  2. VHL Spotlight - Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4 The six foot, two hundred pound Spanish born centerman had been a member of the VHL since joining the league back in September 23, 2024. Bolivar quickly joined the Halifax 21st VHLM club and has seen action for the east coast club in fifty-two games so far. In those fifty-two games played, Bolivar has put up ten goals and and sixteen assists. While the offensive numbers won’t pop off the charts at first glance, you have to remember that Bolivar is playing on a Halifax club that currently finds themselves in last place in the European Conference. Off the ice, Bolivar is showing how dedicated they are in their early VHL career. To date of writing his article, Bolivar has put up 178 TPE, which puts the young forward as the tenth best prospect available for this off-season VHL Entry Draft. Bolivar had been actively putting out point tasks since joining the league and in fact has a weekly podcast with a fellow draftee, Mikko Tuomala, called “All aboard”. We wish Bolivar all the best and hope VHL teams take notice of the clear work ethic displayed in the last month and a bit in the league.
  3. The Three Peat In honor of the upcoming VHL trade deadline, the league announced the annual theme week that accompanies the trade deadline. The theme this year is “VHL Lore”, as the league is quickly coming upon its 100th anniversary. In response to this theme, I thought a quick look at one of the most hated teams in VHL, the season eighty to eighty-two Vancouver Wolves, also known as the ‘Meta team”. As many already know, the Vancouver Wolves were the second VHL franchise to win three straight Continental Cups however, the Wolves used 600 TPE players to lead them to the three championships. Those players were using basically a cheat code of max scoring, max or close to max defense and little to no passing to put up absurd offensive numbers. The commissioner team had to finally step in to fix the issue, when Beketov announced on March 5, 2022, that the league would be switching to a hybrid-based attribute system that would change the way players would update their players, making it much harder to max out certain STHS attributes. We’ll take a quick look at each years’ team to see how much offense they put up each season. Season Eighty: The Wolves won the Victory Cup in season eighty, putting up 118 points, winning fifty-seven of their seventy-two games. The team blew the other fifteen teams out of the water with 355 goals for, which was sixty-one more goals than the second-place team. During the playoffs, the Wolves played in sixteen playoff games on their way to their first continental cup of the three-peat, putting up sixty-three goals, while winning twelve of their sixteen games. The Wolves put up even more goals for in season-eighty-one as the team put up 381 goals for. The one difference in season eight-one, was the offensive for many teams in the VHL seemed to be inflated, with six teams scoring more than 300 goals on the season. The Wolves had two players eclipse the sixty goals mark in season eighty-one, as Jerome Reinhart put up sixty-one and Henry Tucker put up sixty goals. In the playoffs, the Wolves played in eighteen games and put up an eye popping ninety-four goals in those playoffs. Jerome Reinhart continued his amazing season as he put up twenty-eight goals in the Wolves eighteen playoff games. The team that season put up fifty-three goals, which was tied with the Los Angeles Stars for the most wins in the league that season. The Wolves had their worst goals for performance in the last season of their three-peat, putting up 336 goals for, which was only eleven goals more than second place London in goals for. In the playoffs, the Wolves only played in fourteen playoff games, winning twelve of those fourteen games. The team managed to score fifty-nine goals that post-season , with Tyler Reinhart leading the way with ten goals, which is a far cry from the twenty-eight goals that Jerome Reinhart put up in the season eighty-one post-season. 6. Player Spotlight – Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345 Twenty-year-old defenseman Mikko Tuomala joined the VHL earlier this month on October 6, 2024. The 6’2 Finnish born defenseman was quickly picked up off waivers by the Halifax 21st and joined the team for the clubs last twenty-four regular season games. Tuomala has had a decent start to his career in the VHLM as he has put up three goals and seven assists in those twenty-four games he has appeared in this season. Off the ice, Tuomala has been putting in work to quicky move up the draft board for this off-seasons Season Ninety-Seven VHLM Dispersal Draft. Currently Tuomala sits as the third best prospect TPE wise as we close into the half-way mark in the season, but also sits only two TPE behind the second-best prospect Pepe Silvia, in the draft. Update wise Tuomala has been working hard mostly collecting welfare however, he did claim a podcast for 6 TPE last week, which we love to see. Hopefully as Tuomala becomes more familiar and engaged in the league he can continue to pump out come 6 TPE point tasks to keep climbing the ladder even higher up until the draft day.

