If I get 6/6 on MS + something good on Pick'em and predict the score. That's 10 in total so 98, should hit 100 by next week

Harumpf Finding Taller VHLM Players a Challenge

Little Oskars Harumpf, all 5 foot 5 inches of him has now played 14 games in the VHL. It's been a tough road for the diminutive playmaker as he only has 3 points so far. Even more surprising is those 3 points are all goals. Being known as a playmaker throughout his career, it's very shocking that Harumpf has not been able to even get a secondary assist in 14 games. The Saskatoon Wild have been playing well and giving him good ice time, but he has yet to find his groove.

Harumpf has averaged 18 minutes of ice time in his first 14 games and has 14 powerplay minutes as well as over 40 penalty killing minutes. He's managed 2 of his 3 goals on the powerplay, so he's making the most of his time with the man-advantage. He's also only taken 12 shots on the season, so 3 goals has him shooting at a 25% rate, which is pretty good. In his 14 games, he also has 14 hits and 8 pims to go along with a face off winning percentage of just over 40%. Not bad numbers, but none of these statistics really jump out at you and imply that Harumpf is on his way to becoming a dominant player in the VHLM.

It's entirely possible that Harumpf's height is making it tough for him to compete against bigger and stronger players. He is only 5'5" but the fact that he weighs 250 pounds was thought to even the playing field. It's possible that his diminutive size may be a bigger short-coming that most scouts thought it would. That being said, Harumpf is working hard to improve and his team is winning games, which is all that really matters at this point. Oskars Harumpf has lots of time to improve on the score sheet and with continued dedication to improving both on and off the ice, we'd give him a better than average chance to achieve his goals. It'd be nice to see him get a few assists though as he's a true playmaker, but if he keeps working at it the points will come.

The Saskatoon management group has been very supportive of Harumpf since he joined the league. They immediately recognized his hard work and rewarded him by moving him up to the 2nd line center position. Harumpf had a couple decent games as the number 2 center, but his lack of production has now seen him moved back down the line 3 center position. Still an important line that can help the team win with depth scoring, Harumpf will look to help the 3rd line be productive over the next set of games. Perhaps with a few more points and hard work in practice, Harumpf can once again get back up to 2nd line center. Hopefully Harumpf has his game clicking by the time playoffs come around. He's the kind of player that can sneakily surprise teams in the post-season as more attention will obviously be paid to Saskatoon's top scorers. Little Harumpf could find his niche in the playoffs and make a big difference for the Saskatoon Wild down the stretch.

    Welcome to VHLM This Week.

This is a brand new segment where every Sunday I'll be doing an overview of how to get your TPE over the next week, as sometimes things change or are adjusted, any big announcements that effect us in the VHLM, and any trades and waiver signings. We'll also go over some big games in the league and I'll show you some media and graphics or sigs that I think are neat. We'll also try to cover some players, either through an interview or a quick scouting report or season recap. I'm always looking for people to interview or review, so feel free to throw your name into the ring!

The entire point of this is to try and bring everything together in one place so you can see what happened around the league and what's happening in the near future, and to check out some of your fellow VHLMers and what fun and cool ideas they have when it comes to their media and graphics. I won't hold you up with an introduction anymore, let's dive into the fun!

    TPE Earners
First up, let's review the less known ways or ways that are currently modified due to events this coming week to earn TPE.
These two we're going to group under one as right now they're modified by the recruitment drive.
    a) First off, if you post in any other forums, any at all, you should post this .gif in your signature there. If you do that, until the end of this recruitment drive you will get +2 TPE (normally +1). You can do this with as many forums as you want, but only one forum a week will count.
b.) The player store is not normally an option for VHLM players as we don't draw a salary. Right now because of the recruitment drive, if you created in the month of August, you get a free $3 million to spend in the player store. There are 2 ways I would spend the money given to you. You can either buy a free week, or you could buy the +1 to Welfare and 2 extra weekly Fan590s.
A free week means you get a week off from doing the PT but you still receive +6 TPE, you simply just claim the purchase in your updates thread with a link to the player store. The other option where you bundle welfare and the Fan590s is one I would recommend if you don't feel you'll be able to devote a lot of time to the league but still want to gain TPE. +3 Welfare for a new player and +2 extra TPE from the Fan590s can be beneficial if you don't have the time to do PTs every week.
*Purchases made from the player store can only be used once. You cannot buy a free week and then use it more then once.*

Check out the Fantasy Zone. There are two zones, the VHLM version and the VHL version.
*Anyone can join the VHL fantasy zone, only VHLMers can join the VHLM zone. So go on and jump into both to try and double your gains!*
Most weeks both zones will only have 2 options for you. a) Pick 'em. You are given 4 games and you choose the winners of those 4 games. If you choose correctly and all 4 teams you chose are winners, you are awarded +1 TPE. b.) Predict the score. You are given 1 game and you must choose the winner and the final score. If you are right, you get awarded +3 TPE.

