  4. 1) Well, though my pedigree is solid, I was not sure that moving on to this level was for me. I'm glad I have found a place I can grow slowly. 2) Quite a few actually. I was surprised a new player to the league would be as well recruited as I was. I visited a locker room other than my final choice. 3) I had played with a couple fo the guys in the Juniors. This connection meant a lot, so i decided to follow them to Vegas. 4) well for starters, i dont drink, and i dont gamble, so that cuts down on some big ones. I also have a solid girl, who moved here with me, so I think I'm pretty set. 5) Coach has been super helpful. shoutout to @Matt_O!
  5. 0225 Sports had the chance this week to catch the Aces newest signee as he left the ice after his first practice with the team. Steve Blackmoon was on site for the exchange. SB: Kevin, you were not in the draft this year, what led you to delay your entry into the league? KR: Honestly, my paperwork wasn't in order. It's not something I'm proud of, it's embarrassing to be honest, but I had let my Canadian passport expire, and that was going to be an issue. It was my fault, one hundred percent. SB: How has it worked out for you so far? KR: I think I found a good landing spot in Vegas. It's pretty warm here, and its new to be in such a fast city. It's probably best that I'm too busy to leave the facility too often. I'm just trying to catch up to the other guys and the rigors of the Minors. But as far as having options, it was honestly amazing to be able to select my destination. I don't think many guys get to do that at my age, and I'm grateful I didn't have to wait out the season. SB: What do you see as your role with the team, now that you signed here? KR: I'm just here to learn the game at this level. It's been amazing to come from skating on the lake across the road, back in Minnesota, to Vegas. It's exciting, and I'm just trying to find a way to get out on the sheet. -Courtesy 0225 Sports
  6. 1) Wait, what? you were drafted twice? 2) How are you doing? Is everything on the mend? Have you been able to take off the dark glasses yet? 3) Is playing for an expansion team something you can hang your hat on? 4) How will your previous experience translate to your new home? Will you have to learn anything new to be effective? 5) Do you think that the embedded multiple question lines give you enough freedom to make choices about how to answer? We don't want the media to seem too intimidating.
  7. made this when i joined the aces locker room. it took a while, i can show you the 5 previous versions if you need proof of effort:
  8. 1. I only joined the eligible player pool after the draft. I am excited to have been able to field offers from the various teams in the league. It has helped me get a feel for some of the camaraderie around here. 2. "If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man. You win some, lose some it's all the same to me!" -RIP Lemmy pick a different verse to get fired up between periods 7. I grew up with a rink in the backyard, like a lot of kids. Dad worked maintenance for the civic in Walker, so when we had real games, i could go early, and stay as late as I wanted. Dad was all for it. 8. A smart defender. I'm not he biggest guy, or the fastest, or the strongest, but i like to think I get to the right spots on the sheet when i need to make things happen. 9. Smell the air. It's so different than the last few stops Ive had in Wabasha, Owatonna, Bannf, you name it. This place is so warm. I wont be moving any of my winter stuff here. 10. My dad was a recovering alcoholic, and i never really got into drinking myself. I think im gonna go with the gold medalists and say Milk. Thanks for the opportunity to play with the Aces. I look forward to showing my skills off in the desert and being a part of something special.
