  1. the real question is which one is true, if any of them are
  2. Welcome to the start of the best expansion team's press conferences. New questions will be posted every week. (Only have to answer 6 for that sweet 2 tpe) *Week ending July 19* 1. What are your initial thoughts on being drafted to Warsaw? 2. What do you think is a realistic goal for us next SZN? 3. What are some goals you have as a player next SZN? 4. How do you think the draft went for us (either exp or VHL)? 5. What's your go to move in a shootout? 6. Any recommendations to the GM or AGM? 7. Who do you think is gonna be Warsaw's rival in the VHL? 8. Should we intentionally tank to force Muff to eat a pierogie on stream? 9. Can ketchup be considered a "juice?" 10. What's your favourite NHL team?
  3. I'm extremely honoured to have been selected as Warsaw's AGM by Muff. Many people here will and have said that a VHL AGM doesn't do anything, and I can confirm this fact. In the past three days since being hired, I have been non-stop partying. While Muff has been diligently working on his draft boards and plans, I've been barhopping and sightseeing. Don't tell him, but I've already spent the entire team budget on lottery tickets. Once in awhile at 2 am I would get a phone call from Muff asking for advice or feedback, but I would hang up and go back to clubbing. On the night of the draft, I have already hired a stout Brazillian man to pretend to be me. Muff being the absolute idiot he is probably won't even notice, and I'm not even Brazillian. It wouldn't matter anyway since I don't even know how the draft works. Muff can do all the work himself anyways; I'll still be credited. Mark my words in a few years, I'll be known as the greatest AGM ever in the history of the VHL.
  4. Just gonna post some art I do outside of VHL here for fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHpBhYQLR2c (Timelapse)
  5. It is official your VHL season 72 champions are the Riga Reign! To commemorate such a momentous occasion for the team and players, let's look back on their playoff run. Despite being far from the best team on paper, Riga absolutely stomped over the competition this year with an almost perfect 12-1 record, with their only loss to Calgary in the Finals. In the first round, they encountered the HC Davos, a team that had just sped up their rebuild by adding multiple superstars during the trade deadline. The biggest two pieces and superstars of the last couple of seasons that HC Davos got were Jet Jaguar and HHH. That, coupled with the presence of a few veteran players like Garcia and a couple of promising prospects, many expected the series to be competitive at the very least. What happened next was a complete stomping. Of the four-game sweep, Davos was only truly competitive in one. HHH never truly showed up only notching a single goal in 4 games, and the majority of the team were in negative +/-. Even with those that did show up on Davos, their top scorer only had 3 points. This could be accounted for Davos's players not showing up, but it also shows how strong Riga's defence was. Led by the elite duo of Apollo Hackett and Lincoln Tate, Riga's defence is what was able to propel them to become the cup champions. Furthermore, despite not having any superstars on offence, Riga's still had a respectable lineup that could still net points. In the next series, Riga once again swept their opponent, the perennial powerhouse of Moscow. Once again, only one of the games were even remotely close. With their sweep of Moscow, Riga got to enjoy some off time while waiting for the closely fought series between Calgary and New York. When Calgary was the one to move on, many thought it would be a tightly contested battle for the cup. It was the hottest team in the postseason versus the best team of the regular season. The first game was an absolute shocker that had beaten the seemingly unbeatable Riga Reign 3-1. Many thought that Riga would crumble after this loss as they had never experienced defeat or adversity in the postseason yet, but they rebounded stronger than ever. In the following games, Riga won 4 straight outscoring their opponents 16-7. That combined with a one-sided slaughter in game 3, where Riga had a 5-0 shutout showed everyone that Riga was indeed worthy to hoist up the cup. At the end of it all, everyone on Riga showed up for the playoffs and contributed to get the cup win. Leading the team in points with 18 was defenceman Apollo Hacket, closely followed by Lincoln Tate and Kyle Offerson, both with 17 each. For Riga, it wasn't just their top guys scoring, but their depth pieces also. 8 players on Riga scored over 10 points this postseason. All in all congrats to Riga and it's definitely time to party.
