@Members It's that time of year again! The beginning of the VHL Holiday season and therefore the Charity Auction! So this post is our call for items, you can see what has been done in the past here. This gives you an idea of what other's have done if you want to replicate it but feel free to come up with something new. The way the auctions function is simple, we put up the "items" you offer and as members you put your money bids down and fight over who gets it. Once the time runs out the highest bidder takes the prize. So what's this thread for? Well we need to know what to put up for auction of course! So, reply below if you're willing to auction anything, digital, real, or otherwise. You can also offer up incentives for group milestones or cumulative goals. These would be stuff like the Zoo Tycoon 2 stream I've done the last couple of years. Essentially if, as a whole, we meet a certain amount of money raised then the milestone is met and the reward is "paid out" to everyone. Alternatively a cumulative goal would be if that specific auction item reaches a certain amount raised so like "$100 = a stream" or something and everyone puts forth money toward the same goal instead of budding against each other. Notes: - We've had amazingly creative auctions the last two years, check out the subforum for ideas for this year. It's okay to repeat things. - Staff will have the final say on which volunteered items make it to the auction. Ultimately some things like permanent discord mutes or something might be funny but we aren't going to intentionally harm the league or do anything illegal for this. - As always, everything must be SFW. - When you bid on an auction item, you are agreeing to pay that amount in full if you win. Do not bid if you aren't willing to pay. - If you sign up to auction off an item or your time please consider it a commitment. If you offer to do something please follow through with it. People are paying for these things so don't ignore them. Once we get the items for the charity auction sorted, we'll set fundraising goals and share the corresponding rewards for hitting each goal. As always @Commissioners have final say if an item is appropriate and what items will be chosen. Volunteering an item in here doesn't mean it will automatically get chosen but putting something in means it can so make sure you're willing to do whatever you say in here. Happy holidays! Well we ran real for months and I’ve been running purple for a few weeks now so I’m a way most of the top votes have gotten used. For now though she’s orange The photo looks kinda red but it’s far more orange in person. I imagine now that I don’t need to rip the back panel off that I’ll be changing it a bit more frequently.

To be fair while it is winter now basically the entire country of Canada was on fire last summer… Mind you we would have to see if there’s any kind of way to donate on a national scale for firefighters. I think it’s usually a very local thing.

Hello @Members! Last week was Halloween and you can't tell me otherwise! I feel like I blinked and we're basically into December, wild! That does mean that the holiday season is nearly upon us which for the VHL means our annual charity drive! For those who haven’t been around, a quick recap: Every December in addition to Christmas festivities we hold a charity donation drive to help out communities beyond our own. This will be our fifth year doing the charity drive with previous drives donating thousands to the Make a Wish Foundation, Food Banks of Canada / Feed America, the Red Cross, and the SickKids Foundation / St. Jude's. But it's not even December yet, why do I bring this up? Because we need your help deciding a charity of course. As always you’ll be able to donate to any charity you wish and have it count but the league matching donation and any donated through us will go to the charity that’s chosen. In an ideal world that charity fits a couple of criteria so if you can try to keep them in mind for your suggestions that would be great: 1. Should be something that accepts PayPal donations since all league funds run through that. 2. Should be something with a wide reach and ideally international or at least having Canadian / American equivalents we can split donations between. 3. Nothing political or divisive. So let’s see what you can come up with! Feel free to also discuss your favourites in here if someone suggests something you feel strong about but try to keep it as on topic as possible. Here’s to the start of another VHL holiday season!

Alright I’m out then. I have never and never intend to GM. GMing is not the be all end all of the league. At the core this remains a player sim, not a GM sim, so I 100% disagree with the idea that only people with GM experience have anything to offer to the BOG role.

There might be a few of you who remember This poll from awhile ago. Well I have finally done more upgrades on SimBox and have a motherboard from this decade which means I also have an RGB header. That means we aren’t limited to the mediocre built in colours of these fans, oh no, I can do any colour I want! Now they aren’t aRGB fans so the entire ring has to be the same colour (so no rainbow option) but I do have a lot more fine control than I had before. So therefore I leave it to you, VHL community, to choose my fan colour! I’ve added the same colour options to the poll as last time but also included an “other” option if you want to go for something else, just specify it and if you want to vote for that same colour just like the specified post. Make sense? I will leave this for around a week and then go with whatever is chosen.

They are just doing things that don’t require updater approval so it’s quicker. 1 to 6 is only a 5 TPE increase so welfare and then trivia would give 5 instantly. That welfare would also limit the amount you can earn in a week though so someone doing a PT and having to wait for it to be approved would still wind up with more in the end, it would just take a bit longer.

Everyone’s favourite week to complain about the theme while making sure they get that sweet extra TPE because it’s all that matters Of course, that also means that the Trade Deadline is Monday, November 27th at 3pm EST. This also means that anyone wishing to re-create for the S93 draft can do so starting at midnight that same day. --- Trade deadlines are boring though, you wanna know about theme week don’t you? The theme for S91 is: Sometimes you just gotta lean into the fire right? @Zetterberg made this a hit button topic in recent weeks so why not make it the whole theme? Make them some recruitment graphics or videos; give them suggestions in a media spot or podcast; he’ll praise the work that they already do. As long as it relates to recruitment you’re good to go To earn your Theme Week TPE, write an article, create a graphic, or record a podcast with some connection to “recruitmentp”. --- In order to claim the theme week bonus of 6 Uncapped TPE, simply submit your Themed PT (Graphic, Media Spot, or 6-TPE Podcast), and claim it as normal. After claiming the PT portion, you can use the same link, and claim the uncapped portion as follows: Claim Uncapped > Other > Doubles Week. (Note: you do not need to post your link in this thread to claim either portion of TPE). If you have already submitted a Point Task for this week, or are in the midst of claiming a multi-week Media Spot/Podcast, you may still submit a Theme Week PT this week, and claim the capped portion on the next available week, following your multi-week claim. And no, posting something last week that happens to reward to the theme this week doesn’t grant you the theme week bonus. Also, if you have a single job that pays 6+, you may claim the theme week bonus as long as you complete your duties for the week. If you are in the EFL or SBA and have completed their most recent Media Week, you may use that to claim the Uncapped theme week bonus, but a PT must be completed this week in order to claim the Capped portion, whether that is completed here or through Affiliate Welfare. I was editing a comedy sketch this week that was meant to kinda emulate a cheesy government PSA with just slow zooms on photos right. To really emphasize the ridiculousness we decided to just AI generate the photos so I did that, got the 1024x1024 ones, and then ran them through photoshop to AI enlarge them. It worked surprisingly, and kinda terrifyingly, well. So this was for "smoking kills" and this was for "don't eat ketchup chips on a white couch" Like it's obvious they are AI and there's definitely some weirdness to clean up (his hand and the clock especially) but they didn't take long to make at all and it was a cool proof of concept for the kind of stuff you can make if a bit of uncanny valley is fine.
