  1. 1. How has the team and/or the league been for you so far? This being my roookie season in the VHL, I have been pleasantly surprised with how things are going so far. I am just under a point per game and am playing with some great teammates. It should be a great season of development for me. 2. If you could start your player over, what would you change? I wouldn't change a thing. I am happy with how I'm progressing and my performance in each team that I play for.stu grim 3. How do you feel about your own performance this early in the season? Extremely happy about it. I am almost a point per game right now and that's just amazing for a rookie. 6. What team mate do you think will score the most points this season? Boris the Forest. He's one of the most experienced forwards on the team and I look forward to playing with him throughout the season. 8. How do you feel about the expansion teams now that the season has started? I had a brief stint in Prague having been picked up by them in the expansion draft. They're set up for success now but the DC Dragons have a ton of picks, building towards the future. I think both teams have promising futures, but I am partial to the Phantoms. 10. We have a promising roster that should be good in the future, do you agree? Absolutely. We might not contend this year but I think we'll be perennial contenders in years to come.
  2. @Quietknightcan't go wrong with @Elmebeckas your assistant GM with the Saskatoon wild. Pick them!

  9. One Night in NYC Part 1 This is a recollection of the fateful night as Dalton Wilcox first landed in New York as the newest member of the New York Americans. The details of this story are true based off of Wilcox’s memory (or not). As Dalton Wilcox got off the plane at John F Kennedy Airport in New York City after being traded from the Prague Phantoms, he texted his buddy who had been drafted earlier in the day, @Elmebeck: “I’m here. Let’s rage.” Elmebeck drove up to the tarmac a Lambo that @Esso2264 graciously agreed to loan him, and said “Get in. This city is ours”. Soon the duo made their way toward the city and embarked on a sightseeing tour. Elmebeck, who had only been in New York for several hours before Wilcox landed acted as tour guide. They hit up all the usual tourist hotspots: The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, etc… As Wilcox said “It was my first time in New York, so it was pretty cool to hit up those spots. It’s always nice to see what NYC has to offer.” As night came, the duo decided to hit up some of the popular night life spots in town including 1 OAK and TAO. Being the new young hockey superstars in town, they felt like rock stars. People were buying them drinks, the ladies were giving them a lot of attention and they even met up with a couple celebrities, such as Jay-Z and Beyonce. They were having the time of their lives. Wilcox recalled suddenly having a great idea. “Why don’t we take this party all around NYC? Why restrict ourselves to just these two clubs?” Now this is where the night starts to get a little hazy. Wilcox said Elmebeck had to do some post draft rookie stuff the next day so he decided to call it a night. Elmebeck went back to his new condo with a pretty young blonde and left his friend. After his friend left, Wilcox remembers heading to the next stop, the 40/40 Club that is co-owned by his new buddy, Jay-Z. There, Wilcox had some drinks (only a few) and some other things (what he had, he wouldn’t say), but let’s just say Wilcox had a good time. There, he ran into Tony Stark who was out with a couple of his “Avenger” buddies. Mr. Stark, a big hockey fan, invited the new Americans star to visit Stark Tower for a quik tour. Wilcox, who always loved superheroes as a child, agreed. Inside the tower, Wilcox was amazed at what weapons and vehicles the Avengers had at their disposal. When Stark wasn’t looking, Wilcox quickly put on one of Stark’s new Iron Man suits and flew out of Stark tower! Unable to control the suit’s power (it was a beta version) Wilcox started to lose control and started spiraling in the sky. Wilcox looked for the highest place he could land, which at this point was the Statue of Liberty. As he was falling, luckily the defensive shield mechanisms were automatically enabled (thank you Mr. Stark) and Wilcox made a crash landing on the torch. Seeing Wilcox making a safe landing, Mr. Stark recalled the suit and it flew away from Wilcox and back home to Stark Tower. Having consumed a bit (okay a lot) of alcohol and feeling the effects of the other things he consumed, Wilcox passed out on the top of the torch of the Statue of Liberty. What happened next to young Mr. Wilcox? Stay tuned for part 2 of “One Night in NYC”. words: 606
  10. After being traded from Prague who picked him up in the expansion draft, Dalton Wilcox has arrived at New York City. He was greeted by his good buddy @Elmebeckwho was just drafted 9th overall at the JFK Airport. Wilcox and Elmebeck were good buddies who played in the VHLM together with the Houston Bulls. Both being new to New York, they decided to go sightseeing. They hit up all the major sights: the Empire State building, Ground zero, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. They even made a quik jaunt to see the Avengers headquarters. After the sight seeing tour, they decided to go on a pub crawl to sample the night life. This is when things got blurry. After bar #4, they somehow split up and parted ways for the night. In the morning, Wilcox did not return any of @Elmebeck's calls or texts. Worried, Elmebeck embarked on a city wide search of his friend. Luckily, Elmebeck heard some people shouting and the resulting from a helicopter tour that was circling NYC and found his buddy on top of the Statue of Liberty sitting at the torch. Wilcox declined comment at this time but a further media spot will be written on Wilcox's recollection of the night's happenings.