  6. When I become overthrow you and become commish you'll be able to.
  7. With the first round of VHL playoffs done and the second round approaching its end, we have one of the most exciting events in sports coming up. The championship round for the cup. We already have Riga patiently waiting for their opponent in the cup finals as they have swept perennial powerhouses Moscow. On the other side, we are currently waiting to see who will come out on top of the 2-2 tied series between New York and Calgary. I favour New York in this match up. Both teams have similar calibre goaltenders and depth, but I believe New York's star power is simply insurmountable. By adding a pure goalscorer in Freeman with a blockbuster trade earlier in the season, New York has a deadly top 3 of Freeman, Acyd, and Jensen. Along with their elite defence led by Flowers and MGS, it is truly a wonder that Calgary has even been able to steal two games away from New York. My prediction is that New York wins the next two straight to meet Riga in the finals. Although, now I probably have jinxed them and Calgary will win the cup.
  8. 1. Get that TPE so I can play more than 15 mins a night on VAN 2. I'm already drafted to VAN, maybe I'll be picked up in the expansion? 3. Yes MIami logo > MInnesota Logo, so they'll win for sure 4. Miami for cup, clean sweep every round 5. My fella John Brewitt, he's got a mean clapper on the ice so he'll definitely have the longest drive 6. Wasn't in the LR much but when I was I mainly saw okifenoki being there
  9. It's never a good look to have a perennial powerhouse not make the playoffs. This year after general manager Beaviss was quoted, "We are contending this season," the Vancouver Wolves have missed the playoffs for the first time in a while. This has to come as a surprise as they had a promising free agency where they picked up both Gritty and Smitty, who although, are past their prime, are still solid pieces for any team. Backed up with their anchors of Freeman and HHH, two of the best players in the league VAN was supposed to be potential cup contenders. They even had some promising developing pieces such as the highly touted Jimmy Spyro, yet they still missed out on playoffs. So what went wrong? The main culprit this year has got to be the lack of discipline. Too many PIMs from too many different players, this was one of the reasons why Freeman was shipped out midseason in a blockbuster trade. Fortunately for the Wolves fans, they have a lot to look forward to as VAN has gathered some of the league's best young talent and many drafts picks in the years to come.
  10. The VHL, I mean everyone, who's ever played hockey in their lives has the dream of playing on one of those rinks. I was no different, just being scouted and being able to play in the VHLM was already a dream come true. Not to mention being an impactful player on the cup winning team. Entering the VHL entry draft, I was expecting to go the top 10 overall for sure. After all, I was the second-best center right after the first overall pick SS-Hornet. Hell, I was so sure I made a meme about retiring right after being drafted. Looking back, that one comment may have cost me my top 10 draft spot. Coming up to the draft, I was starting to get worried as the only two teams that had contacted me were VAN and DAV. Even with that, I was still confident in myself. When I dropped to the second round, I was devastated, but I've been working hard to prove all the GMs who skipped me that they were wrong. So far, it has become a dream come true. Being able to play with legends that I watched on TV when I was younger has got to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. HHH and Smitty both were great mentors while they were still with the team, and I learned a lot from them. I expected to come into the league struggling as the majors are a completely different game than the M, but obviously, I didn't expect myself to have this rough of a rookie season. It was also a shock for me to come out only playing 15 minutes a night, but as a rookie, I guess I shouldn't have expected more. Seeing some of the leaders of the locker room and legends get traded away was also a tough sight personally. I honestly wanted more time to learn from people like HHH, Freeman and Smitty, but unfortunately, the team just wasn't performing. I appreciate the other young guns that came into this team with me and have formed a bond with them after all we had to go through hazing together. But, I sometimes feel like I'm not contributing as much as the other guys. It hasn't helped that the team has gone through a few scandals lately, with Gino being cancelled on all media platforms and Proto announcing him quitting the league. Recently it has become better though, even with some of the mentor figures on the team leaving we've been slowly climbing towards a playoff spot. I've even picked up my game recently with a couple of points in the last 5 games. Overall I'm looking forward to the future I have with VAN and all the other great guys on the team.