  8. 1. I am happier than previous years, but I think we can do more. 2. I have been happy with the start, but the last 10 games, I need to lead the team better. 3. There is a kids song that is "Are you Happy". I would hope I don't sing it around the lockerroom 4. It was a neat announcement, lot different than most VHL teams. I think a lot of our team could have been named assistant over me. 5. Call Ninefingers "Frodo" 6. I won't allow any Christmas decorations being put up prior to November 11th. 12. New Number, Who Dis? As of October 20th, 2024, most VHL teams have now played ten games in Season Ninety-Six. So far, the Seattle Bears and Vancouver Wolves are tied for first place in the North American Conference with identical 7-2-1 records. During the off-season both teams were very busy re-tooling their rosters in hopes of heading back to the Continental Cup finals this season. Today we will look at some of those new players that are playing their first season on those clubs. Vancouver Wolves: After a few years of disappointment in Vancouver, the Wolves General Manager Frank Chadwick decided it was time to shake up the roster to attempt to finally get over that playoff hump. Last season the Wolves were bounced from the playoffs in game seven of the conference semi-finals, losing to the Chicago Phoenix in a 2-0 shutout in the deciding game seven at home. Now ten games into the season, the Wolves are currently looking better than they have since Season Eighty-Nine, the last time the Wolves were in the Continental Cup Finals. King Kisslinger (S90- C) First on the list is a player with over 1000 TPA, King Kisslinger. Kisslinger was drafted fifteenth overall in the Season Ninety draft by the Warsaw Predators. Kisslinger spent the last five seasons of his VHL career after joining the Predators for Season Ninety-One season. In 360 games player with the Predators, Kisslinger put up 142 goals and 199 assists. Kisslinger also brings some playoff experience to the Wolves roster as Kisslinger and the Predators appeared in the playoffs the last three seasons for a total of twelve playoff games. In those twelve playoff games Kisslinger put up seven goals and ten assists. Now ten games in with his new team Kisslinger has put up over a point per game with six goals and eight assists in those early ten games. With most of the season still ahead, Kisslinger and the entire Wolves organization hope they trade of a first and second round picks in Season Ninety-Eight will be well worth it come seasons end. Matteo Stefano (S94 – RW) Stefano was the first pick up by the Wolves this offseason, when they picked up Stefano for one player (Owen Lazaro) and two picks (Season Ninety-Seven first and a Season Ninety-Sevent third) back on September 29, 2024. Stefano was selected fifteenth overall by the HC Davos Dynamo in the Season Ninety-Four draft and immediately joined the Dynamo last season for his rookie season. In seventy-two games played with the Dynamo last season Stefano put up twenty-four goals and twenty-one assists. Stefano also played in all fifteen playoffs games for the Dynamo last season, where he put up five assists. Now ten games into his first season with the Wolves, Stefano has put up four goals and five assists, which is good enough for sixth on the Wolves in points so far this season. With new surroundings this season for Stefano, many in the Wolves organization wouldn’t bat an eye if Stefano did put up the same point total as last season with the Dynamo, but at his current pace, Stefano appears to be exceeding expectations early in the season. Erik Thorvaldsson (S94 – D) The last new member of the Wolves, Thorvaldsson was acquired by the Wolves just a few days before the season began from the Las Angeles Stars. The Wolves acquired Thorvaldsson on October 15th, 2024, for two first round picks (Season Ninety-Seven Riga and Toronto) and defenseman Joe Block, who was acquired by the Wolves from the Calgary Wranglers just eleven days earlier. Thorvaldsson was drafted by the Los Angeles Stars with the fourteenth overall pick in the Season Ninety-Four VHL Entry Draft and joined the team right after the draft for his rookie season. Thorvaldsson played well for the Stars last season, even though the team didn’t finish the season very high in the North American Conference standings. Thorvaldsson put up eleven goals and forty assists for the Stars last season, which was fourth best amongst the entire Stars roster. Now with the Wolves this season , Thorvaldsson has put up five assists in the first ten games, while also bringing his great defensive play with a plus minus of plus four, thirteen hits and fourteen shots blocked. Brought in to be a big part of keeping the puck out of the net, Thorvaldsson has been paying off for the Wolves so far. Seattle Bears: The other North American based VHL club that finds themselves in the early tie for first place, is the Seattle Bears. The Bears have been a picture of consistency in the VHL for many years already, so seeing them at the top of the standings is no surprise. General