  11. 2. Do your have any friends or ex team mates that are now on the team, if so, who? Yes, I am coming to New York with @Elmebeckwho I spent last season playing with in Houston in the VHLM. We've become fast friends both on and off the ice and it's awesome to start our VHL careers together on the same team. 3. How would you grade how well our GM did in the draft? Looking at the draft results, it looks like a great and promising core is being built. I'm excited to join this team and its core with all these exciting young players coming up. 4. Do you feel we now have a team to build into the future? Absolutely. We may not be contenders this season but a little bit of short term pain will set up to be perennial contenders in years to come. 5. Are you excited to be a part of the team now that we have some good players drafted? 100%. Im excited for us to grow and develop together as a team. I'm also excited to get the opportunity contribute and be a key player with New York. 8. Will the addition of new players make you more determined to push as hard as you can to suceed as a player? I'm always trying to be the player that I can be, whether there's new players or not. I do like the competition and I think it makes me better as a player. 9. What are you expectations for this coming season? Making the jump to the VHL will bring its challenges but I do feel I am up to it. I hope to make a key contribution to the NY team and to help us fight for a playoff spot.
  12. We talked to Dalton Wilcox of the Malmo Nighthawks regarding getting potentially picked up in the expansion draft and having to leave Malmo, the team that drafted him 28th overall in S67. This is what he had to say "Obviously I would like to play out my career with the NIghthawks, but business is business. Malmo is a great team with a lot of great forwards, so there clearly is a logjam in that position. They also have a very high pick in the upcoming VHL draft so they will be getting some stud prospects coming in. Maybe there's no room left for me there and I am going to be the one that is phased out. I plan to show Malmo what they're missing and lighting them up every time I play them." Will Wilcox live up to his challenge? Will he actually score against Malmo? Or is he delusional? Stay tuned...
  13. hell yeah brother
  14. 1. To prove im the the very best player in the league and to prove my doubters wrong. 2. Not really, scoring has always been an asset in my game. Its the rest of my game that needs work. 3. Nope, everyone has been great. @Elmebeckhas been a great partner in crime. 4. No preference. Happy to play for whoever pays me. 5. Zeno Minitti was my rival in the VHLM scoring race, so I would say him. 6. HOpefully I can play with @Elmebeckagain, we bonded on and off the ice. 7. I consider myself an offensive scoring machine and that is exactly how my two seasons in the VHLM have played out. 8. Bicep curls. Curls for the girls. 9. Nothing to fix, we had the best designer in the VHLM. 10. This might not be happening as I will be moving p the VHL, as well as being a candidate for the expansion draft.
  15. Dalton Wilcox Season Reflections Offseason Plan Q: Now that you’ve had a few weeks off and had a chance to decompress after the VHLM playoffs, how do you feel your season with the Houston Bulls went? A: Obviously it sucks to have been eliminated so early in the playoffs, but overall I’m happy with my season. I ended up as one of the top 5 goal scorers in the VHLM and was in the goal scoring and points race the whole season. A lot of credit goes to @FrostBeard who really put me into a position to succeed and to my teammates who were really supportive of me the whole season. Q: Was there anything you could have done differently in the playoffs? A: I don’t think so. We were dominated in all facets of the game. Maybe some lines had to be tinkered and some strategies had to be adjusted, but I don’t think it really would have made a difference. We were just unprepared. Q: How have you been spending the last few weeks after the playoffs ended? Have you been following the VHL/VHLM playoffs? A: To be honest, I was in a pretty bad place for short period of time. I had extremely high hopes for the playoffs and was pretty sure we were in contention for the championship. The quik exit led me back to the bottle. A lot of hours were spent in bars and in places I can’t mention in a family friendly interview. Luckily @Elmebeck was around and was able to pick me up whenever I was feeling down. He ended up being one of my closest teammates on the team and we’ve had some fun times during and after the season. I look forward to seeing him drafted into the VHL and hopefully we can end up on the same team (even though he hates Malmo). Q: What is your offseason looking like? A: So yeah, I’ve returned to the family farm just to help out a bit. I’ve been away from them all season so it’s cool to see how the animals and crops have grown, and just how things changed over the last few months. I plan on helping out there for a few weeks before getting back into training. Q: What is your offseason training plan? Any specific areas of focus? A: Luckily I have a homemade gym at the family ranch so I do plan on spending a lot of time in there. One can always get bigger, faster and stronger so I’ll be working on a lot of powerlifting and HIIT. The plan is to work on explosiveness, speed and to be able to get stronger. I lost a lot of board battles this year so the plan is to get bigger in order to fend off the bigger and faster dmen in the VHL. As far as skills go, I’ve actually contacted famous skills coach and NHL hall of famer Adam Oates for some one on one training. He’s one of the best playmakers the game has ever seen, and that’s one part of my game I really need to wok on. I look forward to learning a lot from him as I make the jump to the VHL. words: 543

  17. With his VHLM career winding down after a disappointing playoff exit with the Houston Bulls, Dalton Wilcox is ready to transition to the VHL. The fast skating, hard shooting scorer has developed nicely, starting with 40 points in his first season with the San Diego Marlins and then finishing up with 95 points the following season with the Houston Bulls. He has really rounded out his game, but still has more to work on in order to succeed at the next level. Wilcox is currently property of the Malmo Nighthawks, who drafted him 19th overall in S67, but with the expansion draft looming, his future still very much up in the air. Wilcox will be happy for the opportunity to play for the team that drafted him, but ultimately knows that the VHL is a business and he'll go play wherever he ends up. Wilcox ends his VHLM career with 66 goals and 69 assists (nice) for 135 points in 144 games. Will Wilcox be able to sustain his lofty scoring totals at the next level? Will he be a total bust? Stay tuned...

