Unless the code has been somehow removed the portal is actually built to allow multiple players. GM’s were a holdout of the 2 player era for awhile and still had 2 when the portal started so the system does exist. Not saying I necessarily agree with going back to 2 players (it had various issues) but the portal would likely be fine.

You’ve clearly never seen the energy levels and bossiness of the toddler in question. I was most certainly not the one in control, purely survival mode.
-
Could you elaborate on what they aren’t doing exactly?
-
Ah, gotcha, I read it wrong. I plead that I was being dragged around a toy store by a toddler at the time..,
-
That part’s easy, I already added them all.

Scotty on MSN kept me in the league so you all have him and MSN to thank (or maybe blame) for that…

FWIW the VHLE was always built with a “self destruct button” so to speak. From the get go it was designed to be easier to remove than something like contracting teams is. I’ve done the latter and it’s messy and unpleasant which is part of why the VHLE was a better option than continuing to expand the VHL and VHLM. On the surface removing a league seems complicated but because every player in it has a VHLM and VHL team already they just need to be pushed to whichever side of the cap they belong on.

Surprised the resolution of “kill the VHLE” took this long but glad you have some actual reasons haha

Will was self taught and built the portal I mean sure it was janky as hell but it worked. I think you might be surprised who you could find.

You’ve got no idea the activity levels daily that used to happen and it shows. Discord has its uses don’t get me wrong but what it did to forum activity on the whole, not just in the VHL, is mind blowing when it really doesn’t fit a lot of specific use cases like ours. I’d also say there’s been a pretty solid amount of discussion happening in here and I haven’t offered to reward anyone with anything. Almost as if interesting topics for discussion generate forum content.

People should 100% be more willing to try graphics or podcasts even without experience as well. I never cared for writing large pieces so I just learned how to do GFX instead (and this was back when they were graded and it wasn’t auto-6 haha) and then transitioned later to doing the CoDCast because I found it entertaining. MS’ are great for some but they aren’t for everyone and that’s okay.

Alternatively forum content is down because people don’t post unless they’ll get something out of it. Whether you need to do a PT or not shouldn’t impact whether you post or not.

I mean it’s a random other post, no harm in having not seen it. Just easier for me to point you that way than reply again haha. I do think the checklist would be quite useful, just not sure how I feel about a pile of extra earning options when people already don’t do several of the ones we have.

S91 - VHL Playoff Bracket Challenge - Payouts
Beketov replied to Mysterious_Fish's topic in VHL Fantasy Zone
It looks like you didn’t do round 1 which is where you pick the cup winner -
Just pointing you to the end of my response Here rather than posting it again. Just my experience with the matter mind you.

To people need that level of prodding though? Like you’re basically allowed to talk about whatever you want so long as it’s league related so do we need someone to post every week “hey if you need an idea talk about this”?

Welfare is capped, PF is uncapped. Also I should read the whole thing before I start quoting stuff so I will do that now instead of making a bunch of posts in a row. We do in a sense. Not two articles but if you wanna do a .com article and a .com practice you can. Is there any specific things that are preventing you from doing these already? We’re pretty relaxed about what we accept so just because it doesn’t have a rubric doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Or I guess it all comes back to: Right? As Spartan said it kinda goes against how the structure of the league exists but I shall keep reading. That is interesting… performance reviews of sort so that staff can actually see how GM’s are handling things (or not) behind closed doors. I’m not sure whether I’d call it a “task” per say but the idea is interesting. Ultimately the concern that always comes up when discussing “gives us more ways to earn” is whether or not the effort required to get it set up will actually lead to anything. We’ve actually added a lot of different earning options over the years but generally everyone does the same ones week after week purely because they are the best “bang for the buck” options. IE they are the ones that can be done the quickest or with the least amount of effort. We could add 50 task options but people are still going to just do the 4 that get them to 12 the fastest. Basically what I mean is that options are good but too many just become wasted effort for little gain.

Job pay is just capped pay. There are some caveats for what jobs can “replace a PT” and what ones can’t but on the whole it’s nothing special, it’s just a different way of earning. Coming up with theme weeks once a season gets us enough flack, you want that weekly?
-
I mean you’re more than capable of putting a hiring thread up. I wouldn’t even know what would be required to You are holding yourself to this weird metric that I have to leave before you do, I’m not holding you any which way.
-
I’m too stubborn for that and we both know it.

I believe our plan of attack for that, though it hasn’t happened, was to get it onto the player updating page somewhere so that it would automatically check off the stuff you’ve already claimed for the week and grey out the stuff that’s unavailable. For example if you claim welfare it would grey out the PT and vice versa. We do need more portal devs though so there’s another one from me: a larger portal dev team.

@Quik was long a proponent of purchasing additional seasons with no set limit. The issue with having it be possible to endlessly go is mostly trying to balance how depreciation would work for them but it also removes a lot of the cyclical nature of the draft classes so you could get seasons with basically no marquee recreates because they are still just running past careers. Its an idea that has been brought up before though, could certainly be revived.

The intention was to make it difficult but maybe it’s too hard. What kind of fighter would you have in mind?

I’ll even start. I would like to see our YouTube ads branch out. I’ve long wondered if we haven’t over-saturated a small market of NHL YouTubers and basically, despite using multiple different ones, reached the same target audience each time. What I mean is that every ad we’ve run basically, regardless of who it’s been with, has provided diminishing returns. I would wager that the people who see one of the YouTubers in that category probably see’s many of them so having the ad on 4 different channels but reaching the same audience is no different than having it on 1 channel, does that make sense? What I have in mind is, oddly, ignoring the hockey aspect. Yes the VHL is a hockey sim league but it’s also a game in a sense and gamers come in all varieties. I didn’t join sim leagues because of a specific sport I joined them for the game aspect and found different sports within the “game” that was sim leagues. So why don’t we try some non-hockey related channels? Try breaking into a different market audience than what has already seen our ads. There are tons of different gaming channels of varying sizes on YouTube that we could approach. Would it work? Not sure. But I would definitely like to give it a try.
