  1. 1. Definitely scoring, with a little bit of everything else sprinkled in. 2. September 2019. That feels like forever ago lol 3. I mean I am more than fine with the 14 uncapped haha 4. Keep earning steadily, and always make sure you're enjoying doing your point tasks. If it starts to feel like a chore, try to find creative new ways to make content, because it's all about enjoying yourself at the end of the day. Don't let the process of earning TPE become stale and monotonous. 5. Acquiring Dan Dan was huge for our team. 6. Over the pad, under the blocker.
  2. Hello folks, welcome back to Talli Talk. This is a casual series where I rant about certain things that are currently on my mind. This week, I’m gonna talk about a part of my VHL experience that I have just finished. What I’m referring to is my TPE Earning spreadsheet. I tracked every draft class’ TPE earning from week to week, colour coding their weekly totals and dividing capped and uncapped TPE. I have updated this spreadsheet every single week since late 2019, and now I’m finally shutting it down after stepping down as Calgary AGM. This was my main scouting resource, and one that I would gladly teach anyone else how to replicate. It allowed me to find some diamonds in the rough in the latter half of the draft, as its layout made it easy to find the BPA - and not just by order of TPE. You can check it out here, although it hasn’t been updated for a little while now. If you want me to show you how to make something like it to help with your scouting, just message me here or on discord. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3UmjHIkmoBNTRdw8dgQdp4kOVhVLVRgPADZOndKJUY/edit
  3. 1. Working on contributing more offensively. 2. Nice to see them win their first ever cup. Certainly a special moment for the team. 3. I watched the UFC event recently. Unfortunate ending in the main event, but it was a fun watch. 4. His present is my presence lol 5. Definitely BPA at that stage in the draft. 6. 43-26-3, 3rd in the division. Just a wild guess though I haven’t really kept up with the other teams rosters lately haha
  4. Would love to be manager again! I’m in
  5. Hey guys, I had a pretty aimless and spontaneous VHL.com article last week and I enjoyed making it. As a result, I figured that I'd make it a series. This week, my plans are to just talk about my experience in VHL scouting. To me, scouting is the most fun part of the VHL (other than the community interaction and social aspect of it). It's so continuously interesting to prepare yourself for a draft and decide how your list goes, and then check for patterns in your mistakes afterwards. After nearly two years in the VHL, there's a lot of monotony if that makes sense. Same type of point tasks every week, and it can get a bit repetitive. With scouting, I'm always trying to find holes in my process and improve from season to season. I had a bit of a debate with myself on whether I'd like to be a GM one day, and ultimately I said no; That's why I stepped down in Calgary. The position of VHL AGM is a valuable stepping stone for aspiring GMs to one day run a team, and I wouldn't want to take that opportunity away from someone if I had no plans of moving up the ladder. The reason I wouldn't want to be a GM is that I'm a scout at heart. I'm decent enough with contracts, trades, and LR activity, but I just don't have the same jump in my step with those aspects of GMing. Anyways, that's about it for this week. Next week I'll find something else to talk about and then I'll post a similar article to this one.
  6. This is just an issue that I’ve been thinking about since creating Nils. I understand why the two-way forward award is the way it is, but it is a little disappointing as someone who doesn’t plan to be a huge power forward. With Nils, I am aiming to make a Bergeron type player, so I will prioritize DF, PH, FO and ST a bit more than most players. While these stats should help defensively in STHS, there is still not much to prove that as a fact. If I wanted to be the VHL’s top two-way forward, I would need to get my checking up to 80 and spend a ton of time in the box. I get that hits are a sign of takeaways, so it makes sense to a degree. However, I think stuff like PK time and faceoff percentage should be factored in a bit more as well, since the award is basically top power forward as it stands. However, that would be changing the precedent that has been kept up for so many seasons, so I understand why that wouldn’t be an easy change to make. Anyway, individual awards aren’t a huge deal to me so I won’t complain. I’ll always be the #1 defensive forward in my heart lol
  7. I absolutely love the text in this graphic. The effects all work really well together, and I think it is very cohesive as a whole. My only thing is that the white vignette effect is a little bit too strong imo, but it's not overly noticeable. Overall, 9/10!
  8. There's a lot going on here, but you've really managed to make every aspect of this graphic count. Everything adds something to the concept, especially the symbols on the bottom that build further on the idea of Mitchell being a beast on the ice. Like this a lot, so 9/10!
