Honestly a cup drought doesn’t even automatically make for a stigma. I’m not sure what exactly it was with Vasteras that did it, maybe we were all just bigger assholes back then.

They won the cup in S1 (potentially via shady means but nothing was ever proven) and then proceeded to have a 25 season cup drought and I think only win like 1 other after that. In a lot of ways they were the laughing stock of the league which gave them a poor reputation and made people resistant to playing for them. They were thus relocated but to a very dumb place (Madrid) and were subsequently moved back a few seasons later which kinda just made it worse because it made them even more of a joke that even moving couldn’t fix them. Eventually they were moved again and became the Stockholm Vikings who did a bit better at getting people on boats but no better sim wise and the team remained more or less cursed before eventually being, effectively, contracted when we went back down to 8 teams. Basically people just liked to laugh at them and they’ve had 2 chances in the VHL to prove that stigma wrong and a VHLM stint as well. At this point bringing them back is just a bad look because it’s been a failed experiment so many times already.

We had plenty more over the years but more and more started being moved to or expanding to NA. Oslo was just the last to move. Point is it wasn’t “traditionally North American” at all. It’s only been North American only for a few seasons.

I’m not interested in bringing any team back but for the logo alone I’d bring the Vikings back long before Vasteras.

The VHLM has only been a North American League for a few seasons. Up until we moved Oslo to Minnesota it was global. Also Vasteras, as @Victor mentions, has literally failed in both leagues already and can go rot. There’s no reason to every bring back that train wreck.

Our system did used to be similar to that but it started becoming an issue where players that wanted to stay down would get called up or M teams would get screwed because their top player would get called up to be depth for a playoff run, etc. It all just became very messy to both keep track of an enjoy so we separated the experiences more or less. To each their own though.

Updates? Also I imagine sims take awhile. I meant specifically. Talk to me like I’m a child in this case because I’m not in the league so I have no clue what their “junior system” is.

I’m curious about what these may be in your opinion.

I give it a month. Not to sound harsh but simming on games like that makes for things being massively manual and a huge pain in the ass. It’s the main reason so many old leagues died. @JeffD certainly remembers the old ESHL days of trying to deal with EA sims.

I don’t know if I’d say they are a big success because of that. A few people may prefer it but there’s no way the people that do are a majority or avoiding other leagues because of it. Honestly the SHL has had some lucrative recruiting deals and cater to a younger audience, it has worked well for them. Combine that with the fact that the original SHL was the OG Sim Hockey League and thus they locked down a name that implies they are the only option and you have what you see. From personal experience I’ll take our quality of members over their quantity but that’s subjective and as @TheFlash said it’s not EVERYONE that’s toxic as hell; that’s just been my limited experience with them.

FWIW I don’t like the SHL but I don’t much care for the fact that 75% of our activity has shifted to discord either.

I spent ages cleaning the SHL forum up when i helped them move from IF to Jcink, probably a solid week of making sure everything was set up perfectly. Within a week they had completely destroyed it and turned the forums and sub forums into an impossible to navigate clusterfuck. That’s why I dislike them haha

1. That sounds exactly like the SHL, I guess they’ve still never grown up over there. 2. Is there a lot of CHL crossover? I don’t even recognize the name?

Again though, it’s just confusing. Makes it seem like they are playing again? Idk, to each their own. I’d just rather see new names for this than past HoFers.

Personally I think having their names on such trash players kinda tarnishes it a bit but I also made mine as HoFers who sold out their last names to corporations so what do a I know haha

I mean you do but the birthday has always been a big giveaway, we aren’t planning on changing that.

A season takes roughly 2 months which makes a career a year and a half on average. A big celebration like this 1-2 times per career is acceptable.