Manager Blake Campbell went ahead this off-season re-tooling the roster as it seems he does every off-season to keep the team at the top of the standings. Of the eleven players currently on the Bears roster, over fifty percent are in their first season donning the Bears jersey. Carson Walker Jr (S89 – RW) First on the list of new Bears players in VHL journeyman Carson Walker Jr. After joining the Bears this off-season, Walker Jr. joined his fourth VHL team in his fifth VHL season, coming back to the North American conference after spending last season with the Riga Reign. IN 288 games played in his VHL career prior to Season Ninety-Six, Walker Jr. put up 117 goals and 135 assists, which for a player that hasn’t found a consistent home is some really great numbers. This season with the Bears Walker Jr has played in all ten games for the team and has contributed with five goals and three assists, which is good enough for seventh on the team in overall points. With a very good offensive team around him in Seattle, will Season Ninety-Six be the season that Carson tops his highest point total of eight-one points he put up with Davos back in Season Ninety-Three. Eno Velvson (S90 – LW) Season Ninety draftee Eno Velvson joined the Bears this offseason in a trade that saw Severus Targaryen being sent the other way to the Riga Reign. Velvson was drafted twenty-fifth overall by the D.C. Dragons in the Season Ninety VHL Entry Draft and played the last three seasons with Riga after a trade to Riga back in Season Ninety-Two. While Velvson is not currently practicing with the Bears each week, he is still showing up to games each night and has put up three goals and three assists in his first ten games with Seattle. Velvson has been part of VHL clubs recently that saw a lot of club success with him on the roster, and Seattle will be hoping that Velvson can bring a cup to Seattle this season, like he helped Riga do last year. Sunset Moth (S91 – D) Sunset Moth joins the Seattle Bears after spending the first two years of his VHL career with the HC Davos Dynamo, after being dealt to Davos by the Warsaw Predators in Season Ninety-three. Warsaw originally drafted Moth thirteenth overall back in the Season Ninety-One VHL Entry Draft before trading him to Davos before he was able to play a game in Warsaw. Moth got his feet wet in the VHL with Davos, enduring a rough first season with the rebuilding Dynamo before playing on a club last season that made it back to the playoffs. In 144 games played with Davos the past two seasons, Moth put up sixteen goals and forty assists. Moth also got a taste of the VHL playoffs last season and in the Dynamos fifteen games he appeared in, was able to put up one goal and two assists. Now in his first season with the Bears, Moth has almost matched his point total from all of last season, as the young defenseman has put up one goal and nine assists in the Bears first ten games. With over sixty games remaining in the season, it wouldn’t be a stretch to predict that Moth will be putting gup career numbers this season, in his first season with the Bears. Nathan Ecker (S93 – RW) Nathan Ecker is the next player on our list of “new” arrivals in Seattle, as the Season Ninety-Three draftee was acquired from the London United hockey club on October 9th, 2024., for a Malmo Nighthawks second round pick in Season Ninety-Seven. Of course, if you investigate Eckers player movement, you will technically notice the six-foot right winger technically played in Seattle in his rookie season in Season Ninety-Five, he was technically traded away from Seattle when they started the re-tooling. General Manager Campbell and Ecker had a change of heart after the initial trade that took place on October 2, 2024, and the Bears re-acquired Ecker on October 9, 2024. Last season with the Bears Ecker had a decent rookie season in Seattle, putting up fifteen goals and thirty assists in the Bears seventy-two regular season games. Ecker also appears in all ten playoff games for the Bears, where he put up a respectable two goals and three assists. Now as the season progresses, Campbell and the Bears organization hope that re-acquiring Ecker just seven days after trading him away will pay dividends not only in the regular season but also in the VHL post-season. Lazlo Holmes (S94 – D) Lazlo Holmes is playing in his second VHL season this year in Season Ninety-Six after his rookie season with the Prague Phantoms. Holmes was originally drafted by the Phantoms, tenth overall in the Season Ninety-Four draft and with the TPE he possessed prior to the draft was able to jump right into the VHL for the Prague based VHL team. Holmes had a very good season offensively as a defenseman for the Phantom last season, as he put up nineteen goals and thirty-four assists in the Phantoms seventy-two games. Despite the great season from Holmes, he and the club were unable to break into the VHL playoffs as Prague finished as the worst team in the VHL with a 11-55-6 record. Then just a few games before the season began, Holmes found himself leaving the