen seemed to have caught his eyes. The goaltender watched a quik replay of a save he just made and received another reminder that he was no longer playing in the juniors. This was the big leagues where everyone was better, faster and stronger then he was used to. Eagles was finally making his VHLM debut for the San Diego Marlins after 18 years of working his way up to the VHLM. Eagles played well in his first ever game with the Marlins, making 29 saves in a 4-2 loss against the Halifax 21st. Eagles made several of the high-quality saves many became accustomed to seeing during his junior years. "It’s a little different, the speed and power of the players, as well as the different ice size but I got used to it right away," Eagles said. "They're definitely one of the better teams in the League, so it's good to get a chance to play our first game against them," Eagles continued saying. Eagles making his first save of the game Eagles had to wait longer than he hoped to make his first save. He finally got his chance at 1:23 of the first period on a shot by Van Lagen. "It was a little bit of a slow start for me because there weren't that many shots right away," Eagles said. "I thought we came out very strong, did well and I was kind of eager to get a little bit of action, but the guys did a really good job. Unfortunately 20 seconds later after the first shot Van Lagen beat me…it happens" He made nine more saves and let in two more goals in the opening period, with the Marlins being down 3-1. When the final whistle blew it was 4-2 for the 21st. "I thought I got better as the game went on," Eagles said. "I got more comfortable but they still managed to beat me 4 times." "I thought he was really sharp," the Marlins coach said. "He played a lot of the pucks behind the net. He made a lot of big saves at key times of the hockey game and he kept us in it, that’s all you can ask from your goalie." Eagles said there were some knots in his stomach before the game as this was his debut as well as San Diego’s first ever game. "I had a little bit of nerves before I went on the ice," Greg said of his debut. "I wanted to do well, show them what I could do and do well for my new team, my new coach." Overall we here at the Wroclaw Times think it was a great debut. We also followed Greg for the next 3 games and so far this season Greg sits at a 1-2-1 record with a .891 save percentage ( 5th in the league as of writing this article) and a 3.43 GAA (8th in the league). We believe he will be much better as the season goes on.

Insert Funny Pun Here - Acyd Burn Bio [2/2]
Greg_Di replied to Acydburn's topic in Archived Career Tasks
Review: Great Bio. Well formatted and pictures help flesh out the story. I would have maybe added one more picture in the teenage years section. Hopefully that early OHL injury doesn't affect Acyd too much well done! -
Review: I agree with Walter, the formatting seems to be off a bit (headings aren't centered but seems like the paragraphs are). Just made it a bit harder to read. The biography itself is good, lots of details and history on his life growing up.
