  1. I like the alternate logo with the red eyes better than this one but that's just my two cents.
  2. @Brrbisbrr I plan on writing an article comparing corn syrup, honey, and maple syrup next.
  3. MacBurn on the board again ending his pointless streak.
  4. 231 Moscow Menace 232 Riga Reign 233 Calgary Wranglers 234 Toronto Legion
  5. +10 Finnegan MacBurn once other updates go through
  6. The Virtues of Maple Syrup How many times have we seen a locker room showered in celebratory champagne? It's so common that players are now purchasing ski goggles to protect their eyes in anticipation of a bubbly shower. The Golden State Warriors spent in the hundreds of thousands on their champagne celebration a little over a year ago. Champagne isn't the only culprit invading winning locker rooms. In many we see instances of beer being used to dose a player or coach reaching a particular milestone. The Toronto Blue Jays did just that to their coach Charlie Montoyo whom had gotten his first major league win after coaching in the minors for years. The Indianapolis 500 winner traditionally takes a milk shower. A tradition with roots all the way back to 1936. I say it's time for a new tradition to be started. The best way for the VHL to celebrate is with maple syrup. What do you think? Also out of curiosity in the replies let me know if you're in favor of pancakes or waffles.
  7. Claiming 6. Using birthday double making it 12 tpe total.
  8. FACES Magazine Out of the Crowd The Ottawa Lynx are doing well in the VHLM this year currently holding second place in the standings as we are just about at the halfway point of the season. Finnegan MacBurn one of the team's first year defensemen has truly embraced the local culture of Canada's national capital. He has been seen socializing with members of parliament and senators. Not only has he been schmoozing with the politically powerful but has significantly invested in local businesses. Purchasing a local landmark Fortune Farms one of the region's largest maple syrup producers. The upper crust of the financial spectrum have been hobnobbing with MacBurn at local festivals. All of this makes one wonder what does this young man have up his sleeve? Is he planning on running for a political office? Is he considering becoming a member of the ownership group? Is he just a young man having fun? When asked MacBurn replied, "I just love this town! I want to explore and enjoy it while I can. The life of a professional athlete is inherently unpredictable. Who knows where I may end up next year." Finnegan's mother is an artist and a museum curator so it's not a huge surprise that he attended an exhibition opening at the National Gallery of Canada. It was surprising to get word from a source that he made a large contribution to the NGC Foundation for the arts. The source would only go on record anonymously and confirmed the amount donated was substantial. Apparently this mysterious young man is also wealthy. Where will he rank on the list featuring the most eligible bachelors of Ottawa this year? Only time will tell and you will have to wait for out special issue to come out later. Many of our readers may not know Finnegan is not only a VHL hopeful but the 22 year old is already an owner and CEO of XTex a small company based out of the Silicon Valley in California. Work on advanced materials and microbiotics is apparently conducted there. Finnegan was in attendance at a display of some of the work being done by his company taking place at the Canada Science and Technology Museum a few weeks ago. The most intriguing of which was the nanobot colony. A display that allowed users to interact with several different control methods with which the user could manipulate the little bitty bots. The Heart and Crown at ByWard Market has become the hot spot for celebrations after the Lynx win home games. These bashes are a veritable who's who of celebrities in Ottawa with regular sightings of Dominique Davis, Dawn Askin, Tim Hicks, Sarah Cassandra Chalk, and Jessica Holmes heading into the reserved VIP section. Apparently the latest trend is to take a shot of local maple syrup when our beloved Lynx win a game. Could this be connected to the recent purchase of a certain maple syrup farm? MacBurn is the purported host of these get togethers indicating he's been embraced by the upper echelon of rich and famous locals. We will keep an eye out for A-listers Dan Akryod and Alanis Morissette whom are reported to be attending the end of season party regardless of where the Lynx finish in the standings. Keep an eye out for our follow up article highlighting the outdoorsy adventures of Finnegan MacBurn with individuals with significant political clout in and around Ottawa. -Molly O'Brian
  9. Finnegan MacBurn had enough of the tough play and gets heated enough to take his first roughing penalty of the season and sees 4 minutes of the box for it.
