    2. I wish I could have more minutes to help the team, but im satisfied with my production.

    4. I literally don't care, I'm just here because the coach told me to be. And I want that thicccc 2 TPE.
    5. Its going alright, getting kind of boring to be honest.

    Hello VHL @Members,

Today is an auspicious occasion, my birthday! As your benevolent leader, I am allowing all members to claim 1 Uncapped TPE, and all you've got to do is post something nice about me! Or don't, I'm not your mother. Point is, I'm giving everyone 1 free TPE, to be claimed by the end of this week.

    Enjoy!

Just for @DMaximus: To claim, claim as Uncapped > Other > Other, with the description "Quik is a benevolent god!"

    1. I have no idea. I have an addiction to checking sim results. Luckily it only takes me a few minutes per day haha.
    2. Im a big fan of @Alex Bridges and @Ferda . They've been lighting it up this year and i have no doubt they can make the transition to the big league. I also think @PadStack could be a huge part of the team in a couple of years. Also I can't leave @Lockdown Defense out of the conversation. His growth from last season to this season has been really nice to see. He could definitely help out our back end for years to come.
    3. Not really to be honest. I was kinda hoping DC would take down Seattle, because I still have a few friends over there, but it just wasn't meant to be.
    4. Definitely @Enorama, that guy is nothing but trouble over there.
    5. I really wasn't listening to be honest. All I remember him saying as that he found a new use for mustard.
    6. I am content with everything right now. You're doing a good job, and I really like the direction this team is heading.

    1. Im a little late on this one, but if you would have asked me before I would have said we would have had it.
    2. Its got to be the comeback we made this year. We didn't get out to the strongest start but we brought it back and positioned ourselves nicely.
    3. Yeah, thats pretty crazy. I guess props to those gm's. They obviously know what they're doing.
    4. It's hard to bet against them as always. I'd favor them to take it home at this point.
    5. I would try and grab a young goalie who could blossom into a star for us. Might be hard to find but I believe in the management team here.
    6. As nice as personal success is and feels, nothing beats team success.

When I think of the words “Future great” or “Hall of famer” there’s no other person that comes to my mind than my VHLM teammate and long time friend Derek Eriksson. The man always had a gift when it came to hockey. From the time we were kids up until now, he always had presence on the ice.

    His background:
As some of you may know already, Derek also comes from a background riddled with tragedy. Losing his parents at a young age, it thrust him into a depression that almost stopped him from playing hockey permanently. Luckily for both the Reapers and I, this period of depression wouldn’t be permanent. He decided to give hockey one last shot and in doing so, found a spark when playing that he never experienced before. I firmly believe this passion, intensity and grit that he plays the game with is the reason why he will eventually make it into the VHL hall of fame.

    His Reapers Debut
In our first season playing together on the Reapers, he ended up signing 10 games into the season. It didn’t matter though, because even with the missed playing time, he still made a very strong impression and caught the eyes of several VHL teams. He went on to finish his rookie season with a solid 19 goals, 36 assists for a total of 55 points and a +/- of +18. What I don’t think anyone could have predicted is how strong of a precedent this would be for his performance the next season, as well as how much he would end up improving during the off season.

From Draft Prospect to Draft Steal?
Even with a performance like that, it’s no surprise he would go early into the VHL draft, getting drafted by the D.C. Dragons under the management of GM Enorama, and possibly making himself a candidate for steal of the draft. I’m sure all the other teams that opted to pass on him are going to realize their mistake once Derek starts adapting to the level of play in the VHL. Either way, the Dragons have scored themselves an insanely talented prospect.

    Making his Mark
This new found success wouldn’t stop Derek from keeping his eyes on the prize though, as he would improve by leaps and bounds going into S70 in the VHLM. He would go on to finish with some pretty mind boggling stats including 48 goals, 50 assists for a total of 98 points, and a +/- of +68. I don’t think any of us could have predicted how fast Derek would improve, and how much of a mark he would leave on both the VHLM and on the Reapers organization.

