  3. A short interview I did with Joromir Jogr through Skype: Hi Joromir, how has the life been in the US so far? - Hey man, it's nice to chat with you again. I've been enjoying US so far, people here are very friendly and the food is awesome. I've gained like 8kg! Thats uhmm....great I guess? - Yes, I'm transforming this weight into muscles. You know, I want to be bigger so nobody has a chance of getting the puck away from me. Oh I see. Sounds good. You've been playing very good hockey in the past weeks you've been here. 10 goals and 14 assists in 22 games. How do you feel? - Points are points. I don't really care about points. I only care about winning. But I think that if I score more points it really helps at getting wins. You're right. If you keep performing at that level then I'm pretty sure that we'll see Ottawa having a long run. - That's what I'm hoping too. I think we have a good atmosphere in the team and we all enjoy playing here so I don't see any obstacles on our way. That's good to hear. And you can really see that on ice too. You are playing very well together. - Thank you. I was kind of hoping to hear that. *laughs* Do you miss Czech Republic? - Well, I didn't miss it until I wrote an article about my off-day schedule to VHLforums earlier today. I talked about food here in the States and started to miss my mother's boar stew. Best food ever. I you ever visit Czech when I'm on vacation, don't hesitate to call me. We'll have some stew together. Thank you very much for the invitation, If I'm there, I'll let you know for sure. Is there anything else you want to say? - Not really. Thanks for the interview and see you in the game. I'm going to dedicate my next goal to the boar stew. Thanks Jogr. Good luck! And there goes Jogr. We'll see what plans the future has for him. Stay tuned.
  4. Hello everyone! It's Joromir here. I was asked to do a little story about my usual off-day routine. I used to do very different routine every day when I was living in Czech Republic, but things have changed a lot here in the United States. When I was still playing in Czech Republic like ages ago (to be honest I've been in United States for 3 weeks now) I used to eat so much less than nowadays. It was pretty weird at first but man, I really like the food here. Nothing beats my mother's home-made boar stew though. Oh, how I miss that stew, I wish the season was already over so I could go back home and eat that delicious stew all day! Okay I think I have to get back to the topic. So here we go, my usual day routine here in the States. Wake up at 6 - 7 a.m. - Gladly I've always been a morning person so this is not an issue for me. Usually I get up at 6 but sometimes I just got to get that extra hour of sleep. Mostly it's the night after a game. Except if I had a bad game, then it's 6 and not even a minute over. I usually take a morning jog after waking up. Sometimes I do some yoga instead of jogging, it's really great stuff. Anyways, it's jog/yoga every morning and then I'll take a small breakfast break. I've been having a traditional english breakfast every morning for like 5 years now. With double bacon. I'm pretty sure that's why I've succeeded in hockey. I remember once I had an oatmeal for breakfast and i was 0+0 -2 in the game that night and it was just the 1st period. I also got a game misconduct in the end of the 1st period . I don't wanna talk about it. I'm not gonna eat that trash never again! Or maybe oatmeal with double bacon? After breakfast I hit the gym. In the gym I do gym moves. After gym I take a sauna break. In the sauna I do sauna moves. As known as, sitting. Usually it's like 30 minutes of super intensive gym moves and 60 minutes in sauna doing super relaxing sauna moves. Feeling pretty slacky afterwards. Sauna was so super intensive that I had to recover myself from it somehow. The clock is somewhere near 11 a.m. after all this madness and just to be honest here; I don't feel like doing anything else for the rest of the day. Usually i just fire up my Playstation and play some Fartnite with Potrik Loine. Potrik sucks in Fartnite by the way. Sometimes I just game for the rest of the day and even forget to eat until it's really late but usually I manage to order a pizza to keep myself fed so I have energy left for gaming. It's a shame that couple of my "Playstation buddies" are in different teams so my schedules don't match theirs. If something that unfortunate happens, I just call my teammates and then we usually do a multi-course dinner at some luxus restaurant. It costs a lot, but why not? After all, we gotta keep ourselves fed. In the evenings I usually just relax and try to go sleep early. Sometimes I take a small jog but that's very rare. Usually I'm going to sleep at 10 p.m. but there's some exceptions. I'm not sure if I should tell this but what the heck. Once me and the boys went for some of drinks in the evening and some of us had couple of too much. Man, that mandatory skate on the next morning was legendary. Coach was so happy that we're not gonna do that ever again for sure. There's little bit of something about my off-day routine/schedule. Hope you guys liked it. Onto the next time. - Joromir Jogr 68