only VHL organization he knew as the Bears acquired him from the Phantoms for a Season Ninety-Eight Las Angeles first rounder, along with a Season Ninety-Seven second (Las Angeles) and third rounder (London). With the Bears paying quite a price to bring in Holmes, the feeling was a lot was expected out of the young defenseman in Seattle. So far in the ten games Seattle has played in Holmes has not disappointed. In those ten games Holmes has put up four goals, six assists, a plus/minus of plus six, fourteen hits and seventeen shots blocked. With a great start under his belt so far in the early going of Season Ninety-Six, Holmes has already endured himself to the Bears management and faithful fans. The Phantom of the VHL (S94 – C) The last player on our list of new members of the Vancouver Wolves and Seattle Bears, The Phantom of the VHL, is another Season Ninety-Four draftee that was targeted by the Bears to help their re-tooling this season. The Phantom of the VHL was picked up by the Bears on the same day they picked up Holmes on October 15th, 2024. The Phantom of the VHL spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Stars, where he put up good numbers especially considering his TPE during those two seasons. In 144 games played for the Los Angeles Stars, The Phantom of the VHL put up forty-six goals and seventy-six assists. Unfortunately, during his tenure with the Stars, the team didn’t have the greatest success on the ice, which meant The Phantom of the VHL has not seen any VHL playoff action in his first two seasons in the league. After being traded to the Bears, it was expected that The Phantom of the VHL would continue to put up points for the team and in the ten games so far, he has done just that. The Phantom of the VHL has put up four goals and seven assists, while putting up a 8.33 shooting percentage. Now The Phantom of the VHL has started off hot in his first season with the Bears, the question is now will be able to finish it the same way? 2, 059 Words October 21-27 October 28-November 3 November 4-10 November 11-17

  15. Review: it’s always a great feeling to play the last game of the season and win it as well. Getting traded midseason to the eventual cup winners, must have felt great as well after winning the cup. Good read, it’s alway tough to leave a team even if it’s for better things in your career. It appears Jacobcarson had a big impact on you in the JST and it good to hear your reunited and it likely feels so good.
  16. Review: what do you have against a picture or two in media spots? In all seriousness it was a good read on the roster for miamis upcoming season. They are in good hands with you and Ricer at the helm. The media spot itself was a good read with a lot of in depth stats from S95. Good luck to you and everyone in Miami!

  18. Season 96 VHL Entry Draft Re-cap This past week the annual VHL Entry Draft took place, allowing VHL prospects to take their first steps towards hopefully a long and productive VHL career. Today I will look back at some of those players that were drafted in the most recent draft. 1st Overall: Pan Daffleck (Prague Phantoms): Daffleck was the consensus first overall pick for most of the season heading into the VHL Entry Draft and the Phantoms made that thought a reality when they stepped up to the podium last Friday to start off the draft. Daffleck spent last season with the Cologne Express, putting up three goals and five assists in seventy-two games with the Express. A defensive defenseman by nature, Daffleck wasn’t expected to put up big offensive numbers so the Phantoms know they shouldn’t be expecting much offensively from Daffleck next season in what will be his first VHL season. Daffleck was also selected in the VHLM Dispersal Draft after the VHLE stopped operations this off-season. Daffleck was selected third overall by the Mississauga Hounds, but with 425 TPE earned to date, it appears that pick won’t pan out for the Hounds. 2nd Overall: River Harrington (Moscow Meance): Harrington was taken second overall by the Moscow Meance but could have easily gone in the top spot of the draft with 403 TPE on draft night. Harrington spent the last two seasons in Ottawa with the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM. Harrington saw action in ninety-one games with the Lynx putting up thirty-three goals and seventy assists in those ninety-one games. Much like Daffleck, Harrington is a defense first defenseman at this point of his career, with minimal TPE put into scoring and passing at this point. Harrington now sits at 426 TPE as of writing this article, which means he will likely see action his season in the VHL with Moscow however, Harrington has banked his last twenty-seven TPE which mean he currently sits under 400 TPE as we head further into the off-season. 