Thank god our offence turned up because boy we allowed a lot of goals that sim.

I mean there’s no formal “ballot” for builders, we just pick one each season and have a yes / no vote but he’s someone that has been mentioned a few times as an option so it’s only a matter of time.

We’d still have the normal sim as a control group for comparison so amount of teams doesn’t matter. What matters is if the version is the only thing we changed. If we were messing with other stuff we can’t guarantee what caused changes.

That’s not something we can set up mid-season but we can look at running it again next season. Just need an extra simmer on board to run it. @Josh you ram the ghost last time right? Do we have the results somewhere or were we messing with more than just the version?

Unofficial isn’t a good test, doesn’t change lines, have trades, etc. Only accurate way to test is full ghost seasons IE using the same lines and stuff but on different versions. The stats are the main thing but even Simon’s documentation notes that V2 is less prone to realistic results than V1 is.

Not to give you an excuse but in my experience drafting first is hard. You can get the exact player you want but a lot of top end talent is gone by the time your second pick rolls around.

There is no 3.0; that’s 2.0 and 2.1 that @Will mentioned. 1.5 we did test and it did mess with things but I don’t recall how substantially.

We could give you unlimited cap and people would still sign minimum. Blame the cap all you want but every league has the mi I I’m salary issue because people aren’t actually being paid so there’s very little incentive to take more money vs. Helping your team.

We’ve tried to come up with those as well but even very significant changes still lead to it being broken. We’re talking 450+ point seasons level broken. It’s not designed to work with 99 attributes. It’s also known for less realistic results, even people who run it in GM leagues with attributes it’s designed for admit this. Giveaways and Takeaways aren’t worth completely overhauling the league and having less realistic results.

Easy until GM changes happen and then it gets super messy. Plus GM’s don’t always want to be permanently locked to their team. Having GM just be a job like any other, unrelated to player, is far cleaner and easier.

I played briefly a few years ago but it started to feel far too grindy without paying for my liking.

I was really expecting the ending of this to be “how dare the league change the rule in this way, it’s so unreasonable” and I’m glad that I was completely wrong. To me it’s simple, a GM player is likely to be a very good player. Why should you get that player, that clearly as a GM you are depending on, for free or for VASTLY lower than they are worth? Any other player in the draft you can’t do that with so why should it be possible with your own? If you want them so bad then trade up and get them, or trade for them after the draft, nothing stopping you. I didn’t mind adding the first round pick rule (though I didn’t want it) when the league had 8 teams but at double that it’s ridiculous. Just to add the perspective, when the rule was introduced pick 16 would have been the very end of the second round, is that remotely a reasonable spot to get a super active 300+ TPE player that’s guaranteed to stick around as long as you need them and do whatever is best for the team instead of themselves? Obviously not so the fact that’s in the first round now doesn’t change anything. /rant I’m not going to give an opinion on whether GM’s MUST have a player but I will say that holding out on recreating isn’t going to sway the league’s hand any.