  5. Hi, It's Joromir Jogr here. I was asked to tell a story and what are the odds! I just happened to have one story I wanted to share with you. It's about my old hockey stick. This stick was everything to me when I was a kid. Old wooden hockey stick which was first owned by my great-grandfather. He carved it from scratch after the second world war. Luckily, he was still alive when I was old enough to listen and this was one of the stories he told me. Man, how I miss his stories now. But the stick, yeah THE stick. My Great-grandfather (Jyrymir) first gave the stick to his son, Jurumir. Jurumir used to play in Czechoslovakia's national team with the stick even though national team offered brand new Koho's. Jurumir refused to use those because his father's self-made hockey stick was simply the best. Jurumir won many championships and still to this day, you can smell the champagne from the stick if you sniff it closely. After Jurumir retired, the stick was so battle-scarred that it couldn't be used to play hockey. Jurumir gave it to his son Jirimir who just hang it in his trophy cabinet. Years passed and the stick was dusting in trophy cabinet untouched, until one winter when I was 6 years old Jurumir decided to give the stick a try. Jurumir gave the stick a big fat old school slapshot and not very surprisingly, it broke in half. Jurumir stood silent on the ice and after 5 minutes he picked up the pieces and gave the stick to me and told me to never lose it. Still to this day, the pieces of this legendary hockey stick stand in my trophy cabinet. And forever they will. - Jogr 68
  6. It is a warm day in Ottawa. Zero clouds over the city, sun is shining, birds are chirping...it's a perfect summer day. And as we know, it's a great day for hockey. I am here to interview Mr Joromir Jogr. I was supposed to interview Jogr before the game but my plane arrived couple hours late, but I managed to arrange the interview after the game which was very good indeed. Jogr seems to be a true gentleman. By the time I arrived to the airport, he had called his manager to get me a ticket and a driver to tonight's game. Since it was around 1 hour until game time, the driver drove me directly to the rink. Jogr plays in a VHLM club called Ottawa Lynx. It is Jogr's first season outside Czech Republic but it seems that it hasn't affected him game-wise. Before tonight, he has played 5 games, totaling 3 goals and 5 assists. Good start to his VHLM career, so to say. Okay, the game seems to be starting shortly. What a game it was for Jogr! He scored 1 and assisted 2 goals. I knew this Czech wonderkid was a great player, but wow I certainly wasn't expecting this. He is fast, huge, strong and on top of that, he really knows how to score goals and create dangerous plays. What a player. One for the future for sure. To the locker room we go. This place seems to be stacked of reporters. I am going to have to wait for a while I think. After a little under 50 minutes of waiting, the last reporters are heading out. It's finally time for my interview now. Hi Jogr, you were pretty terrific in the rink tonight. What do you think about tonight's game? - Hey. Yeah, I just had a great feeling tonight before the game. Wyane Gyrzky told me to have a burger before the game, so I had a Big Mac meal from McDonald's before the game. I am pretty sure that boosted my performance tonight. But you know, let's just keep this our secret okay? I don't want the coach to know about me doing this kind of stuff since I'm pretty new guy here. *Laughs* Oh hahah. No I certainly won't tell anyone but you know this interview is going to the VHL page, right? - Oh my... I guess I am screwed then. *Laughs* Hahah we'll see, we'll see. I was pretty amazed by the goal you scored in the second period. You wanna tell me what happened? - Yeah that was a great goal. I really liked it. I have been practicing those moves for a while now and to be honest: I never thought I would use that in game but as you can see, anything can happen. I just had a really good spot to try it. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Your teammate, Ajay Krishna, had a great game aswell, shutout with 20 shots. - Ajay has been performing very well. I've only been in the team for couple of days, but I can already tell that one day Ajay is going to be a top goalie in VHL for sure. Tonight's game would have been easily 4-1 or 4-2 without Ajay performing on top of his game tonight. Ajay the great! Ajay was great indeed. I see you've started to grow a mullet. Are you aiming to get as long as Jaromir Jagr had in the 1990's? - I think this doesn't surprise anyone but since I have a similar name as Jagr and I'm from Czech Republic too I just really want to kind of uhmm... how could i say this...continue his "legacy" you know? Long live the mullet! That sounds like a good plan. There's never enough mullets in the hockey rink. I have no further questions. I just wanted to know I've followed your career since you started in Czech juniors. You're my