3rd Overall: Brandon Petan Jr (D.C. Dragons): The next player selected in the draft was Brandon Petan Jr. who was taken third overall by the D.C. Dragons. Petan was the first forward taken off the draft board after a very productive season last year in the VHLM also with the Ottawa Lynx. Petan played in all seventy-two games last season with the Lynx, putting up an impressive thirty-nine goals and forty assists. The eighteen-year-old Canadian born forward will head to the American capital to hopefully lead the Dragons back to the playoffs, after the team has failed to qualify for the post-season the last two seasons. Currently as the league is in the middle of an off-season, Petan Jr was just recently announced as one of the nine forwards that will be representing Canada in the World Junior Championships. Petan currently has 413 TPE with 400 TPA applied, which means it will be up to the Dragons if they will make season ninety-six the rookie season for Petan Jr. 4th Overall: Alagsantere Groenvold (London United): Next up on the draft re-cap is Alagsantere Groenvold who at the time of the draft had 359 TPE, which was only 30 TPE behind Petan Jr. Groenvold was drafted by the London United a team that is only one season removed from a 108-point first place season in the European Conference. Now the United are amid a rebuild with only one defenseman currently over the 400 TPE mark. Groenvold will join a VHL club that will desperately need defenseman but could also help the club offensively as he showed last season in the VHLM with The Mexico City Kings. With the United unlikely to contend for a playoff spot in season ninety-six, there is a very good likelihood that Groenvold will head back to Mexico City for another kick at the can with the VHLM based club. Groenvold is also heading off to represent his country in the World Junior Championship, as he will be representing Team World in season ninety-five version of the tournament. 5th Overall: Deadpanda (Moscow Meance): With their second pick of the first round of the Season 96 VHL Entry Draft, Moscow Meance selected the first goaltender of the draft, Deadpanda. Last season Deadpanda put VHL teams on notice with a stellar VHLM season with the Las Vegas Aces. Deadpanda played in all seventy-two games for the Aces putting up a record of 50-15-7. Along with putting up league leading fifty wins, Deadpanda put up a .924 save percentage and 1.75 goals against average, which also led the league. Currently Deadpanda has 344 TPE, which means the forty-seven, yes forty-seven-year-old netminder will be heading back to the Sin City for another VHLM season. Unlike the prospect that were drafted ahead of him in the draft Deadpanda was not announced as being selected for the upcoming World Junior Championships, which might light a fire under the Portuguese born goalie. 6th Overall: Slava Kovalenko (Warsaw Predators): Warsaw headed up to the podium for the first pick of their draft and selected Slava Kovalenko, the first, first generation VHLer taken in the draft. Since joining the VHL back on June 24, 2024, Kovalenko has continued to show his worth week in and week out on and off the ice. At the time of the draft Kovalenko had obtained 318 TPE, while on the ice for the Mississauga Hounds, Kovalenko put up an amazing twenty-four goals and sixty-five assists in seventy-two games with the Hounds. The eighty-night points that Kovalenko put up last season in the VHL, lead all defenseman in points, three points ahead of second place Mathias Gunnarsson. 7th Overall: Joel Jakobs (Warsaw Predators): The last player we will look at today was the player who was drafted seventh overall by the Warsaw Predators. With their second pick in the first round Warsaw looked to shore up their forward core by selecting Joel Jakobs. Last season in the VHLM with the Philadelphia Reapers, Jakobs showed what an offensive powerhouse he could be putting up thirty-three goals and sixty-two assists in seventy-two games. Jakobs took his play to the next level in the VHLM playoffs where he put up eight goals and sixteen assists in the Reapers fourteen game playoff run. With 262 TPE to date, Jakobs will need a bit more seasoning in the VHLM, but with an already impressive first campaign in the VHLM, Warsaw is very excited to add Jakobs to the fold. For weeks: October 7th-13th October 14th-20
  19. 1. Were we looking to trade PMB? I’m confused and would miss him the most. 2. I hope all the new guys to the Wolves take on a bigger role and contribute on our quest for a Continental Cup. 3. Vidarsson was the MVP, kept us in many games as our offense struggled hard. 4. Biggest waste of space award? I finally win something. 5. I have a lot of respect for Vidarsson so I will not be looking forward to him shutting us down as he’s likely expecting to do. 6. Speaking of winning once, I would like to win the lottery once. More than a free ticket of course.

  23. Review: I actually read all the way through and will await my award. I understand your life is much busier than it use to be, but I’m glad you’re still putting aside the time to pump out media spots. Hopefully you’ll find that perfect new name for your next player. With the format of the media spot it was a bit hard to follow along properly, but good content always wins. Could use a picture or some colour to make it pop. 7/10