  11. 2nd claim for London Logo (June 28th)
  12. 1. It's a good move to start the rebuilding/retooling process for the Lynx after last years cup win. In the VHLM being mediocre will bring you nothing. 2. Yeah, like I said in the M it is hard to be competitive and I think the only way to have a chance for a cup is to sell the season prior. 3. It's gonna be a cup or bust season. Hopefully get to the cup and be top 3 regular season. 4. Crack 15 points in the big leagues. 7. No, there hasn't been any other sim leagues that I want to get into or have the time to do so. 8. Used to run Track and Field a lot before injuries. Snowboarding, skiing, art, honestly anything is pretty chill in my opinion. (except baseball)
  13. I'm back on the constant grind for that full 12 capped TPE, and so I'm back with this random thoughts page. Maybe I should've stayed down another season in the M with my current player, Su. With the season almost done, I've been struggling immensely on the stat sheet, although it has gotten better ever since my minutes have shot up. Vancouver has surprisingly stabilized after trading away all of their star power. This might be because of rookies slowly gaining TPE and becoming playable, but might also be from messing around with lines. Fong apparently has done lines for the past while, and we are currently just sitting 1 point out from a playoff spot. Beav has done some really good stuff with "rebuilding" Vancouver. Not only has he gotten a solid prospect pool, with Gino, Jungkok, Su, Proto and Stallion but he has also been able to stockpile a decent amount of picks for the future. (although the loss of Proto does sting) After my player retires I might not recreate for a while, or if I do it'll be a welfare player. The sims are fun for sure, but the constant grind of TPE does have some burnout, and with Uni coming up I don't know how much time I will have in the future.
  14. Miami Second Oh yeah yeah. Also Mozta about to be shook with MEX first
  15. Sorry if the phrasing makes it seem like I'm saying that. I don't doubt that the BOG/Commishs have alot of GFX experience, but I feel like they're busy people with other league matters to attend to and I'm going off the idea that more feedback from more people = better results. Some people also may give more feedback than others and different feedback on things that others didn't realize before.
  16. To Eli and how you changed the VHL discord in 3 days. Hope you're in a better place now man.
  17. @Motzaburger Thanks, great feedback and questions. 1. I believe for this job we could have the Commishs/BOG choose a group of candidates (10ish?) and then leave it up to the community to have a poll to narrow it down to who the majority thinks is qualified. I would say max this would be 6 people, and min it would be 3. 2. This would def be a job paid per graphic. Since sometimes the league has long periods without anything happening, and sometimes we have a huge event that happens in a short span (Ex. the four team expansion). Feel like the person doing the actual graphic gets more TPE than those doing feedback, (though everyone still gets TPE) since they would be doing more work generally. This is all just hypotheticals (and my opinion), some older members may come up with better ideas since they've been around longer.
  18. With everyone getting somewhat used to the 4 new expansion teams coming out and their logos I think it's a good time to bring this up. As you might or might not know I (Da_Berr) was responsible for two of the logos done (LA + London). Overall I think these two logos had the biggest variance of opinion on them, some loved them, some hated them. With that I suggest we have a GFX/Logo board to have a second look over all official league Logos. Obviously this board would include people that have spent a long time doing either. 1. It would keep the community more in touch. I remember there was a huge thing talking about keeping everyone more involved in decision making, and this would help alot. 2. It would help make sure logos come out the best they can be. I know this is a big issue especially for me (maybe others also), but when I was nearing the end of both LA and London logos I was over them. It wasn't something I was super passionate about and I sped through the final stages. As a result both LA and London Logos were released officially with some major issues. The BOG and Commishs are great about preliminary checks and the concepts shown, but they are busy people and can miss some details. In the LA logo as boubabi said the star outline was too thin and looked like something out of MS Paint. Furthermore Mcwolf (Gm) said that the London logo's bottom outline was way thiner than the rest of the logo. Both of these issues I fixed afterwards (don't know if they've been applied to the official logos yet) but it could have been prevented if we had a group of "pros" that second looked everything. 3. "Leaks" are unlikely. I haven't been here for too long but I honestly think that if the BOG and Commishs told this board "this is secret, don't tell others" leaks would not happen. I might be too optimistic here, but I believe that no-one in this community would purposely leak a secret logo. Also huge shoutout to both boubabi and Mcwolf for pointing out the major flaws and letting me know. Also thank you for everyone who gave constructive criticism on why they did or didn't like the new logos. It's 2 in the morning here and I just finished watching cats, so ignore any spelling mistakes, etc.