    An Uncertain Future
I’ve heard rumours that he may be looking to stay down in the VHLM for another season, but I think he’d only doing himself a disservice by doing this. Derek has the work ethic every GM wants, and the raw talent every player dreams of. The combination of these two qualities as well as his performance in the VHLM could help him go far, so far that I think he’ll be a hall of famer.

If Derek can stay focused and perform in the VHL, then I think he’ll be a shoe-in to be inducted on his first ballot.

    Team Canada
    (3-1-0-0, 11 points)

Three wins later, Team Canada is now the best-ranked team in the whole tournament. Kendall Rasmussen, Blacker Velvet and Damien Wolfe both scored twice in the three games to help the true north squad beat Team World 2-1, Team Asia 4-3 in nail-biting overtime and then Team Asia 4-3 again, this time in regulation. The most valuable player of the team so far in the tournament is no one else than Toronto Legion’s top goaltending prospect, Jaxx Hextall, who made it possible for his team to win their three games, despite getting outshot by a combined 141 shots to their mere 102. By allowing only 7 goals in 141 shots, he maintained a crazy .950 save percentage.

    Team United States
    (2-1-0-1, 8 points)

Following a sim where they split games against Team World, Team United States continued to walk through the tournament guns blazing. As per tradition, they once again played against the same team twice, this time beating Team Europe twice by scores of 5-2 and 6-5 in a shootout game. Thomas Landry II led the team - and all skaters in the tournaments - with 4 goals on this day, giving a total 5 goals and 3 assists over the first half of the round-robin. The star of the team, however, both in this sim and the one before that, is the one feeding Landry on most of his goals, playmaker Jaxon Walker, who has totalled 4 goals and a WJC-leading 7 assists in 2 simulations.

    Team Europe
    (1-1-2-2, 7 points)

And now, the other side of this tough back-to-back with Team USA. Team Europe was atop the rankings after a day - mainly because they played more games than any other team - but they’ve been trending downwards since. They actually played thrice in this simulation, losing twice to the United States and once in a shootout to Team World. One of the team’s rays of hope is phenom winger Mikko Lahtinen, who scored the tournament sole hat trick after 11 games played in a 4-point performance against the Americans. Milos Slavik and Will Clarke provided some support for the Finnish winger, scoring respectively 4 and 3 points in 3 games yesterday.

    Team World
    (1-1-0-2, 5 points)

Team World followed on their strong 1-win, 1-loss first day with another similar day, only this time the win didn’t come in regulation. Nicolas Fomba proved once again that he has the untapped potential of a future VHL star, keeping a .952 save percentage through the two games, while Edwin THE Encarnacion and Andrej Petrovic both scored three points. The redeeming factor for Team World, however, is that they played their 4 games against the tournament’s top 3 teams at this point of the tournament, leaving them with one last game against Canada, another one against Europe and two against the winning-less Team Asia.

    Team Asia
    (0-0-2-2, 2 points)

Despite what the rankings suggest, Team Asia actually had two great games in yesterday’s simulation. They lost 4-3 twice to top-ranked Canada, including once in overtime to gain a single point in the standings. They even managed to outshoot their opponents on both occasions, but their offence wasn’t able to outscore Canada’s weapons. Kyl Oferson scored his 2nd and 3rd of the tournament, Derek Eriksson notched his 1st and added 2 assists and both Uhtred and Leon Gutzwiler supported the stars with 2 points during the two losses, but it wasn’t enough to overcome both Bennett Dahl’s sub-900 save percentage performances.

    Good luck to all tomorrow!

    1. I still think Aaltonen gets it done in the end.
    2. I think it wouldn't hurt to bulk up on all our prospects across the board. Best player available in my opinion.
    3. Im not too sure on this one. I like our squad right now, but if we can add a few pieces to propel us into the playoffs it would definitely be worth it.
    4. I'd have to go with Seattle surging up to 5th. Definitely wasn't expecting it after the first few games.
    5. I have no idea. So much talent there. If I had to pick someone i'd go with Borwinn. No real reason, just a hunch.
    6. I don't think I ever got a chance to talk to him sadly.

I love the consistency and stability of having 2 that know what they're doing and can just go out and get'er done. It's important as I am old and I am busy. Tournament is just around the corner.
