  2. The VHL Life in New York City We caught up with Dalton Wilcox after a tough game against the DC Dragons. He played well but the New York Americans were not able to pull out the victory. Wilcox, who has 34 points in 35 games in his rookie season in the VHL has made a seamless adjustment since coming up from VHLM. Dalton told us about how his life off the ice has been: “You know, it’s been totally awesome. I’m just living the dream you know, literally. Since I was young I’ve always wanted to do something in public service, whether as a policeman, firefighter, or even military service. The NYPD had graciously reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to tag along on a ride along. I literally had my own version of Training Day. I was paired up with a tough, narcotics officer, but I had some shady feelings about him. We drove around Harlem busting kids on street corners for smoking weed or crack. But instead of confiscating them, my partner smoked them up. It was insane! We also broke up some drug deals, but instead of taking anyone away, my partner ended up buying stuff from the dealer! It was unbelievable! He told me not to tell anyone (but now I’m telling the VHL media) but i shall not name him just in case I need to get into witness protection. In our drive, I even caught sight of some of our local superheroes. In Harlem, I saw Luke Cage (can’t miss him). He was singlehandedly lifting up heavy pieces of equipment without machinery with some local construction crews. In Hell’s Kitchen, I saw a red blur who I am pretty sure was Daredevil. I just saw some horns on his head and sunglasses. It could have been a junkie, who knows? He didn’t recognize me at all so I doubt he’s a New York Americans fan. Another day, I was invited to practice with the New York Knicks as they are gearing up for their training camp. I met newest draftee RJ Barrett. We played some HORSE and one-one-one. Not gonna lie, I actually managed to beat him a few times. Also dummied Julius Randle, who just signed a gigantic contract with the Knicks Coach David Fizdale said I have NBA potential as a shooting guard. I have a nice jumper with range out to the three point line. I’m a pure scorer, just like my playing style on the ice. Not sure GM @esso would be too happy with me transitioning to basketball! After the Knicks practice I met Knicks super fan Spike Lee. He thought I was the Knicks newest free agent signing after seeing me dummy a few of his guys, and had no idea I was am a hockey superstar. I convinced him to come out to the next few Americans games. We’re going to be the next big in town, and he didn’t want to miss it!” Stay tuned as Wilcox tells us more of us playboy hard partying lifestyle off the ice in next week’s installment.
  3. Elias Dahlberg @StamkosFan @Quiki think this order is right...correct?
  4. We caught up with Dalton Wilcox from the after a hard fought game against the Prague Phantoms. As you may have seen from last week's installment, Wilcox revealed his super complex workout plan. Today, we get from him his diet plan: "Pre workout: Red bull (since it gives you wings) Post workout: protein shakes for the gains. Post game: beers (an extra one for each goal I scored that night) Pre-game: Steak, potatoes (meat and potatoes just like my hockey game style) Off days: varies between burgers, fries, pizza, hot dogs, poutine if i'm feeling extra Canadian" Clearly this highly nutritional diet plan is working. In his rookie season, Wilcox is averaging almost a point per game with 34 points (17 goals) in 35 games.
  5. 1. How do you expect us to place at the end of the season? Near the bottom unfortunately. Personally I am doing well but our team isn't. Hopefully things get better. 2. Which team looks the most dangerous on the ice? Everyone's looked scary to me. Vancouver's got a lot of pedigree, Riga and Helsinki are the top teams. 4. Gunnarson and A Red Guy are out with the flu, who straps on the pads? None, we'll handle things 6 on 5. 5. If there was a NYA Fight Club who would be the defending champ? Probably Legrande? Or Boris the Forest? Even that name sounds scary. 6. Who are the real surprises in terms of performance this season league wide? I'm surprised we're doing as poorly as we are. It's disappointing but understandable. 7. How are you doing? I'm alive, so that's nice.

  7. @Quikwhen do I make it up? Anytime?
  8. Having won the WJC last season as part of Team World, I can vouch for @Elmebeck

  10. Hah, I didnt even notice it was just defense lol. Nice work and I'm looking forward to it if you ever do one.?
  11. We caught up with Dalton Wilcox after his most recent game. One would expected after a hard game that he would look tired, but he seemed fresh and still full of energy. Wilcox, who has put up 20 points in 22 games so far in his rookie VHL season, let us in on some of the secret workouts he uses in order to keep in shape throughout the season. "I work out about three times a week. You can compare my work ethic to the legendary Jaromir Jagr Mondays: Bicep curls Wednesdays: Bicep curls Fridays: Bicep curls After games, the cooldown is taking off my gear and cracking open a cold one with the boys in the locker room". There you have it folks! That's the secret workout of the next big thing in the VHL. Next week, stay tuned on VHL.com as Wilcox shares his diet and meal plans!