favourite player. - Thank you very much, I appreciate it. If you ever feel like you want to do another interview or something like that, feel free to call my manager. I make sure to make up some time. Could have a beer or two aswell. Actually, don't put that last thing into the interview please. You know, coach could be reading... I'm afraid it is already there. I am sorry. - Okay. Sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut. First week here, and I've already told you that I had a Big Mac meal before the game + invited you to a beer. *Laughs* Hahah yeah. I have no more questions but do you have anything you want to say or tell us? - Thanks for the interview. Oh man I have so many stories from the Czech Republic but I am not sure if they are appropriate at all. I think I will make my first wise choice in this interview and keep those stories for myself at least for now on. But since you are asking I have one... I wanted to tell you about the name of our junior hockey team. I thought that Prague Plague was a great name until I learnt some English in school...what on earth were they thinking?? *Laughs* All in all, I enjoy playing for Lynx. I have nice teammates and our coaching team is doing great job. I'm excited for the future. See ya around, fellas! Interesting club name. I think I have to contact Prague Plague's staff and ask about the name. Pretty weird indeed. Thanks for the interview Jogr and keep the goals coming! Joromir Jogr is currently playing for VHLM team Ottawa Lynx. So far he has scored 4 goals and 6 assists in 10 games. Stay tuned, I might call Jogr next week and ask some new questions...
  7. Joromir "JoJo"Jogr grew up in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic. Since his birth, his father wanted him to an ice hockey player. Joromir's father was a passionate ice hockey fan and we can partially thank him for pushing Joromir ahead in the beginning. Joromir is really a natural talent, something that has not been seen in Czech Republic since the start of 90's when a similar named rookie entered The Show. "JoJo" recalls, that he did not like ice hockey when he was young because he wasn't anywhere near the top at the start. He struggled in the beginning but learned very quickly, thanks to his hard work and determination. Joromir started skating at the age of four and ice hockey at the age of five. Surprisingly, his natural talent did not appear until he was 10 years old. Even at young age, Joromir made many heads turn with his terrific speed and puck control. Joromir joined a local youth club called Prague Plague. Joromir had an option to pick his own jersey number which was very abnormal back then. Not sure if it was his or his dad's decision but he has been using #68 ever since. At age 14, Joromir soon found himself not giving 110% to the sport. The skill gap between him and other players was too huge and he lost motivation. Joromir even considered retiring and getting a haircut and a real job. A couple of days after that he had a talk with his dad and finally decided to give everything he has to offer to hockey and start training more, harder and faster. Results began to show off how much potential he has. Simply put, he dominated the junior game any way he wanted to. Four years later in June, Joromir, 18, was offered a contract from a US professional hockey team called The Ottawa Lynx. He accepted the offer and is now eager to prove himself on the US soil. Now it is time to score big. Joromir is well-known for his size (6'2, 250lbs). He is very talented right winger with terrific offensive skills. His stickhandling is top-notch. Joromir is very strong and he is unstoppable in terms of puckhandling. He often leads the puck single-handedly. He is very dangerous goal-scorer but he also has graduated as a certified playmaker. At only 18 years old, he is already one of the brightest stars in Czech hockey.
  8. Hello, my name is Joromir Jogr. I come from the land called Czech Republic. I do like ice hockey and as some of you might already guess I aim to win The Cup and be placed into the Hall of Fame. I just started here, so I am still a bit confused about everything but I am learning. Hopefully everything will be much clearer in the coming days / weeks. I think this Victory Hockey League is a great idea and it is kind of a shame I just found this site yesterday. Something about me... I was born and raised in the Czech Republic 18 years ago and I learned to skate when I was 4 years old. I started to play ice hockey when I was 6 years old and I have been on the same road ever since. Some might call it a hobby, some might call it a great way to spend your free time to, but for me, hockey is everything. It is my passion and my whole life right now. I am a skille forward. I used to play left wing when I was younger but soon I switched to right wing since it felt so much better and much more natural. And i was much more deadly on RW. Many general managers showed me some interest last night and I think I am going to get a professional contract soon. I can't be more excited. See you on the ice. ? Best regards,