  10. 1. Favourite NHL team and why? San Jose Sharks. I grew up going to the games. 2. Do you like any other sports other than hockey? I played soccer and rugby in addition to hockey. I really only follow hockey as a fan. 3. Have you ever considered joining a sister league? (SBA, EFL) Not really. I thought about it for the tpe gain and decided it wouldn't be worth it. 4. We've now moved into second place and have had some strong showing's against the top team, how long do you think till we hit #1, or will we not hit it? Not sure I think we may flirt with it but Philly will probably cement themselves before the playoffs start. Winning in the playoffs is what really matters. 5. We're almost half way through the season, for some of you its your first and some its not, do you plan on moving up next year or staying down? I would like to move up. Only because of regression if it wasn't for that I would have liked to stay on the Lynx for another season. Honestly it will be close as to whether I make the tpe or not. 6. 8-1-1 in the past 10 games, what do you think our final record will be? Not sure most likely in the top three. 58-12-2 is my best guess.
  11. Finnegan MacBurn continues to perform better than his season average when facing his former team. Earning a First ? with some beastly dominance right from puck drop.
  12. What a heartbreaker. All those early power play goals in the first paid off for the Reapers. Bernard chased from the net on a bad night.
  13. Leapfrog game. Ottawa takes 2nd place in the standings from Minnesota with this win.
  14. 141 HC Davos Dynamo @ Moscow Menace 142 Toronto Legion @ Malmo Nighthawks 143 Seattle Bears @ Calgary Wranglers 145 Vancouver Wolves @ Helsinki Titans
  15. All that back and forth effort ends with a Dick Rash I'm disappointed
  16. 1. Do you have any long term VHL goals, HOF, championship, well known player? No individual long term stuff yet. I just want to be with a winning organization. 2. How did you come up with your name? A good song for the first name. A play on my favorite NHLers last name. 3. Why do you play your position? It's what I played in real life. Everybody loves a good dman. I figured it would be easier than goalie. I think a scoring winger will be my next build. 4. We recently defeated Minnesota, their only regulation loss, how do you feel about this? I'm very excited about that. A good measuring stick game that belies the fact we can climb to the top of the standings. Or have a strong chance in the playoffs. 5. We currently have 2 players in the top 10 for scoring, do you think this will change during the rest of the season? Sure everything changes. II think we will have more I think Thorny should be close on the points leaders list. 6. Has anybody stood out to you so far, if so who? I enjoy my locker room talk with the keepers. Everybody knew Hawk was good before he came to the team. Zeno, Sage, Grimm have all been great. Amberback has been a really good addition to the team. All the solid depth on defense really helps. In my mind Thorny has really turned it on since getting the C and MacBurn has good chemistry with him which fits my players storyline too so that has to be my choice.
  17. I had major editing issues with the picture sizes and bold headers just plain not working. I will go back at some point to clean it up. I was really nervous about using the interview format I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. I just figured if I was a reviewer what would break the mold enough to get attention, without going outside the lines. I actually cut a bunch out about the volunteer program including quotes from outside sources which I felt muddied it up too much it's cleaner this way. I rewrote the conclusion right before posting, which wasn't a great idea because I was super tired. It's not my best work there. Thank you for your time and feedback. @fonziGG @chillzone
  18. Second period swung the momentum in the Reapers favor and they never looked back. The Lynx just didn't give enough support to help Bernard tonight.
  19. Oh that's how Ottawa can beat Halifax. Peach set the tone with his ejection it was chippy all night a real bruiser of a game. Hawk and Sage with a beauty of a goal get stars because Gunnarsson was on his game stopping 37, slipping it past was no easy feat.