Sometimes the fantasy zones will have leagues or tournaments on. This week there's a new football fantasy league that's been put together. The league will award TPE to where you finish in terms of the league so even if you don't think you'd do well, join and make some new friends or rivals and learn about something you may not have known much about before.

As we head onto announcements, I just realized there is another way to get your TPE!

    Announcements
The VHL has their Instagram account up and running. Just for following with your account, you get +1 TPE. Simply follow them and then post in the thread. There's also a two PT opportunities you can take a look at in the thread. Good to see social media expanding for the league.

The August recruitment drive is halfway over now, but if you haven't see the details on it take a look. It's a great way to pad your TPE and help the VHL grow, as any recruiting bonuses double. If you recruit someone and they hit 100 TPE on their character, you get 5 just for having brought them to the league. If you recruit someone now, that 5 TPE bonus turns to 10! They also have a bunch of really cool prizes, again, just for having recruited someone to the league. Check the page out to see what cool prizes you could win.

Smarch recently posted up the S39 VHLM Achievement Tracker. The long and short of it it's another way to earn some TPE by being awarded points for how well your player did during the season. This is another reason to keep your TPE going so you rack up the points during the season. The cap for the TPE gained from this is +20 TPE.

Ok, enough of the boring TPE gaining and announcements!

    Media
Here are some media spots and Fan590s I was looking at I thought you guys might find to be funny or a good read.

The first one that caught my eye was a poll taken by Doomsday that found that most people don't think Tic Tacs are a good weapon. Who would've thought. Check out his results at his Fan590.

No homo(rism), but up next is a spot by GM of the Rush announcing their latest addition to the Yukon Rush's HOF. A quick recap on how he shaped Yukon's history. The full stats and overview.

Here we have a new player to the league in Mikko Koskinen. A young Finn he'll be joining us later in the segment for a quick Q&A session, so check out his quick intro.

We love seeing young players getting amped over their accomplishments, and here Oskars Harumpf goes over he notched his first career marker. Maybe you'll have some nostalgia while you read it here.

Heading over to medias, we open up with this funny adventure. If you remember the pick-your-adventure books from your childhood, you'll love what RomanesEuntDomus is doing with his story. While Chapter II was released this week, you have to read it in order, so Chapter I Part I and Chapter I Part II. Our best read of the week.

From our limited experiences with him, he's been an aggressive and outspoken individual. Here he is in his own words explaining what's happening. MF Percy Miller: Setting Shit Straight.

Related to that article we have this one by Kyrie reviewing the struggles of the Moscow Red Wolves as of late. Quick and informative on the situation of the Red Wolves, I'd recommend you read to get a better idea of one of your opponents.

    Graphics
We'll take a quick look at some signatures. These are all made by users and we think these are really well done and recommend you check them out and other submitted sigs on ideas on how to make your own better.

This one by Wastlund we found to be really trippy and almost psychedelic. We like how he used some less then conventional colours to make this sig pop at you when you see it.

The next one by Mr.Baller comes across to us really aggressive with the use of the hard lines and explosive yellows against the greyscale of his player.

Finally, this sig by Molholt is one we found to be almost 3D as his use of greyscale in the background with the shattering around his player makes it look like his player is exploding out of the sig at you. Really well done with the shattering around his player.

    Games
Let's check out how the league is shaping up at the end of this week.
    North American Conference:
    Blades - GP:42 W:36 L:5 OTL:1 P:73 GF:248 GA:141

We'll take a quick look at some of the big scores and conference leader match-ups.
This game ended 8-4 in favour of the Lynx over the Watchmen. Lots of goals scored in this one with the playoff hopeful Lynx taking the 2 points.
A big scoring game with the Rush winning over the Royals 7-6. Rush on the outside looking in picked up the big 2 points in this one.
Another big scoring game between the Royals and Rush, this one ending 9-4 for the Rush, with them picking up another 2 big points.
Conference leaders Blades and Red Wolves faced off for this game where it took a SO to decide it. The Blades picked up the extra point scoring twice in the shootout, winning 3-2.
The two Conference leaders faced off again for this tight affair. The Red Wolves bettered the Blades winning 2-1 with MF Percy Miller picking up the GWG in the third.

    VHLM Player Spotlight
We have a rumour around the water cooler that a touted first-round pick, Thomas O'Malley has been looking at the Cologne Express as his VHL team. Sources say he's been in talks with Cologne's GM and they look to select him in the upcoming draft. We'll update you with any more details as they become available.

