Liam Flaten, Defenceman for the Philadelphia Reapers, is fresh off of a disappointing playoff loss to the Las Vegas Aces. Flaten had 5 points during the playoffs, including a 4 assist game in game 6 to force a game 7. "It was a tough loss for us, we thought we had a great season and great team to make a push this year." Said Flaten following their game 7 loss. Next on the agenda for Flaten is the VHL Draft, where is ranked 23rd overall in the class, and the 8th ranked defenceman in the class. It is rumored that he has been drawing interest from Davos and DC. "My family and I are very excited for this next step in my career. It is a huge testament to the sacrifices that my family has made for me in order to exceed. I am excited to show my talent at the next level." Responded Liam after being asked about the upcoming draft. The Draft will be held on May 16th, where we should see Flaten go somewhere in the 2nd round.

1. There was a lot of pressure, you want to win so bad. I think I put too much pressure on myself to perform and didn;t try to enjoy it as much 2. I thought we played well and competed well, nothing to feel bad about. 3. I thought I got better as we went along, the coaching staff were great in adjusting my game and I really started to improve 4. I think I want Vegas to win, It would be nice to be eliminated by the team that won it all 5. Take a hottub at my parents place and visit with them 6. Terrible idea, they definity wouldnt be able to skate hahaha

The last time the Reapers faced off against Ottawa, things got a little nasty. A line brawl broke out at 8:30 of the 2nd period. It started with none other than Joe Exotic laying a beat down on Richard Pennison after he insulted one of Joe's tigers. Richard was ejected from the game, for his own safety after Joe threatened to release his Tiger's on him. Teammates Liam Flaten and Bob Helminen also got into the action by dropping gloves with Adam Syreck and Big Chungus respectively. "You have to stick up for your teammates, and there was a lot of tension in this game. It really felt like a playoff atmosphere," Said Liam Flaten post game. "If you go and disrespect me or my Tigers, I will go after you for life. Just look at the battle between me and Carol Baskin. I will never let up and I will be relentless. Look out Richard, I'm coming for you," Said a furious Joe Exotic after the game. The Reapers and Ottawa will face off in a rematch 2 days from now, and everyone is anticipating the result from this game.

1) It’s been an intense season so far. How are you holding up? Any injuries? 2) Prediction time. Who do you think will win the World Juniors? How come? 3) Who do you think will win the VHL? How come? 4) Thanks to much smaller ear buds you can now listen to music during the game. Are you listening to anything? If so, what? Do you think this helps you out on the ice? 5) Due to COVID-19, sports now have to merge. What sport would you like to merge with hockey? How would the new sport play out? 6) Our equipment cleaner workers were deemed non-essential so there’s no one to clean your jerseys or equipment. How is your equipment holding up? Do you do anything special to take care of it? 1) I'm holding up fine, this time of year everybody's got little things that are bothering them, but it is just part of the game. 2) Canada, but I'm a little bias. 3) Vancouver, they got a great squad, but then again I grew up a big Vancouver fan 4) I don't wear them, I don't want to get distracted by little things, gotta keep my focus on the game. 5) If we could somehow merge hockey and lacrosse somehow that would be amazing. Not sure how it would work, but it could be epic 6) I like to think of myself as a bit of a homebody, so I'm pretty good with washing my stuff and keeping it clean.

The VHL is an exciting and immersive experience unlike any other. The ability to create a player and watch them progress as you get deeper into the community is so much fun. The camaraderie that you build among your teammates and the rest of the community is spectacular. I was really drawn in by how different it is. I had never seen anything like this before and it really captivated me. I find it so fun to see how my player and team do each game and watching them grow. It is so immersive and I love it. I am eager to earn TPE for my player so that he gets better, and seeing the effort that others put into the league to make it better is so inspiring. So cool to see how the community comes together to help grow that league and really make it exciting. The fact that we do drafts, and World Jr. Championships is so exciting and it gives you something to play for and to look to achieve. Here are my thoughts on how to enhance the experience even more for new players: 1. STREAMLINE TUTORIAL: I think one of the main things that turn people away is understanding how TPE works, and how you claim it. When I first joined I was very confused by all of this. Something that may help new player become familiar with it is if we could create a bit of a streamline tutorial for them to work through when they first join. The tutorial can have step by step tasks that teach new players the basics and completion of the task can result in TPE. This gives them a reward to work towards as well as teaching them what the VHL is all about. However for this to be effective it needs to be simple and easy to follow and all in one place, so they don't get lost and just give up. I believe this would really enhance the experience for new players. 2. EXPANDED SHOP: This one is a simple addition that could add a lot more. Adding new things to buy from the shop, such as more bulk TPE options could be really fun. 3. USING SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS: I'm not sure if we are recruiting on platforms such as instagram, twitter or facebook, but if we aren't I think it could be a really good way to recruit other people. There are so many people on those platforms for hours and I'm sure we would see our recruitment numbers go up exponentially. There are lots of ways to promote your page and get people to see what we are recruiting for. We could also use things like twitter for the actual league itself. With insiders that break new sports news about our teams, and GM's that run their own team accounts. I think it would just be a fun way to add more life to the league. It could even be a new job for people in the VHL: Media Director. If someone comes across it, it could peak their interest and end up recruiting someone too! Hope this helps! 527 words (Theme Week)

On April 13th, 2020, the Reapers lost a big game against the Ottawa Lynx 8-3. However, the month of April have seen the Reapers go on a impressive run of hockey, but have been fighting to catch up to the Ottawa Lynx. They are nine points back of the Lynx for the top spot in the VHLM. The Reapers currently stand in fourth, but have games in hand against Minnesota and Yukon, whoo are above them in the standings. The players morale though has been noted to be increasingly growing. The addition of the "Tiger King", Joe Exotic has proved to be a great addition to the team. "He has brought a unique personality into our locker room, and has really brought us together," said Liam Flaten, a defenceman for the Reapers. Star Bud Knight, who has 64 points in 40 games, has been playing in excellent form of late which has also inspired a confidence among the team. "Whenever you see one of your teammates tearing it up, it is always fun to watch," said Bob Helminen who has been the teams leading scorer so far this season. GM DMaximus is confident that the team he built has the ability to succeed in the playoffs, and to go on a big winning streak to catch up to the Ottawa Lynx for first place, "The most important thing for us is that we compete well in the playoffs and win the championship, but it has been fun to watch the boys playing well and I think we could make a push here for the league lead." The Reapers bounced back from the 8-3 loss, buy defeating Mississauga 6-5, and they look to pile on the wins with games against Las Vegas, and a rematch against Ottawa tomorrow.

1. I think we have just been finding our game, and sticking to our gameplan. The boys have been flying and it’s been fun 2. It was a big adjustment at first, and I felt a bit behind, but I feel like I’ve been getting my skates under now and feeling good! 3. If we keep winning and just focus on our team, I’m sure we can catch them, but we don’t want to lose focus 4. Arms crossed with my game face, no props for me haha 5. Super speed skating 6. Weight for sure!
