  5. Who says goalies can’t play all the games in a season? Starting goalies have been playing more games recently as the quality of backups have dwindled. Why can’t they play all the games? Greg Eagles, for one, believes goalies can play every game, but coaches and GM's are just too risk averse and want to give opportunities to backup goalies. There has also been rules set in some leagues that prohibit goalies from playing all games. In fact, no goalie has ever done it no matter what league you play in. It hasn’t been done in the VHL, NHL, AHL or any other major hockey league, though a few, including Eagles, want that to change. Eagles has tried for it every season throughout his career in the Juniors, College and now in the VHLM, and it wasn’t like he couldn’t have done it. The problem was trying to convince the coaches to let him play them all. “I always asked my coaches, Come on! One year. Let’s do it. This could be a world record. I’ll play all the games. You can pull me after 5 minutes if you want. Just let me start them all,’” Eagles said, laughing. “but it never happened, they were always worried I would get injured or tired. I came close here in San Diego but I sat out the last game, let’s just say I wasn’t to happy but I understand we are gearing up for the playoffs and the team wanted me to rest.” Before starting in the VHLM Eagles said he wanted to play a full season during his scouting combine. Eevryone thought he was joking but the best goalies always want to be in the net every game. Eagles when asked how serious he was about playing a full season responded with. “There is no doubt in my mind that I could do it and succeed. I’m still young and in shape and don’t tire as easily as some of the older guys, I take care of my body and am not injury prone” It’s an interesting point. Why does a starting goalie need a few games off when no other player on the ice requires time off? Most players, barring injury, will play the full season. Well if you ask this reporter its simple, the risk of injury is greater for a goalie than it is for players. We spoke to Eagles goalie coach who said. “Goalies, especially, they’re going to be the ones that take high speed rubber pucks to the body and the ones that drop their body a significant amount of times throughout a game. They’re more susceptible to cramping and minor injuries” In conclusion it breaks down to that the more a goalie plays, the greater the chance there is they suffer an injury that would put their team at a significant disadvantage. Because of that I don’t think we will ever see a goalie in any league play the full season. More games played, leads to more injuries “I don’t think you’ll see it,” Eagles reluctantly said. “Managers and coaches will be too afraid to do that but I would love to see more guys who wanted to do it. Maybe with some pressure things will slowly change, until then I guess I will just take my breaks when they ask me to”
  6. No one was expecting the Marlins to make the playoffs in their first year except the GM, the players on the team and the fans. While it is not yet set in stone, it looks like the Marlins will end up making the playoffs in their first ever season in the league. The Marlins currently lie in 5th place and their starting goaltender, Greg Eagles, is getting hyped up. "It's an exciting time in San Diego, no one gave us a chance and looking at the standings we are a lock to get in. Everyone is putting in extra time at practice to prep us for the playoffs. Our goal is to win the whole thing" Eagles said earlier today at practice. Eagles has been seen putting in extra work at practice in order to make sure he is the best he can be. It will be a tough challenge for San Diego in the playoffs but with the recent trades the Marlins should be able to hold their own and put up a tough fight. We look forward to seeing what these underdogs can do and how far they will go in this years playoffs
  7. Review: Agree with Walter that class of 68 does throw it off a little bit. Was definitely an interesting profile to read, some great creativity. If it was me I would add an extra picture or two. First VHL player not from Earth? Could be interesting keep up the good work
  8. Review: Great length, Pictures were a nice touch. Great background to Lance. Only thing I would really add is maybe some quotes from past coaches, players or even Lance himself just to give the article more of a real feeling. Well done!

  22. Greg Eagles is enjoying a great start to his VHLM career but the sting of not being invited to Europe's World Junior camp lingers. “The fact I haven’t been at-least invited to the camp is insulting,” Eagles said “I have been playing very well and putting in lots of practice time. They could have at-least invited me for a tryout and if I didn't make the cut then fine...but no invite?!” Europe named Owen May and Kolur Bjoernsson to the team who are both fantastic goalies and more then deserve there place on the team. “They are both great and established goalies. I have much respect for them and they do deserve the invites but I think Europe didn't invite me to that stuff because they’re afraid, afraid that I may upset the apple cart and outshine some of the more established goalies in this league” the outspoken Eagles told a local news reporter “If I go there and do well, then they have no reason not to put me on the world junior team.” Outburst aside, Greg Eagles will be cheering on Team Europe in the upcoming tournament
  23. Review: Well written rookie profile! I liked that you added a future outlook, make the scouting report that much better! Also liked some of "The office" references. Well done!
  24. Review: I liked reading this scouting report. Well done and in depth. I would just make the picture a little bit smaller and have it centered.
  25. Review: My suggestion would be to add a picture or two to make the bio a little more realistic and to give the league an image of what your player may look like. Also maybe make the skills under strength / cons a different color (eg Skating: Surprisingly Jean is a pretty .etc). Other then that well written scouting report