We finish off this week with two interviews, one from Mikko Koskinen, a new player in the league, and Cologne Express send-down Kez Kincaid.

We asked Mikko a couple questions about his entrance into the league.

Why did you choose to join the VHL?
I have had a lot of fun in the SHL, and I see the VHL mentioned often there. I have too much free time and hockey has always been one of my past times.

So far what has been your impression of the league?
I really haven't had enough interactions with people here to make a judgement call. I like that people are just as active here as in the SHL. I still am unassigned, and at this point I am prepared to wait until the offseason and the draft. Two players, you and one other, have been very helpful in helping me figure out how to earn TPE and nagivate the site. I like the league (although I think I still like the SHL more ).

What are your feelings about the VHL moving forward?
I plan to stick with it and hopefully join a team and make some new friends.
*He has since been claimed by Brampton as a free agent. We'll follow up with him to see how his experience changes after being on a great club like the Blades.

Our other interview with Kez Kincaid, a Cologne Express prospect who got sent down to the VHLM this week for more conditioning.

How do you feel about being sent down, do you think you deserve to be on the big team?
At first, when coach approached me about going back down, I was a little surprised. I wasn't setting the world on fire, you know, but I had scored a few goals, got a few points, I was a plus player. I didn't think I was a detriment to the team or anything. But, you know, he talked to me and told me the plan was for the team to tank so they could get some better picks, and I was just too good, the team was winning too many games. He said they were expecting me to be awful and really be an anchor, drag the team down, you know, but that wasn't going according to plan since I was showing I could play with the big dogs.
But anyway, after talking, I could see the benefit in going down again and, you know, there's more opportunities to develop in the J, so I might as well take advantage of that and so next year I will be even better.

Do you think you can help Turku right their ship?
Ha-ha! I'm not a miracle worker, man, Turku's in a tough spot, you know, they were pretty competitive the last couple years but this season has not really gone so well. But, you know, I am here and I am going to go out and play my game and do the best I can. I've sort of accepted that the best contribution I can make to the team is to be a trade piece at the deadline, maybe another team is looking for that extra piece to make a run for the cup, and you know, you could do worse than have me on your team! Ha-ha, but, you know, that sort of thing is beyond my control, all I can do is lace em up and put on the jersey they let me wear, right.

Thanks for doing this with us. Do you have anything else to add?
Ok thanks man, not much else to add, just go play hockey and don't stress too hard about things, that's my motto! Cheers mate.

That'll wrap up this week's edition of VHLM This Week. Join us next week for more updates around the league. If you have any comments or requests, or if you want to be interviewed for next week's episode, drop a message here of PM me and we'll fit you in. Thanks, and keep your stick on the ice.

Harumpf got a reaction from Kendrick in Harumpf Scores 1st Career Goal
It was a monumental day on saturday, when Oskars Harumpf scored his 1st career goal in the VHLM. After working hard since joining the league less than a week ago, Harumpf finally got his name in the books with his 1st goal and 1st point. It happened in game #160 vs the Red Wolves on the powerplay. Harumpf was out there with the man advantage due to Tobias Funke being tired, normally Funke is the #2 powerplay center, but Harumpf got his chance and made the most of it. Let's see how the play developed...

it started with a loose puck in the nuetral zone, which Harumpf gathered up and skated into the offensive zone. He passed it off to Kayle Kuzie, who gave it right back to Harumpf who fired a one timer. That was saved by Red Wolves goalie Forever but there was a rebound. Wild's Rick Roll collected it and threw a shot on net that was deflected wide by Braxton Hunter. Then Harumpf sped over to grab the loose puck in the corner, curled out in front of the net at the top of the circle and fired a wrist shot that beat Forever high glove. GOAL!!! Oskars Harumpf (1) from Roll and Braxton on the powerplay. History has been made. Possibly the shortest player to ever score a goal in the VHLM at just 5'5" tall. YAY!

Oskars Harumpf from Middelfart Denmark was recently claimed on waivers by The Saskatoon Wild, we caught up with him and asked how it feels to be joining the VHLM

I'm thrilled that someone put in a claim on me and even happier that it was Sakskatoon. I've heard great things about the city and am really looking forward to playing there. They're suppose to have an awesome fanbase and I can't wait to get into my first game. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates and finding some chemistry on the ice. Saskatoon seems like a good fit for me, I think they can use a playmaking center, which is exactly what I am. I hope to have a good impact in the VHLM over the rest of the season and make a name for myself going into the VHL draft. Hopefully I can play well for the Saskatoon Wild and help them win a championship this season. Really thankful to them for showing faith in a 5'5" guy from Denmark. I can't wait to get started. -Thanks

    The VHLM Process

In this guide, we're going to be covering the VHLM process as a whole. This means we are going to go through everything that may or may not take place from the time right after you create your player, up until the time you graduate to the VHL. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you read our guide on creating a player. So, let's get started!