  13. Nice article and I'm excited to play for this team. But what about me :(
  14. 2. What's one area of your game you think you need to improve? Probably my scoring and finishing ability. I take a ton of shots and have decent assist numbers, but I only have 7 goals. A 7% scoring percentage ain't gonna cut it if I'm trying to help my team succeed. 3. With 19 games under our belts, S68 2nd overall pick Lance Flowers has shown his ability to hang with the pros. How does it feel playing with one of the most prolific picks of the S68 draft? No offence, but honestly it's not a big deal to me. I'm also a rookie and have been putting just as good numbers, if not better. But really, it's about our growth and development as a team rather than focus on any one individual player. 7. If you could change one thing about the league, what would it be? Not sure if this is possible but automated TPE approvals would be nice. It would just save a lot of time for everybody, especially the approvers. 8. If you follow the NHL, what team(s)/player(s) are you most excited about this upcoming season? I'm a big fan of the Vancouver Canucks. They have a great young core and it's exciting to watch them grow and dominate the league (Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes, Horvat) 9. Have you ever played Ice Hockey outside of the VHL? Yes I have. I've been playing ice hockey for over 7 years and am now a beer league superstar. 10. What kind of questions do you want to see next week? Maybe something that is not hockey related. Let's get to know our team and players a bit more off the ice!

  19. One Night in NYC Part 2 (well...Next Morning/Day) After leaving his friend the night before, @Elmebeck completed his post draft interviews, media appearances and photoshoots that are required of all VHL rookies the next morning. After these activities were complete, he decided to call up his friend. No reply. Maybe he just decided to sleep in. No problem, just call back in an hour or so. Still nothing. Ok, maybe he doesn’t want to talk right now, talking on the hungover on the phone can be a big PITA. So @Elmebeck shoots him a couple of texts hoping Wilcox will respond when he can. After all, they had a big introductory press conference with the New York Americans that day that they both had to attend. Unbeknownst to his friend, Wilcox had passed out on the torch at the statue of liberty(see Part one here). His phone was also long gone (probably left it at 40/40 club) so he wasn’t able to receive any of Elmebeck’s phone calls or texts. However, what Wilcox managed to salvage from the crash the night before was one of the radios from the beta model of Iron Man’s suit. It wasn’t damaged from the crash at all but Wilcox had some much external compounds coursing through his veins, he couldn’t piece together how to work it. Wilcox however, did manage to turn on a blinking high powered LED. He hoped that the flashing light would be able to get somebody’s attention and they would be able to call for help. As Elmebeck roamed the streets looking for his friend, he decided to retrace his steps from the night before. He searched high and low at all the bars and clubs they attended the night before, and being a VIP hockey star, all the exclusive clubs let him in. Having no luck, he decided to go back to all the tourist attractions they visited they before in hopes of being able to find some clues. He knew Wilcox really enjoyed the Statue of Liberty so he hoped to find him there. However, he didn’t have much time. The press conference started in about an hour and the two rookies didn’t want to disappoint their new GM @Esso2264! As Elmebeck got closer to the Statue of Liberty he noticed one of those tourist helicopters hovering around the torch. There was a blinking light coming from the torch! His first thought was are the light bulbs in the torch burning out? No way, it’s got to be his buddy Wilcox! Elmebeck quickly took out his phone and dialled up his new friend Jay-Z whom he met last night. “Yo Jay, need a helicopter ASAP. Gotta pick up up Wilcox from the torch.” “Done. H-OVA” Soon Elmebeck rode the helicopter up to torch and found his buddy. “Yo Elemebeck! Where have you been!? I’ve got this radio here but it ain’t working!” “It’s working alright. You just gotta press the “Power” button. Anyway, press conference starts in 30 minutes, we gotta get outta here!” “Don’t worry, I know just how to get there on time!” With the radio now powered on, Wilcox radioed new friend Tony Stark. “Hey Tony, my man. Elembeck and I need some transportation as ASAP as possible! Can you lend us a hand?” Soon, Wilcox and Elembeck received their suits (Wilcox in Iron Man and Elemebeck as War Machine) and flew to the press conference, arriving just at the nick of time. words: 582 *sorry for the all bold, was copied and pasted and it was a formatting nightmare trying to fix it*

  21. After having been drafted and playing in the inaugural Commissioner's Cup, we caught up with Dalton Wilcox after the hard fought series: "Yeah, it was a cool experience getting to play with the best of the best in the VHLM. A lot of these guys were stars in their respective VHLM teams that I got a chance to play against in the WJC. Also even better lighting up the scoreboard and being one of the highest scorers. Thanks to @diamond_acefor drafting me and giving me the opportunity. Also had a great fight with @JeffD. Although he was my former teammate with the Houston Bulls, I heard him talking sh*t about me, so I had to go get him. Props to him for a great fight." Wilcox put up 14 points in the 3 games series as one of the highest scoring players in the matchup.