  9. WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CALGARY WRANGLER Every VHL team in today’s world is truly fantastic. With a batch of dedicated and approachable general managers, as well as a prospering league full of joyous and excitable players, there are no longer any “unlucky destinations” for your player. Every team has their own culture, and soon the VHLE will create an entire new generation of team dynamics in this community. But today, we are not here to talk about the newest teams in this league, we’re here to discuss one of the oldest — the Calgary Wranglers. I have been a part of this team since S75, and it has been such a privilege. Here’s why: Engaged, Hard-Working Management It all starts at the top. @Jubis completely shifted the damaged reputation of the team back on the right track, and then passed on the torch to @Ricer13, who has made many adjustments to improve user engagement. Both have played instrumental roles in what it now means to be a Wrangler, and not only does the team have to thank them for that; The league also has these two to thank for turning this ship around. Jubis was an electric GM with a passion to see the team succeed, and he made numerous bold moves that put Calgary in a contending position just about every season. And we can’t forget his seasonal stats prediction articles. Ricer made upgrades to the locker room that have turned it into somewhat of a VHL utopia, and his team awards at the end of the season are always a fun read as well. Of course we can’t forget the AGMs here either. When I first arrived, @LatinViking was the AGM, and he was doing a great job as a presence in the locker room and as a strategist alongside Jubis. He unfortunately had to quit the VHL for personal reasons, and if he happens to ever see this, I hope he’s doing well. The honours were then passed on to me, and I’d like to think I did a pretty good job as AGM. I am currently working with our new hire, @Greg_Di, to help him thrive in his new role. I can already see his eagerness to help and how he is willing to take on any task that is needed from him. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that my words of (somewhat) wisdom can help you when you fully take over. A Room Full Of Amazing People The Wranglers are a family. Whether we’re finding conversation through a skillful graphic or the NHL games that were on that night, our bond as a collective is always growing. Everyone is very accepting to newcomers, and anyone is welcome to come for a chat in the server's general area. With the people that comprise this team, I could not be prouder to call myself a Wrangler. Consistent Content About The Team Like I previously mentioned, Ricer has a seasonal team awards show, which everyone thoroughly enjoys. On top of that, @Jtv123 has continued Jubis’ stats prediction series. A few of us do player graphics here and there, and they’re frequently Calgary players. Also, Greg_Di regularly releases content about his perspective on the team and his career. There is much more that I could shout out, but I think I’ve made my point quite clear. Safe to say, you can almost always find something about the team or even your player. To Conclude... Being a Wrangler is great. That’s about it from me, thanks for reading.
  10. 1. Seattle probably, but Chicago has been the new villain the past few seasons. 2. Unfortunately we didn't, but I think we could definitely finish the season strong with 4 or 5 more wins. 3. Probably you or Ricer because your content is often about the team. 4. Definitely not, but I'm not worried about it. My time will come, so no use in being impatient with individual results. 5. I'm picking Thornton. 6. Nils is the last Tallinder, and my next player will have a different name.
  11. Review: I really like this concept and you executed it well. The stats are layed out very nicely, and the B&W player fits in well. Only thing I would change is the title's font to something a bit more intense, and make the font for the points identical to each other. Overall it looks awesome, and I'll give it a 8/10!
  12. Review: This is truly a fantastic logo concept. I love the attitude of the mink, and the mirrored skyline looks great. I'm personally not a big fan of the drip effect purely because I have trouble seeing that printed on a jersey, but that's the only citique I can make. 8.5/10!
  13. 1. We need consistent scoring up and down the lineup, especially with the added depth from this season’s trades. 2. Ask Ricer why he drafted that bust Nils Tallinder 1st overall! 3. I usually like Bauer Supreme or CCM Tacks stuff. 4. We’re right in the thick of the playoff race, so I know that every game could be the difference between making it and not. 5. I’d like to imagine Askarov or Clapbombs using a mini sticks blocker and trapper, so I’ll say one of the goalies has the smallest hands. 6. The Michigan lol - could you imagine a 6 year old kid doing that when the other kids can’t lift the puck
  14. Review: This is fantastic work. The jersey swaps are clean, and the smudging effect toward the bottom of the players makes a seamless transition into the bottom text. I really like how the text of the logo is in front of the renders, but the symbol is behind them. It all comes together extremely well, and I applaud you with a solid 10/10 good sir!
  15. Review: I really enjoy the sparkling effect in this graphic, and I feel like it adds a ton to it. I think the masking and resolution of the renders could use some work, but there are a lot of good concepts here. The logo swaps were well done too, so I would overall give this a 7/10!