    Joining a Team
There are two ways for you to get on to a VHLM team: a draft or free agency. You will be entered into the draft no matter what, but if you join during the season you will join a team through free agency and stay with them until the end of the season. That sounds quite confusing so let me break it down and explain it a little easier:

If you join during the season or in the off-season but after the VHLM Draft has taken place: Since you joined after the VHLM Dispersal Draft for that season, you will go through free agency. Free Agency is where VHLM GMs can offer your player a contract to join their team for the remainder of the season, with the money they are offering being available for use in the Player Store. The contract you sign is just for the remainder of the season as whenever you join, you are entered into the next VHLM Draft. Therefore, at the end of the season you joined in, you will potentially be drafted to a new team. Free Agency is simply there to provide you with a team and teammates to have fun with until the next draft.

If you join during the playoffs or in the off-season prior to the VHLM Draft taking place: This is a much simpler scenario. Since you joined during the playoffs or the off-season, chances are the VHLM Draft will be coming up soon. You will be entered into it, and subsequently picked a team. Thats it!

After you are on a team, regardless of what team that may be, you will receive an invite to join your teams club. Clubs are hidden forums that only members of your team, as well as your GM, can view.

    Improving and Updating Your Player
The whole point of the VHLM is for you to develop your player before moving onto the VHL. The VHLM has more options for earning TPE than the VHL, again, to allow you to develop before moving onto the VHL. To avoid typing more than I have to, see eaglesfan's "How to get started" topics. He has the long version and the short version. He outlines all the ways to earn TPE and, once you've earned some TPE, you can check Will's guide on How to Update your Player which will show you how to use your TPE to improve your player's attributes. It's important to note that, as a new member with no carryover TPE, you are entitled to start your player with 30 TPE. This can be placed in your attributes however you like.

Note: If you are not a new member, and have less than 30 carryover TPE as per the carryover guidelines, you may contact a commissioner to elect to have your player begin with 30 TPE instead of the carryover amount.

    Clubs
Every single team in the Victory Hockey League has a club, whether they are a VHL team or a VHLM team. A club is simply a hidden forum that only you, your fellow teammates, commissioners, and your general manager has access too. These forums allow teams to have private conversations whether its strategizing or just general discussion. It's important to have good relationships with your teammates and locker rooms are very helpful to developing them. You can find all the locker rooms you have access to at the very bottom of the main forum index. If you are drafted by a VHL team but still play in the VHLM, you may have access to multiple locker rooms. Alternatively, some teams have decided to host their locker room in their own Discord server. Check with your GMs and see what kind of locker room his team has.

Viewing Games and Tracking Your Player
Viewing games on the VHL is simple. Each day, games are posted in the game discussion forums. Obviously, you would click on the most recent season. From there, each topic is a game. So, for example, if you play on the Storm you would look for a topic that says something like "GM 134: Rush vs Storm". Once you click on that, you will see a link. Simply click that link and it will take you to the game results. There you can see all kinds of stats, plus the lines, play-by-play, etc.

To track your players individual stats, see this guide.

    VHL Draft
I mentioned earlier that when you join, you are automatically placed in the next VHLM Draft. Well, you are also placed in a VHL Draft. Which draft you are entered into depends on when you join. If you join before the trade deadline, you will be placed in the next VHL Entry Draft. If you join after the trade deadline, you will be placed in the draft after the next. Sounds a little confusing but its really very simple.

If you join after the trade deadline, you won't really have time to grow your player. Therefore GMs won't know what your all about. So, you will be in the draft after the next so that you can develop your player and get to know the league better.

It's important to mention that when you are drafted, in doesn't necessarily mean you will be in the VHL. If you are still developing, you may end up playing extra seasons in the minors. I will explain this further in the next section.

    VHLM TPE Cap
Since the VHLM is a developmental league, a TPE cap is in place to force people to graduate to the VHL in due time. The TPE Cap is as follows:

    - You can at no point update your attributes above 250 TPE, any TPE over 250 must be banked until you reach the VHL.
    - If a player is over this amount (250 TPE) at the beginning of the season they will not be deemed eligible to play in the VHLM.
    - You are allowed to exceed the 250 TPE threshold mid-season, so long as all TPE after 250 is banked.

    Conclusion
So, that's pretty much it! That should cover pretty much all of your VHLM career. As a new member, this may be a bit overwhelming and potentially very confusing. Fear not, there are plenty of VHL members will to answer any questions you may have. Specifically, it is part of VHLM GMs jobs to help and guide new members. Here is a list of all VHLM GMs, as well as the leagues commissioners.