  19. Haha yaa... we shat the bed. Great timing on my part with this article.
  20. After being called out by huge ass, err.. @HughJas_during the recent Minnesota Storm press conference, Dalton Wilcox was asked to respond to Hugh Chan's comments: "I know Minnesota has the 2-0 lead over us right now, but the series is far from over. He better be careful otherwise @Elmebeck(our PIMS leader) will come for him. I look forward to playing at Malmo with Chan. He's a great dman in the in the VHLM, just like I'm a great scorer in the VHLM. To be honest, I don't know how he can compare himself to me. If I end up somewhere else in the expansion draft, he better watch his back".

  22. With the announcement of 2 new VHL team names coming earlier this week, the discussion turns to where are these teams playing in and what are their names? The location of the expansion teams are still to be announced but for now, we can still discuss potential team names We spoke to Dalton Wilcox from the Houston Bulls for some ideas for team names and here are some team names: Buzz bullets - a team for built for speed and high tempo offense The Whiskey Jacks - we all love whiskey. who wouldn't want to be a fan of the whiskey jacks? Ironside - a steel bottom implies a strong back end The 69ers - Self explanatory The Mustangs - swift like a horse with a powerful kick Revolver - implies a powerful offensive Will the VHL use any of Dalton Wilcox's suggestions for team names? Is he just out of his mind? Stay tuned...
  23. Potential VHL Expansion Team Locations As we all know, VHL expansion is upon us, so let’s go through some of the expansion locations through as suggested and/or reviewed by renowned world traveler (not really) Dalton Wilcox: Edmonton: Oof this is a tough one. Edmonton is cold, dreary and there’s just not much to see in town. There’s not much to do here other than go to that big ass mall in town. At least the players won’t have too many distractions off the ice and can focus on hockey. This also might be a little too close to another VHL team in Calgary. Tokyo: Dalton loves Tokyo! Konichi-wa! Expanding to Tokyo will bring the first VHL team into the Asian market and Tokyo has all the infrastructure needed to support a professional hockey team.. The food (sushi!), the sights, the nightlife the ladies (Dalton loves his Japanese girls), are all amazing! The only potential con of Tokyo is that hockey is not that big (yet) and attendance might be an issue at VHL games. Also the availability of such delicious food will make keeping up fitness an ongoing challenge. However, the Japanese fans tend to be passionate about their sports and Dalton sees them growing to love their VHL team should they get one. Oslo: Ah the capital of Norway. Norway is quickly becoming a hockey hotbed in the international scene having been more competitive in international competitions in recent years. Oslo is considered one of the most livable cities in the world with a high quality of life rankings, and the players on Oslo’s roster will absolutely love living here. Food, attractions and culture are all amazing here, not to mention all the skiing that can be done on days off. If Dalton gets picked up in the expansion draft by Oslo, he would welcome it with open arms. Sydney: Oy mate! Hello from the land down unda! Like Tokyo, hockey may not be a traditional Australian sport but Dalton thinks that the fans are going to love it, especially the way Dalton plays, which should remind them of life in the outback (whatever that means). Australia has nice weather and kangaroos, and plenty of beaches for surfing and swimming on off days. Rio de Janeiro: If the VHL decides to expand to South America, Rio de Janeiro could be an enticing option. The warm weather, many beaches, Brazilian women (carnival!!) will all be attractive to VHL players. There are also a lot of tourist attractions in Rio, however players must be aware at all times as crime may be a problem in this city. Brazil is a soccer-first country and hockey may not get the attention it deserves amongst the fans, so the VHL will definitely need to do some work in order to fill the stands. These locations may not necessarily be traditional hockey markets (other than Edmonton and Oslo) but it does expand the reach of VHL further across the globe. Is this what the VHL wants? Or is this what Dalton wants? For global domination? Stay tuned... word count: 513
